Does not constantly ask you to subscribe to premium subscription, it does have one, it just doesn't hide important features in it, and it doesn't even tell you about that often. Has a sleep timer, speed settings, bookmarks, and even tracks listening hours. Let's you upload your own files, and easily organize them into folders. Each folder and book even has it's completion circle, so you can easily how much you have left to listen in a series of books. Does not seem to have any cons that I have found in fact, and I tried several apps before this one, this is by far the best audiobook app on IOS that I have found. ### 3/5 — Autoplay need work *2026-08-05, version 5.21.1* Does what its name implies, plays books. Decent features like sleep settings and bookmarks. I’m surprised how easily it was to move the MP3 files into BookPlayer and it automatically strung them together as a single book in alphabetical order as I’d hoped. When Siri interrupts in the car it pauses a then repeats a few words rather than skip. Has good user options that I like. I hate this app now. The note export format is terrible; the notes need to stay within the audio file. They really should have an iCloud backup for notes. I don't understand why they only allow this if you pay such a high monthly fee, especially since it uses my own iCloud. If they charge because they use third-party servers, they should at least provide an option to back up data to our own iCloud. I come back to it after a while that feature is now paywalled? What gives? I especially like that, when using the sleep timer, the timer is restarted after you press play. It’s a feature I came to depend on in Audible and I miss it when I use apps like Libby. My only complaint is that the pro subscription is astronomical if you don’t need cloud sync (which I understand is needed for the infrastructure). I’d like to have the offline watch support and I guess themes would be nice but that’s not really necessary for me. $50 per year is ludicrous if you don’t need sync.
