Also the import from Goodreads does not work. I had to manually transfer info from Goodreads ### 4/5 — Deleted books don’t stay deleted *2025-11-18, version 1.507* I love this app with the exception of one super annoying issue. You are unable to permanently delete books that you add or that the Goodreads import gets incorrect. The books appear to be deleted immediately after trying to delete them but if you refresh the open, or close and reopen it, all of the deleted books reappear. Most important for me was to be able to add notes so I can remember some of them better. A few issues though.. Goodreads was difficult to transfer over but I felt that was more on their end. Some came through as multiples and I keep deleting them but they seem to keep coming back! I also am struggling to separate my book series and having them stay that way as well. There can be multiple versions of the same book and to add them to group as a series has been exhausting. But still a great app. ### 3/5 — deleted books reappear *2024-01-14, version 1.505* I imported my books from GoodReads. Most of them came in okay but a few came in as the wrong book. No biggie….I deleted the incorrect book and manually added the correct book. Anytime I exit the app and return the deleted books have reappeared in my collection. I have tried deleting them from each section (finished, reviews, journals, five star reads, etc) and they still reappear in the finished section. We are trying to find the problem you have experienced. ### 2/5 — I Want to Love this App... *2023-09-28, version 1.041* I love the look of this app and the functions, but I have a big issue with the pricing of the premium functions. As a free user, you can have three journals with fifty MAX book entries. Otherwise, you can spend $5 a month to have unlimited. There's not too many other premium features, so that's a steep price to be able to list more than 50 books in your journals. I'd rather use GoodReads. It's similar and free. ### 3/5 — Unfortunately not working *2023-09-26, version 1.041* Downloaded app today in hopes of trying and finding a new book tracker. For some reason I am unable to add and save the books I’ve read. I tried multiple times but after pushing the add, no lists or titles are added. I get an error message every time and told to go to discord to report the issue but then my messages are marked as undeliverable. Signing up was easy, but importing my Goodreads data would not work. I tried multiple times with the same file that worked for other apps and was the file type BookJournal requested I upload. Obstacles like this at the beginning of a user/customer experience is not great. ### 1/5 — Great Concept, Poor Execution *2024-07-05, version 1.507* I was excited to use this app, but I never really got to. It kept saying no connection on the Home Screen of the app. Then, when it did connect, it wouldn’t return results for any of the searches I tried. Add to that the cost of the premium membership to have access to all the features of the app (you have to pay monthly or annually; no single time option), and the app just doesn’t deliver. Really frustrating because I transferred ALL of my TBR and reading log into this app and now I have nothing. ### 2/5 — I had to delete it *2025-04-03, version 1.507* It has potential to one of the best book tracking apps, but it has a lot of bugs to fix. I imported my books from GR but I would have to spend way too much time fixing the book titles/covers. Some of the books were completely wrong. Different titles by different authors would take the place of an actual book I read. Some books were duplicates? Throw the count off. Deleted books wouldn’t stay deleted, just a mess. There is a forum, sort to speak, where you can suggest fixes, but until they do that it was way too frustrating to use. ### 2/5 — Love the idea, hate the app *2024-03-09, version 1.507* I saw an ad for this app and was very excited. This has the potential to be an app I use daily, but there is a major flaw. The ability to import from Goodreads is great, but unfortunately doesn’t work well. I had one title added 6 times during import and not one was the correct version. Adding manually is tedious for those of us who read a lot and want to start off by importing our current lists. No where isn’t the app does it tell you the app name either. Also, can we please have half star options for ratings! This app could’ve used more iteration before rollout. It’s a great concept and I think could be wildly successful this feature worked better. Sadly, this will drive people away from the app. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Love *2025-07-20, version 1.507* I absolutely love this app. I have sent it to every book lover I know. ### 5/5 — I use this daily *2025-04-27, version 1.507* Honestly I really like this app. I have added my entire TBR from the catalog already on there, you can do half star ratings, there are monthly and yearly reading goals, currently reading section, a bookshelf section for the books you’ve completed and a journal function (which I haven’t tried) and that’s just the free version. You can also keep track of how far along you are in a book when it’s in currently reading section. I use this like a bookmark almost! Whenever I’m done I just update what page I’m on. I don’t have the paid version so I don’t know if it’s on there or not but the only thing I’d add is more information like a timer to track how long it takes you to read a book, etc. ### 5/5 — The Best Book Journal App I’ve Found *2024-01-24, version 1.506* I love this app! It’s pretty new and has room for development but there’s nothing better out there for me. I downloaded 500+ books from Goodreads to start my records. Many books needed swapping as descriptions were absent but I expect the process will be easier as the app matures. Several issues I have figured out workarounds. I’m patient in waiting for fixes. Nothing too frustrating. Free and paid versions are not different enough but have a significant difference in cost. I would subscribe to paid if it was a one time payment or lower yearly cost. The free version is all I really need — I don’t categorize my books like paid version provides. I appreciate being able to see my books on bookshelves divided into several categories — Finished, TBR and Currently Reading. Can also view as a list or book covers. Developer maintains a Wishlist for upcoming changes that can be voted on by app owners. So many good things to say about Bookjournal App! ### 5/5 — I’m very excited about this *2023-09-26, version 1.041* I have been following book journal on tik for a while but never bought it because I’m a digital girl so I was very excited to see this app. It’s definitely a work in progress but my favorite thing about this is the wish section. You can write down a wish you want for this app and up vote other people’s wishes and the creator takes them into account when updating the app. You can even see which wishes/features have been added because of it. I’m very excited to see where this app goes because I feel like it will be the perfect book logging app ### 5/5 — Glitching *2023-09-24, version 1.041* I love love love the app. But it’s been crashing the entire day and I haven’t been able to update my journals.
