I know that this app 100% could be better and I don’t think that the people who made this app tried very hard. Could be better. I do recommend for anyone who has a boogie board But it is not completely necessary. You can still use the board without the app. ### 2/5 — Needs fixing *2025-06-26, version 1.1.7* Incredibly annoying and frustrating that the scan won’t pick up the bottom inch or so of the screen. Also cuts off corners. What’s the point of making this size of boogie board if your app won’t even scan the whole thing. It could be an ideal companion to my Mi writing tablet. It simply detects the screen, takes a shot of it automatically and converts it to white and black. Everything super simple, fast and seamless up to here. BUT, it crops out a large part of the screen, approximately 2 cm on each side. Something so simple and great is almost useless due to this detail. I hope they fix it in the next update. ### 2/5 — Nice design but bad reading *2022-10-07, version 1.1.6* The design of the app is nice but when i go to read the drawing off my jot it cuts off some of the drawing and almost all of it is erased, it does not read the entire thing. ### 2/5 — Good scanning BUT *2022-10-04, version 1.1.6* It doesn’t capture the whole screen! So if you write something near the edges it won’t show. It seems to only capture everything written in the middle of the screen. This happens in both automatic scanning and manual If they somehow fix this it would be the perfect app ### 3/5 — Boogie Board Note E-Writer *2022-02-26, version 1.1.6* I live this thing! BUT, when I open the camera to scan my notes about 1/2 an inch is cut off from the top and the bottom of the board. Consequently, my notes are “butchered” in a sense. I have to try to keep taking pictures to and try to find the right lighting for it to take the whole page of notes! I’m utterly upset about spending $19.99 (PLUS TAX) for this item at Target. In addition, there is only one color highlighter option in the boogie board app for this item. I’d like to request my money back for this item until improvements are updated. Thanks! The board is great, the app is garbage. I could never get it to scan the whole thing. With would always cut off half my picture. I didn’t like how it saves to my photos on my phone. The point of me getting it was I didn’t want to add more data to my photos but wanted to save my notes but then this just saved a copy to my photos. Why. Lastly the pictures didn’t always come out very well at all. And when they were good they definitely didn’t look like the examples shown here. Easy to use. 👍 Please improve quality of scanning system. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Developer removes top twice *2026-05-06, version 2.0.3* The scanning works well except for it seems the developers accounted for the top and strip twice when scanning, resulting in a chunk of the top of the content you’re trying to capture missing. The top strip is removed from the correctly recognized outline of the actual board! So close to actually working right! The bottom of the capture also has the same thing going on. ### 1/5 — Great idea bad implementation *2025-07-05, version 1.1.7* For a brand new boogie board had the app qr on the box. The app is simple yet there is a major problem. The scan area cuts off all the size. I even manually select the entire area and it still cuts off the size. That’s just bad implementation. I have to extend the size by almost an inch and a half outside the board writing area just to get it to work properly. Since there is no calibration and I don’t feel like doing this every time I’m not going to continue to use this app if they are not willing to fix a minor issue like this. ### 1/5 — Never works on iPad mini *2025-04-12, version 1.1.7* Scan seems broken.
