## What is BoltDuel?

No turns. No waiting. Just be faster.

BoltDuel is a real-time 1v1 Speed card duel. Both players slam cards onto the center piles at the same time, and the first to empty their hand and stock wins.

ALSO KNOWN AS
Speed goes by a lot of names. Spit, Slam, Nertz, Pounce. If you grew up playing any of them at a kitchen table, you already know this game.

HOW TO PLAY
A 52-card deck is split evenly between the two of you. Play any card one rank above or below the top of either centre pile. Aces wrap between King and 2. When neither of you can move, hit SPEED to flip a fresh card onto each pile. Empty your hand and your stock first and you win.

A BOT THAT DOES NOT ROLL OVER
Most Speed bots are either unbeatable or trivial once you spot the pattern. This one waits a different fraction of a second every time, the way a person does, across Easy, Normal and Hard. Beating Hard means you actually got faster.

WHAT ELSE IS IN THERE
• Challenge a friend by name and duel them as soon as they accept
• Ranked online duels, with an ELO rating that moves against your real opponent
• Global leaderboard, plus a profile keeping wins, losses, draws and win rate
• A lightning strike on every SPEED, over original synthesized music and effects
• Hint mode that highlights what you can legally play while you are learning
• Free to play, and the bot is one tap away when nobody is around

Matches take under three minutes. Play on the bus, or against the person sitting next to you.

### 1.0.13 — 2026-09-02

Button labels on the home screen no longer break in the middle of a word. On narrower phones TUTORIAL was showing up split across two lines.

### 1.0.12 — 2026-08-27

Fixed a bug that left the home screen blank on larger tablets. If you play on one, this is the update you want.

Notifications no longer create an empty profile for players who chose to stay guests.

Fewer harmless network hiccups get reported as errors, so real problems are easier for us to spot and fix.

### 1.0.10 — 2026-08-25

Fixed a crash that could close the game the moment it opened on some phones.

The leaderboard and your profile now offer a Try Again button when the connection drops, instead of leaving you stuck on an error you cannot get past.

### 1.0.9 — 2026-08-21

Challenge a friend by name. The invite reaches them right away, and accepting drops you both straight into the duel.

Notifications now work for guest players too, so an invite finds you even when the app is closed.

Fixed a win screen that said you emptied your stock first when the duel was actually decided on the tiebreak.

### 1.0.8 — 2026-08-19

Ranked duels now score against your real opponent rating, so beating a stronger player is worth more than beating a weaker one. Lightning fires on every SPEED, not only the ones you tap. Sound effects have their own switch inside a duel, and you can rate the game from Settings. Fixed a crash some players hit on launch, fixed a case where leaving a duel could record both a win and a loss, and the match screen is now fully translated. Smaller download too.
