It’s really hard to understand what’s going on and how to access and organize content. Anyways you know when there’s a book on a device and when your writing the lines go down well that’s not how this works- the lines don’t move and it marks when you write as it’s a diary. You have to scroll on one line to see what you wrote. Just not what I wanted. ### 3/5 — It’s okay! *2024-02-28* This is an honestly okay app, but I don’t believe the one star OR five star reviews are really covering the contents of Book Writer. It is a writing app that has an odd format, doesn’t really need to be paid for(from what I see), and doesn’t offer a lot besides the basics. It, however, does have some neat features. The character section where you can log your characters is a good touch, and it’s pretty straightforward on how you write with it. The only reason why I think it’s so mediocre is because you don’t get the best format. When you open the app you are given three sections: Draft, Story, and Characters. When you click on the story tab you are take to a screen that says “title” and “outline”. It is sort of similar to a review panel like this, but I’m personally not accustomed to it. I believe this app could improve if you had a more dedicated space for writing instead of a simple pop up tab. It just feels like it’s not taking the writing seriously. Though, I think YOU, the person reading this review, should download it to see if you would like it yourself. It could be very useful if you would want to utilize more. It is very financially handy since paying for anything isn’t exactly required. ### 3/5 — I'm Crying *2024-02-12* So at first I loved this app. It was a really good tool to write a book. But today I checked and all of my chapters were gone. I was really dedicated to my book on mental health and I even saved it. Very disappointed. ### 1/5 — Meh...😒 *2023-12-29* This is an okay app, but it has zero fonts, features and anything else that makes a writing app interesting. I recommend other apps like Pages that are free, easy to use, and yet have many good features and fonts for story writing. No offence to the creators, but this app could absolutely use some sparking up. ### 2/5 — Nope *2023-10-07, version 2.3.4* Very difficult to navigate through the app. Tried to start a draft and really couldn’t figure out what tools to use. Not accessible and constant pop up to pay for premium come on your screen. Not worth downloading ### 2/5 — Disappointing *2023-09-02, version 2.3.2* The idea for this app is a good one that I’m sure would be very useful to many writers out there but certain parts of the app simply don’t work. The most significant glitch I discovered was that the app will not save details about your characters, rendering the entire character function obsolete for anything other than remembering the names of your characters. This app shows potential but it currently fails to sufficiently perform its fundamental functions. ### 1/5 — I don’t think I like this app *2023-03-21, version 2.1.1* I like how you can see the books and drafts on it, but, I don’t understand how people create pages on it. Why is the keyboard make me feel like I’m typing on a Nokia flip phone what is this app Im just disappointed make this better or you guys will go nowhere is life ### 1/5 — I can NOT believe this *2025-05-12* So first I was so positive about this app and really comfortable so far so good, little did I know that a random small mistake would turn into a big disappointment. First I made a chapter in a book and wrote beneath it a note. Simple task. Then today I go back to the chapter to review the note and guess what it doesn’t exist apparently XD. I was shocked then I tried looking everywhere in this app and my traditional notes app for my Cinderella note, The note was gone and I am sure I wrote it beneath the chapter. So I made another chapter and wrote a new note beneath it ,just like I did with my lost note. Turns out it’s a malfunction where you can not access notes of chapters! My note is gone for good and now I have only the title of it and my fish memory to recall what I wrote. Guess what I don’t have an idea what I wrote that’s why I have a writing app to help me REMEMBER it lol. Book Writer has a feature called Bucket, where you can find everything you have written so far. Bucket can be reached through the writing page. ### 1/5 — Not what I was looking for at all *2025-03-22* So I downloaded this app to help me brainstorm ideas for my new book and when I write things down in places like “chapters” or “characters” and then save and click out, I click back on it and there’s nothing there, none of it saved. There isn’t even a save button so you just have to pray it’ll save. Also there is no guide or organization if you want to write a second book. I recommend apps like “Fortelling” or “Squibler” for ideas ### 1/5 — Mad *2025-02-11* This is a terrible app, I was looking for a free novel app to write in but its just so confusing. It claims to provide AI assistance for tasks like correcting grammar, but that’s misleading. The AI generation features are also nonexistent. While it’s not a terrible app, it feels more like false advertising and a cash grab. I wouldn’t recommend paying for a subscription. ### 1/5 — It doesn’t save.. *2024-11-30* So when I was showing my cousin we are using the same app and when I clicked off HALF of my storie was gone wi was furious so plz fix this bug or whatever this is and I know u are gonna do nothing so yea. ### 1/5 — Needs better userguide *2024-03-03* Haha, yeah. It actually needs ANY help or FAQ because it has none that I can find. If there is one, maybe put it out there where it can be found, and all these bad reviews will stop. Really, is there any user guide anywhere? If so, please tell me where it is and move it somewhere so that everyone can easily find it. It's not intuitive, from what I can see, so not having a user guide pretty much makes it useless. What I can see is actually less usable than my own file organization in Google Docs. This is frustrating because, from the description, it obviously looked good to me, and there are a few good reviews; I know that sometimes what works for one person won’t work for everyone. I expected more. I’m a moron for paying for it right away. Did you have anyone test this software? While poking around looking for the user guide there were a couple of places where the only way to navigate out was to restart. Does it have a place to work on outlines? The character sections are just notes, which for me, is fine because I have my own format for character creation, but maybe some structure would help some people. And what about world-building-type notes? I write fantasy, and I end up with tons of world-building notes. Does it do anything to pull everything together into a publishable format? I downloaded the app, and started creating my book. I didn’t use the “drafts” or “characters” feature although those are nice features to have. The first page literally says that it is the first page and all you have to do is edit it to say what you want it to say. Then add new pages as needed. The screen that shows all pages will show the first line only until you tap on it. That’s understandable, considering that hopefully you will have a lot of pages and this will help you to find one quickly. I like that you can add notes to your pages and outlines to the chapters. Anyway, once you get your pages saved then you can go back out to the previous menu and it will show you previews of each page that you can then click on. And these previews are like thumbnail images of what the whole page looks like. That’s the best way I know to describe it anyway. But I used it with no problems. My work was saved to the cloud and it was still there when I went back to it later.
