It’s affordable and a great way to help you build your book collection. I highly, HIGHLY, recommend you join if you are an avid reader/bookworm like myself. It’s never going to disappoint ❤️📚 ### 3/5 — Loses Place *2026-08-04, version 8.72.0* I’ve been using for over a year now, and have been thinking about unsubscribing due to the app constantly losing my place in a audio book. Every time I reopen the app it starts me from the beginning of the book I am reading with every book I read. I have emailed about it and they just told me to update my app, which solved nothing. ### 3/5 — Love this app but.. *2026-07-30, version 8.72.0* This app is great and I love being a member! But I wish it wasn’t so glitchy. Since I started using this app 5 years ago, it’s always been like this. ### 2/5 — No Bug Fixes *2026-07-26, version 8.70.0* Been 4 months and still am unable to use the app. Keyboard freezes at password login portion of the screen and I’m on an iPhone. And unable to use the app. Reading reviews this is clearly a known and reported issue that continues to go unfixed. I go to the website to choose my books now - but sadly it doesn’t let me rate the books there. Making it so that I cannot earn badges. The app was great, but when you cannot access something and they are not interested in fixing it- the motivation to stay connected and choose monthly books/browse for additional books dwindles. I can only imagine that it is the same for other readers. What used to be a quick easy process through the app now has me going to website every month and extra steps = extra work = less interest in buying. Time is valuable, for everyone. ### 3/5 — Love BOM but app needs work *2026-07-26, version 8.70.0* My husband signed us up for BOM a while back. It’s been wonderful to get shiny new books every month. BUT, the app really sucks and needs work. Here are the problems: 1. It’s very slow and unresponsive. 2. If you are anywhere in the navigation (like All Months) and click on any book, the back button hardly ever works. So you have to basically close/reopen the app and navigate back to what you were looking at. 3. If you are looking at the book details, it doesn’t tell you if you’ve already purchased that book. 4. There is no intuitive way to see all the books you’ve purchased in the past. You have to click on “Challenge” and then “Rate books” to see them. 5. It would be really simple to add a link to the Goodreads profile for each book, so why isn’t it there? I always look up the GR reviews anyway, and it would save time. GR isn’t selling books, so it isn’t a competitor to BOM. 6. Why can’t you filter by the different search criteria across all books? E.g. Mystery + Fast Read 7. Why can’t you sort your TBR list by the different categories and filters? Some of these are nice-to-haves obviously. But BOM really needs to fix the basic performance of the app and get the navigation working. ### 1/5 — Can’t even unsubscribe in advance *2026-07-26, version 8.70.0* Terrible selection, just got it for the unreliable narrator hat. I tried unsubscribing but it wouldn’t let me, I have to wait 3 months to do so. Great service you have… ### 2/5 — Audiobooks are not a priority *2026-07-22, version 8.70.0* I like BOTM, but as someone who primarily listens to audiobooks, their audiobook UI is god awful. It’s glitchy, in a forgotten corner of the app underneath podcasts (which I don’t even listen to), and it order the books top-down based on when you bought them, not which one you listened to most recently. Meaning if you’re finally listening to a book you bought a year ago, you’re having to scroll through 12+ titles (you can buy more than one a month if you go through their catalog) to get to the book you’re listening to. That’s already clunky, but the audiobooks page is for some reason extremely laggy. Also, more of a nitpick, but the app only shows you how many hours you have left, not how many hours you’ve listened or percentage, which makes translating that to a reading tracker like Storygraph a little clunky. ### 4/5 — Diversity *2026-07-02, version 8.60.0* I am enjoying this he book club so far. I would really like to see more authors of color offered in the selection. ### 1/5 — The worst selections in books *2026-06-30, version 8.60.0* Every month the books we can choose from are the absolute worst. I signed up with Blood Born and We Who Will Die thinking that at least every other month a good book would be selected. 4 months and they are not good at all. I cannot wait to cancel my subscription and stop paying for these 3 star reads. ### 1/5 — Fraudulent at best *2026-06-29, version 8.60.0* Book of the month charged me for credits I didn’t receive. My account has been inactive for sometime so I thought it was a mistake. However upon reinstalling the app and trying to figure out how to cancel my account for good, I realize they make it nearly impossible for this to happen. They hide the cancelation links. The help center is a joke, I emailed and never heard back. I would be very cautious about creating an account with them.
