## What is Booktime?

Booktime is built to solve one specific problem:
You want to read, but you keep ending up on your phone without realizing it.

You sit down with a book.
A few minutes later, your hand reaches for your phone.
Notifications. Scrolling. “Just a second.”
Your reading session is over — without a clear moment where you chose to stop.
Booktime is designed to break that loop.

It works by changing one rule:
Your reading time only counts while ReadMore is open on your screen.
If you leave the app — to check messages, scroll social media, or open anything else — the timer stops instantly.
No background tracking.
No passive counting.
No pretending you were still reading.

This creates a simple but powerful constraint:
If you want your reading time to count, you must stay off your phone.
ReadMore doesn’t block apps.
It doesn’t shame you.
It doesn’t send reminders.
It simply makes distraction visible.
The moment you drift, the session ends.
The moment you return, you start again.
This forces awareness. You stop “accidentally” scrolling. You notice how often your phone interrupts you. Over time, your brain learns that reaching for the phone has a cost: your reading session disappears.

The interface is intentionally minimal.
Large timer. Dark screen. No clutter.
Nothing competes with the book in your hands.

Booktime tracks only real reading:
• Time counted only while the app is open
• Sessions stop instantly when you leave the app
• Daily and historical totals reflect actual focus
• Optional blackout mode to reduce visual distraction

There are no accounts.
No analytics.
No social features.
No artificial productivity tricks.
All data is stored locally on your device. If you delete the app, everything is gone. You stay in control.

Booktime is not a habit app.
It’s not a blocker.
It’s not a productivity game.
It’s a constraint-based tool for people who already want to read — but keep getting pulled away by their phone.
If you can stay focused, your time counts.
If you scroll, it doesn’t.
That’s the point.
