## What is bookshelv?

bookshelv is your library on your phone: every book in one place, what you're reading, what you've read and who borrowed which book.

START WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT
• Your library lives on your device. No account, no email address, no server needed.
• Book details and covers come straight from the German National Library and Open Library.
• Back up to your own iCloud – or to a file, wherever you like.

ADD BOOKS
• Scan the ISBN, even many books in a row (bulk scan for the whole shelf).
• Search by title or author, or enter a book yourself – with your own cover.
• Print, e-book or audiobook, paperback or hardcover, sprayed edges or not.
• Moving is easy: import from Goodreads, StoryGraph, Booky or CSV – just open the export file with bookshelv.

READ AND RATE
• Reading progress by page, reading dates, "did not finish" and a wishlist.
• Reviews with half stars, moods and pace.
• Reading lists, your top 5 on a wooden shelf, series, follow authors and see new releases.
• Stats: books and pages per month, mood curve, genres, formats, ratings – and a year in review to share as an image.

LEND WITHOUT FORGETTING
• Who has which of your books, and since when? With due dates and a heads-up when something is overdue.

WITH FRIENDS (OPTIONAL)
• With an account on a bookshelv instance you see what your friends are reading, ask to borrow books and start buddy reads with spoiler protection.
• The app keeps your library available offline; changes are sent later.
• Connect your local library to an account at any time – without duplicate books.
• bookshelv is open source (MIT): you can run your own instance for your circle of friends.

FAIR AND PRIVATE
• No ads, no tracking, no analytics.
• Accounts only need a name and a password and can be deleted in the app.
• bookshelv is free. Tips are welcome.
