### 1/5 — Broken

*2023-09-21*

Shows api error. Stopped working a few days ago. My plex is fine, works with Plexamp

### 1/5 — Not free

*2023-08-14*

This app is not free and requires a monthly or yearly subscription. Sticking with Prologue as it only has a one-time fee.

### 1/5 — Likely a scam

*2023-02-18*

They ask for your email then ask for a subscription. There is no free functionality at all, I don’t understand why Apple would allow this app to advertise itself as free.

### 1/5 — Can't link to my Plex library

*2023-02-09*

Foloowed all the instructions but it says I have no Audiobooks libarray...when I do.

### 1/5 — Paid / subscription

*2022-12-02*

Don’t know why this shows up as free. It has no free component. There is no way to try it out without signing up and paying a subscription fee.

### 1/5 — No support

*2022-08-17*

I can't link my Plex audiobooks library to the app. I asked the developer for help a few times and havent received a reply.
There is another app that does the same thing and works, called Prologue

### 1/5 — Requires purchase - deceptive practice

*2021-11-24*

This app requires an account (including email), plus an in-app purchase to even open. Zero functionality before then. Deceptive marketing practice.

### 1/5 — Ridiculous pricing

*2021-11-20*

$20AUD A YEAR to do anything is an absolutely absurd price. I host all of my own media - why is this a subscription? Prologue is far more reasonably priced with a once off purchase.

### 1/5 — Great idea, bad execution

*2021-11-09*

This app doesn’t find my audiobooks. I was looking forward to this but it doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — Can’t find any audio libraries

*2021-09-28*

This app can’t find any libraries with the latest version of Plex

### 1/5 — It doesn’t read the meta data correctly

*2021-09-07*

All of my audiobooks have complete meta data. This program properly displays the book title and cover art, but lists the author for all the books as “Various Artists” which means I can’t search for a book by its author. If I’m missing something, let me know. Otherwise, I’m going to cancel before I’m billed.

### 1/5 — They REALLY push their subscription

*2021-09-04*

Impossible to check the app out without signing up for a paid service.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App links to my plex account but will not play files on my iPhone

*2025-11-21*

I tried everything and cannot get it to work on my iPhone but app works on my Hiby R4. Functionally the same as prologue but $3/month more and has more bugs.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-05-01*

I don’t know how others got it working. All it does is list my books. It doesn’t show art. I can’t get any book to play. I restarted it and still no playback and no art. Hard to pay a subscription to an app that doesn’t work. It is pretty useless.

### 1/5 — Pathetic

*2025-03-26*

Not even usable I was willing to sprang the subscription money if it worked but it wouldn’t even recognize my library

### 1/5 — Nice idea. No carplay support

*2025-02-02, version 1.2.1*

What sort of an audiobook app fails to support CarPlay? Such promise. Such a failure.

### 1/5 — Do not download this app

*2025-02-02*

Scam. It’s not free to use, and does not function well. It gladly accepts your Plex login info and then most books will not even play. Riddled with issues. SCAM!

### 1/5 — App fails to locate Plex files

*2024-11-15*

Requiring a login is lame. Charging a subscription is worse. Failing to find audiobooks on Plex or even prompting the user to select a library makes the app useless. If there is a specific setup required to make this work then it should be made known to users.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work at all

*2024-08-04*

Decided to try this app as an alternative to prologue since prologue does not recognize book chapters in my m4b files. This app connected to my Plex library with no issues and finds the books and also chapters. However, it will not play any book and just says encountered and error please try again.

### 1/5 — Fails to load 9 times out of 10

*2024-06-21*

Just download Prologue and save yourself the hassle.

### 1/5 — Low quality compared to Prologue

*2024-05-12*

Shouldn’t be a subscription app. Requires no infrastructure and has no updates in 8 months. Abandonware.

### 1/5 — Abandonware

*2024-01-17, version 1.2.1*

This app has essentially been abandoned since release with the creator investing all of their time on the Android version. The one iOS has is still awful and just doesn’t work.

The subscription is solely to sync your playback location which is so limited in this space that it frankly isn’t worth the money. If you’ve got your own audiobooks and the knowledge to run a server, you’re better off with Audiobookshelf by a long shot.

## Most praised reviews (4 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works great

*2025-03-10*

Setup was short and sweet. Under 1 minute. So excited to use this as the plex interface for audio books stinks 🤣

### 5/5 — Solid App with Promise!

*2021-08-21*

While still in the early stages this app exceeds pretty much everything that came before it. If you have your Plex server open to the outside, you are golden. The annual subscription for the service is totally worth it with the playback features, downloading and ease of syncing your place in playback across multiple devices is a godsend and I don't have to rely on Audible anymore and can use my DRM free files in the same manner. Looking forward to new features and continued cleanup of the app.

### 4/5 — Nice app; Plex is a problem

*2025-01-06*

Bookcamp is certainly a nice app. Now, can you guys tell me how to better access my audio files either on my Plex server or is there another solution please help!

### 3/5 — Potential to be great but…

*2024-02-01*

I’ve had high hopes for Bookcamp since I learned about it a year back when looking for a good app to play my audiobooks from Plex on. I was bummed to find out there were major errors that didn’t allow the books to play, so I had to revert back to my old app. I really love the sleek look of Bookcamp and kept checking back for updates. Found out today there was an update 5 months ago and redownloaded to check to see if it was any better. The great news is, my books load now and start fairly quickly! The potential dealbreaker now though, is there isn’t a way to see info about a book, when you click into it it just plays. There also seems to be some issues with the main login page, as when I didn’t type anything and just submitted I got an object/object error.
I want to encourage the developer(s) to keep refining this app, once everything is stable and smooth I can promise the subscription fee will be more palatable to consumers.
