### 5/5 — A good idea for a reading app

*2019-03-28, version 1.1.4*

Reading is still difficult for my 7 year old, but everything helps. She finds the app really helpful when she mispronounces words or has trouble reading them. It took her a few tries but she’s getting the hang of it.

### 5/5 — Mum approved!

*2019-03-28, version 1.1.4*

My son absolutely loves this app! He can't get enough of the animal stories. Before I signed up for a subscription, I talked to their support team and they said they’re working on adding more stories too. Very nice concept! Kudos to the developers!

### 5/5 — Great reading App for kids!

*2019-03-26, version 1.1.4*

Great for all young kids to grow reading abilities. My daughter is 7 and struggles when it comes to reading. She likes the stories available to her and finds the line focused on the line helps her to read.

### 5/5 — Great Reading App!

*2019-03-22, version 1.1.4*

Love this app for motivating reading. My son is enjoying this! I let him choose what books he wants to read and we’ve only tried a couple so far. I know it will take a while for him to read really well but what I’m seeing is a great start!!

### 5/5 — Good Concept, liking it so far

*2019-03-20, version 1.1.4*

Huge fan of this app! I paid for a whole year up front and I think it’s a great deal. We had a bit of trouble at the start but support was very accommodating and made sure I had it working.

### 5/5 — Great for independent practice

*2019-03-15, version 1.1.3*

I teach and tutor ESL learners, and I have found this to be an excellent tool for reading practice. For any reader with extra challenges, being able to have a book be a personal and private experience is rare. The system gives them guidance and structure while still allowing them to be independent. I look forward to more titles being available as I think the app has a lot of potential.

### 5/5 — Awesome app works great

*2019-03-15, version 1.1.3*

Well we have only been using it for a few days and I'm already seeing an improvement with my son's reading skills and quite frankly, I couldn't be happier. I know we've got a long way to go but the subscription has really been worth it. I had a problem with the app when I initially used it but support was pretty helpful in my experience. All in all a great app and would recommend you give it a try.

### 5/5 — Cool voice recognition

*2019-03-14, version 1.1.3*

The voice recognition is neat. It recognises most of my son’s reading. Great that he can read on his own.

### 5/5 — Great concept

*2019-03-14, version 1.1.3*

Brilliant idea, works well to assist with reading or just provide additional content for travels.

### 5/5 — Great Idea!

*2019-03-14, version 1.1.3*

I really love this app! I think for children these days its a great way to get them to practice their reading. The books are easy to use and have clear writing and lots of visuals which I think helps too. If you have kids would definitely recommend this.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2019-03-13, version 1.1.3*

I love this for my boys. Highlighting the line they are reading has been a huge help, it has really helped them to focus on the words they are trying to read. I highly recommend this app to all parents and teachers too.

### 4/5 — Great for your children!

*2019-03-13, version 1.1.3*

The simple and friendly artwork makes it nice to use and the words are written in large enough fonts to read well, The best feature I found is that it can listen to your child speak and correct them if it’s wrong, I found very minimal issues with this and it did help improve their pronunciation. One thing however is the layout could be a little more intuitive, I would recommend for your kids.

### 4/5 — This app is really good!!!

*2019-03-12, version 1.1.3*

This is a pretty good concept to help kids learn to read. The app follows you along as you read out loud, focussing on the words you need to read. The library size is ok, but I’d like to see more books.

### 5/5 — Good concept and has been working for our grade 2

*2019-03-11, version 1.1.3*

Even though we still do reading practice with our son, we like to encourage him to read by himself. After a few practice runs we found Bookbot gives him that independence. We would like to see more books in the library, but this is a good start.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not Worth It

*2026-08-14, version 3.5.0*

Bot speaks with an annoying accent and speech recognition keeps glitching

### 1/5 — Why does it need an email address

*2020-04-16, version 1.3*

I wish it did not need a parent email it should just let you in because what if your parents do not give emails to apps I need this app but can not use it because as my parents do not give emails to apps unless it is for adults oh and I had to delete it as I could not log in I wish I could use it reading is so hard for me but I can not use this app so please fix it or do something about please a. You please let us just read I am dyslectic I think because my teachers said you are not very clever but reading is impossible my friends has this app and says it helps her so SORT IT OUT

### 1/5 — I pre-ordered

*2018-12-29, version 1.0*

Do not download this app. I'm having the same exact issue as Tjformore but I pre-ordered it and paid for the lifetime subscription. I’ve sent several emails but have not been helped. It stays on the logging in screen for a very long time and then it says that I do not have access. I’ve reset my password and it still doesn’t work. At this point I just want a refund.

### 1/5 — Keeps failing to register

*2018-12-26, version 1.0*

Tried two different email accounts and passwords and keeps returning a message of failed to log in try a different account ?????

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2018-08-10, version 1.0*

It’s a great concept and I’ve been waiting for this app to become available. But it doesn’t work. I have tried creating an account and was not able to with Facebook, email or google. I really wanted this app to work so my son could try it. I tried app support and it just redirects me to Facebook. Please fix this app!!

### 2/5 — Great concept to digitize the learn to read experience

*2019-03-13, version 1.1.3*

I think a reading bot for children is a wonderful idea especially if it helps them read, be corrected and pronounce well. I think a demo/ trial book upfront before signing up is always helpful.

I think there are areas to improve the client journey for an adult verse child but the Bot is friendly and the overall experience easy to follow.

I couldn’t get it to work so this would be most helpful in providing a user friendly experience.

### 3/5 — Good concept

*2019-03-07, version 1.1.3*

I like the concept of this app but would like to see a feature where the child tap the word or be said before they make a mistake. My son is dyslexic and he was frustrated when he knew that he didn’t know the word but had to say it wrong before the option to hear it would appear. Also, the voice doesn’t seem to pronounce some of the words correctly.

### 4/5 — Great app for kids

*2024-08-28, version 3.2.33*

Great for kids who are slower to learn to read. Only issue is it’s slow to recognise the voice which frustrates my children. Need to be able to resync the voice maybe to make sure it’s hearing correctly. Have same issue on phone and tablet.

### 4/5 — Doesn’t load

*2024-06-25, version 3.2.6*

The app doesn’t load in any device I just have the white screen of death appear…….

### 4/5 — GOOD CONCEPT

*2019-03-27, version 1.1.4*

We read with our son, but we find that he needs more practice. This works for him. The illustrations looks good. It would be better if it worked without the internet.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — This app is great

I love this app. This is the best app for kids.

### 5/5 — Bookbot

*2024-03-12, version 3.1.8*

Absolutely fantastic especially for my 5 year old boy it keeps him engaged and he loves reading time now :)

My 7 year old loves it aswell and she likes the fact she can read by herself whereas the little one likes to read along with bookbot.

Absolutely love it and so do the children. Keeps them busy when I’m busy doing other chores!

### 5/5 — Fun and engaging

*2024-03-06, version 3.1.8*

Helps the learner clearly and correctly, pronounce words. great addition for homeschooling

### 5/5 — Amazing tool to help young reader develop further

*2024-03-05, version 3.1.8*

My 5yo son has learnt so much from practicing reading on this app. It is engaging, and interesting, and it made him interested enough to continue reading more and more and increase his level.

### 5/5 — Bookbot

*2022-08-15, version 2.2.10*

This app is really good because I can hear and help my child read and now she likes reading and Bookbot listens to her read so yeah I think the book is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

### 5/5 — My daughter loves this!

*2022-02-24, version 2.1.14*

My daughter loves reading the books from this app. She learns new words every day and has captured her interest and love for reading. Highly recommend this app to supplement reading time as well as learning English.

### 5/5 — Brilliant for little readers

*2019-05-17, version 1.1.6*

This is an awesome app for those with kids who struggle to read. Love how kids can read along and be corrected, and there’s a good range of books.

### 5/5 — Really interesting solution

*2019-05-17, version 1.1.6*

I love that BookBot uses voice recogniztion to supervise a kid’s reading because supervised reading is still really the only way to help kids improve their reading deficit, and we just don’t have the resources to have a 1:1 relationship between kid and supervisor often enough to make good progress. BookBot can really help.

### 5/5 — Good education app

*2019-04-02, version 1.1.4*

It’s a great concept and it has so much potential. It’s not a free app and has a subscription on the website. I think it’s worth it if your child has difficulty in reading like my kid.

### 5/5 — Sons loves it!

*2019-04-02, version 1.1.4*

Great internet is a requirement. I had trouble with it at first because of our wifi. My boys (ages 6 and 8) like it and it has some good educational content. Clever learning tool for children.
