This app consistently charges double—and sometimes even triple—the local rate for transportation. You’re much better off waiting until you’re actually at the location to book anything. Local options are almost always cheaper, easier, and more flexible. To make matters worse, the app doesn’t work offline. If you’ve already booked something through it, make sure you screenshot everything—confirmation, tickets, schedules—because once you’re out of service or on the road, you won’t be able to access your bookings. In short: overpriced, unreliable, and ultimately not worth it. ### 1/5 — Very very very conflicted *2025-04-18, version 1.8.5* Awful service. Don’t capable to solve any issues with clients. Their customer service denied the request claiming the operator doesn’t allow it. However, had I booked the same ferry ticket through the operator and not through this service, I would not have had this issue as they’ll just allow you to switch ferries. Wir hatten einen Bus von Pattaya nach Bangkok gebucht, doch dieser wurde nur 45 Minuten vor Abfahrt storniert. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt waren wir bereits auf dem Weg zur Station. Das einzige Alternativangebot war ein Bus, der 40 Minuten später abfuhr, was unsere gesamte Reiseplanung durcheinandergebracht hat. Wir hatten einen Flug von Bangkok gebucht, und durch diese Verzögerung bestand die Gefahr, dass wir ihn verpassen. Eine Stornierung so kurzfristig ist absolut inakzeptabel und zeugt von mangelnder Zuverlässigkeit. Der entstandene Stress und die möglichen zusätzlichen Kosten hätten vermieden werden können. Wir können diesen Service leider nicht weiterempfehlen. ### 1/5 — Pretty Bad *2024-12-02, version 1.8.2* Bugs. Incorrect addresses. Incompetent and horribly slow customer service. One of my issues took over a month to resolve somehow. I was blamed for an incorrect pick up address in the system which was clearly a bug. Instead of simply offering to refund me (after purchasing multiple tickets, some redundant), they tried to blame the carrier and get them to pay for the refund. Terrible. Obviously they wouldn’t, and so they decided to make up some convoluted story that somehow I was at fault for their bad data. I can see now from the other reviews that I’m not alone in experiencing a rather disappointing situation. ### 1/5 — DO NOT BOOK WITH BOOKAWAY *2024-11-04, version 1.7* I have taken many sleeper buses these last years, and in Vietnam, we booked with BOOKAWAY. But the bus that picked us up was a different bus than the one we had booked. The bus was over an hour late, it was overbooked so people were sleeping on the floor, no toilet break, bus smelled awful… and then arrived 3 hours too late, on a different destination at about 30km from the described destination, which made us miss our appointment for the Halong Bay cruise that day. Customer service just offered us 10% discount on our next trip… what a joke 😂 Horrible experience. ### 1/5 — NOT RECOMMENDED *2024-09-08* I do not recommend at all this application to take buses in vietnam. I am touring the country and I have already had problems with 2 buses taken with this company, to the point that today the bus has not passed to pick us up at the point where they have indicated and have left us stranded in the middle of the city, with nowhere to go and without any solution. Also the locations given on the tickets that Bookaway sends you are not correct. You have to call to make sure and even with that they do not pass (as happened to us today in the city of Quy Nhon with the company Tan Duong Hong and in the city of Nhan Trang with the company Sapa Discovery Travel which arrived 40 minutes late). **Developer response:** Dear alesanciaspoots, we’re truly sorry for the issues you’ve faced with our service and the inconvenience it has caused. I then had to make last minute alternative arrangements at a much higher cost. Very very disappointing ### 1/5 — DO NOT USE! *2026-05-04, version 1.18.9* PAID for 2 shuttle tickets. Shuttle driver said it’s common for BookAway to sell tickets and not reserve with the shuttle service. Shuttle was booked. We, and another couple, were left to fend for ourselves. THEY STILL HAVEN’T EVEN REFUNDED ME! ### 1/5 — Do not purchase tickets using this app *2026-04-23, version 1.18.8* Booked a ferry ticket in Philippines - got to the ferry port and discovered paid more than DOUBLE the actual ferry price. Will never be using this app again and will be discouraging others from doing so. Each time, I receive the same response: “We are actively following up on your case and will update you as soon as we have news.” It has already been one month since I first reported this issue, and it is extremely frustrating to continue waiting without any clear resolution—especially as my card continues to incur interest charges during this time. Could you please provide a contact number where I can speak with someone directly? Waiting several days for each email response is not an efficient way to resolve this matter. I would appreciate your immediate attention and a more concrete update on the status of my case. We were issued tickets on the 1 am bus and charged in Euros and the agent assigned to our ticket is ghosting us after a couple of messages that include a screenshot of the tickets we chose. Then you go on their website and the chatbot can’t comprehend simple responses and once an agent responds they send a message and immediately close the chat without allowing you to respond. ### 1/5 — They sell tickets, but don't offer refunds if you cancel. *2025-10-19, version 1.8.10* Fraudsters and scammers! I booked tickets, paid, and almost immediately (literally 10 minutes later) I needed to cancel. They flatly refused a refund, even though the service wasn't fully rendered. They want to sell, but they don't want to return the tickets if they cancel so quickly! The customer has no rights. Horrible vacation experience! Don't use this service, you'll regret it many times over!!! ### 1/5 — My Driver No Show *2025-10-08, version 1.8.10* There is no driver show up at Tbilisi International Airport, I supposedly travel to yerevan armenia using this bookaway services but have to take airport taxi to go there since no driver waiting us at arrival hall as per instruction in booking confirmation.
