They not only charged me 354 convenience fee for booking the tickets but then proceeded to charge me an additional 750 rs to cancel my tickets without providing me a refund on my initial convenience fee. I wished to modify my booking to another timing and if I did that via bookmyshow I would have been charged another 354 rs in convenience fees. Bookmyshow will blame their terrible policy on their theater partners but it’s the app’s onus to make it right since they are the ones who charge a convenience fee in the first place. But recently I was utterly disappointed. I booked tickets for a live event (comedy standup) for a group of 4 in patna. We all had to travel a great deal (25km in city traffic), during heavy rain to reach to venue on time. Upon reaching, someone at Venue told us that the even had been cancelled already. I mean, neither BookMyShow took any accountability nor the event manager. Who will take the ownership of wasting our time, effort, fuel? Why was I not informed well in advance about cancellation when the show was canceled atleast 2 days before it was supposed to be happening ### 1/5 — Cancellation and modification request *2026-07-24, version 7.2.1* I had a terrible experience with BookMyShow's cancellation policy. I accidentally booked tickets for a movie releasing next week instead of the one releasing today. I immediately contacted customer support and requested if they could simply modify or exchange my booking to today's show. Instead of helping with a simple change, they told me the only option was to cancel the booking. To make matters worse, they deducted nearly ₹1,000 as a cancellation charge on a ticket worth ₹2,968. Charging such a high cancellation fee for an honest mistake, especially when the request was made immediately, feels completely unreasonable and unfair. A customer-friendly platform should offer flexibility for genuine booking errors instead of imposing excessive penalties. This experience has left me very disappointed, and I hope BookMyShow reviews its cancellation and modification policies to treat customers more fairly. Until then, I would advise others to double-check every booking because even a small mistake can end up being very expensive. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t Accept Cards *2026-07-17, version 7.2.1* The app works well but when it comes to making payment with a North American credit card for events in Sri Lanka it gives an error with the actual purchase attempt not even registering with the CC issuer as verified by them. I tried two cards, both use all the time in Sri Lanka and neither worked. It kept saying declined but the card issuers said they didn’t decline them and their records confirm this. So don’t get your hopes up if you are from North America! ### 4/5 — Sonic’s *2026-07-11, version 7.2.0* Ok ### 1/5 — Bad experience in aura cinema mattannur kannur *2026-07-02* Today, the 10:00 PM show of the movie *Balan* at Aura cinema Mattannur kannur,theatre was cancelled on the grounds that there were not enough viewers, stating that there were fewer than 10 people. Cancelling a show without any prior notification is extremely disappointing and reflects a lack of responsibility. We had booked our tickets in advance and arrived at the theatre with our family, only to learn about the cancellation after reaching there. This caused us a significant waste of time, financial loss, and unnecessary inconvenience. If a show has to be cancelled, it is the basic responsibility of the theatre management to inform the audience in advance. Failing to provide any prior notice and causing inconvenience to families who have travelled to the theatre is completely unacceptable. We strongly demand a clear explanation regarding this incident and request that appropriate measures be taken to ensure that such negligence is not repeated in the future. I had booked 5 tickets, and I even requested that I be allowed to purchase the remaining 5 tickets required to meet their minimum audience requirement so that the show could proceed. However, since it was already 10:10 PM, they refused to do so. When booking tickets at this theatre, viewers should first make sure that enough people have booked, because this theatre appears to have little regard for its customers.
