For this reason I couldn’t get the app started. I’m on an iPad. It’s really infuriating that I can’t continue after that one part. ### 2/5 — You can’t read books for free *2026-05-28, version 1.7.22* Downloaded this app because ads made it seem like I could listen to/read ACOTAR content. Unfortunately, I was hit with multiple subscription screens and eventually a paywall with no visible way to close or continue for free. I tried waiting, swiping, reopening the app, and checking for hidden close buttons, but nothing worked. It was really frustrating because I just wanted to try the app before deciding if it was worth paying for. The narration does rewrite what is uploaded, but for the most part it gets the story right. Sometimes it will read what I wrote word for word, other times it summarizes. I think that it would be better for writers if it stuck to how the story is written. The AI narrators are surprisingly realistic. The app is quite limited, though. It would be nice if readers could leave comments, likes and ratings. A creator dashboard that includes analytics would also be useful. Allowing free trials for readers and creators would boost downloads and purchases. I think this app has a lot of potential and hope it continues to improve and introduce new features like the ones I mentioned. ### 5/5 — DO NOT DOWNLOAD *2026-02-20, version 1.7.20* SUPPORT AUTHORS NOT CHEAPLY MADE AI APPS! The only reason I give this 5 stars is in the hopes that you all see this … this is in fact a 0/5 stars app because this is just AI trash DO NOT SUPPORT THESE APPS! Support the authors that write the books PLEASE… I understand it’s tempting to “ watch the books” but it’s not worth your time or money. I downloaded the app just to see how horrible this really is and you can’t even watch without paying for a subscription. There’s zero permission from the authors to publish their books in this way. We all like to talk about red flags so let’s make this simple for you 🚩#1- publishing books without authors permission 🚩#2: you have to pay to watch stolen content from real authors 🚩#3: it’s AI trash 🤖🚮 Please please please do not support this app if you can report it! But the app itself feels rushed? No progress indicator during generation so you just stare at a spinning wheel. Accidentally hit back once and lost a 15 min generation.
