### 5/5 — Excellent idea and app

*2024-11-20, version 1.9.4*

I tend to start many books in parallel and lose track of what I’m reading and where I am.

With this elegant and easy to use app, I can keep track of all the books I want, which page etc..
Plus it helps me to maintain a good habit of reading every day.

Thanks so much for making this!

### 5/5 — import

*2024-08-31*

This app cannot import books from other software, such as Calibre, nor can it add books through online search. Moreover, there are no statistics on reading. A five-star rating is an encouragement.

**Developer response:** Hi there! Thanks so much for your review,

One thing to keep in mind is while the app doesn’t work with any external software, when you add a new book, there should be an option to search the database online using Google Books. This allows you to easily import titles and start reading right away. Once you’ve started reading with a few sessions in the app, it then starts generating statistics for you, displayed on the Home tab.

If you have any other feedback, I’d love to hear from you at help.bookend@gmail.com.

Best regards,
Ben

### 5/5 — In awe

Such a good system and makes logging the books I am reading so much easier!! So fun to see my reading stats!

### 5/5 — Great app. I highly recommend!

*2023-04-06, version 1.0*

This app is very useful when I have to read my books for university, as it helps me keep track of how much reading I have left before my deadline. It also tell me how fast I’ve read the book. Very easy to use and good concept.

### 1/5 — Not that good

*2026-02-12*

Weird app, doesn’t let me type in the number of pages completed.

**Developer response:** Hey! Thanks for the review.

Book End is intended to be used as a reading timer. Sessions are run inside the app and when you’re done reading you log your progress / current page. The reading duration is used to calculate the statistics, speed and time remaining for each book.

That being said, it you don’t wish to use the timer, you can manually log sessions within Book > Reading Sessions > +.
I’m seeking to make this easier in future releases.

### 3/5 — Interesting

*2026-02-07*

I’d like to get more into this, but most of my matter now are AudioBooks. Any chance the app can support them as a book type, etc?

Also, I’ve a large number of books in a spreadsheet - any chance we can have some sort of bulk import?

**Developer response:** Hey, firstly thanks for taking the time to leave a review!
Regarding audiobooks, unfortunately none of the free book databases that I can access, really has support for reliable audiobooks, eg, durations ect. My recommendation for now, should you want to keep using Book End, is to import them as normal books, and then “update” the progress using the % option.
Additionally, regarding bulk import. The same free book databases that I have access too, have limits on the number of searches per day. Bulk import, would mean that very quickly Book End will run out of access to the database, if a number of people are importing larger libraries. It’s something that I want to explore in the future, but isn’t quote feasible for right now. I do have the ability to export however, should you want to change platforms for your reading tracking.
If you want to reach out and discuss anymore, I’ve got a “Send Feedback” email, in the Book End in app settings.

### 5/5 — Excellent!

*2026-07-13*

Just downloaded and I'm already enamored. No ads, no pushes for in-app purchases, just an excellent reading habit tracker with detailed statistics and information! And so well designed. This is exactly what I was looking for!

### 5/5 — LOVE THIS APP

*2026-05-21*

I LOVE this app!! They give so many different statistics and I love to see how many hours, pages, and books I read every week/month/year. They have no ads and charges which is so rare these days.

### 5/5 — Best reading tracker app

*2026-05-02*

I can’t emphasize how great this app has been. It has all the essentials I could need and want. If there was only one thing I would want as a feature, it would have to be iCloud sync. I don’t know how hard it would be to implement, but it would make a 5/5 app 10/5 app. Hope the developer keeps this app running for the long haul

### 5/5 — Best off-line reading tracker

*2026-04-12*

I was looking for a simple, off-line reading tracker, and this is absolutely the best on the market. Everything is stored locally, including your personal reviews. However, you can look up books and it gives you ratings from larger online websites which is extremely helpful. I love that it fills in a little picture of the book that I read on each calendar day!

I have only two “complaints”, though they are not terribly frustrating. The first is that the calendar has every day start on the first day (visually Sunday), instead of following a normal Sunday through Saturday approach. The second is that there doesn’t seem to be a way to back up or import your data from the app. I would love to back this up in like a physical file in my files on my phone. But overall, very minor gripes for what is possibly my favorite app on my phone.

### 5/5 — Really good and well designed app

*2026-03-18*

Has every thing I was expecting from a book tracking app. No login or purchases needed, just a simple book tracker with live activities. Thanks for making this

**Developer response:** Hey, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review!

I’m really glad to hear that you’re loving Book End, and its simplicity. As an indie developer, feedback and reviews mean a lot to me. Kind regards, Ben

### 5/5 — Best tracking app

*2026-02-25*

This app is so perfect! It has everything I use to track my reading all in one place, including time spent reading, pages read, even an option to add quotes or vocab from the book! I love the feature that calculates reading speed and how much of the book is left, that has been helpful for me to reach my reading goals. Overall, an amazing free app with no adds :)

**Developer response:** Hey!

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review for Book End, I’m really glad you’re liking my app, and everything it has to offer. Kind regards, Ben

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2026-02-25*

This app is exactly what I was looking for. Easy to add books, see your collection, and track progress on multiple books you’re reading at the same time. I love the no-frills approach, and it’s obvious the developer cares about the utility and functionality of it. The ability to quickly add books using the ISBN is perfect, and it’s a really nice and flexible feature that you can also put a custom book cover as the thumbnail for each book. I also really like that you can see your reading session history and your reading speed. It just seems like everything you’d want is in one place and it’s done in a really user-friendly way. Keep up the great work! I’ve been recommending this app to lots of people!

**Developer response:** Hey!

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review for Book End, I’m really glad to hear you’re liking my app, and it fits all your needs perfectly. As an independent, hobby app developer, this means the world. Kind regards, Ben

### 5/5 — Indespensable

*2025-08-30, version 1.12.0*

Brilliant app. I wrote an earlier review that was rather negative as the app had failed to keep time a couple of times and I lost my progress. The developer contacted me immediately and added edit features and more. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Features

*2025-07-31*

Liking the app, so far. It’s full of great features.

Suggestion: if there is a way to separate the library by books I’m currently reading versus books “to be read” or a wishlist for future book reads, that would be great.

**Developer response:** Hey thanks for the review!

In regards to your suggestion, in the library tab there should be a filter in the top right corner. It lets you filter via Currently reading, not started, in progress and a few other options!
I’ll look at trying to revisit this experience when I get the chance to make it a bit more obvious

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2025-01-07, version 1.9.7*

This app is perfect for tracking both your reading progress and speed. Its simple interface makes logging sessions easy, while the speed tracker provides helpful insights.
