## What is BookWorm?

Turn reading into a daily habit you can see.

BookWorm is a warm, beautifully designed reading tracker for books, ebooks and audiobooks. Track your pages, listening time, reading streaks, goals, notes and yearly progress in one calm place.

No feed. No noise. No ads. Just your library, your progress, and a friendly reading companion that helps you finish more books.

WHY READERS USE BOOKWORM

• Track books, ebooks and audiobooks
• Count pages and listening time toward one daily goal
• Build a reading streak that gives you a reason to read today
• See your reading calendar fill in as the year unfolds
• Track books finished, pages read, hours listened and days read
• See your favorite genres and format breakdown
• Add reading notes while you read
• Re-read a favorite and keep each reading in your history

BUILT FOR REAL READING HABITS

BookWorm is for readers who want a book tracker that feels simple enough to use every day.

Add a book by searching for the title or scanning its barcode. Book covers, page counts and audiobook details are filled in automatically when available. Log progress in seconds, whether you read a chapter, listened during a walk, or finished a book months ago and want your calendar to remember it.

FOR BOOKS, EBOOKS AND AUDIOBOOKS

Not every reader turns pages. BookWorm lets physical books and ebooks use page progress, while audiobooks use hours and minutes. Both count toward the same reading goal, so your habit reflects how you actually read.

YOUR PERSONAL BOOKSHELF

Keep track of what you are reading, what you finished, what is paused, and what you want to read next. Add your own genres, mark favorites, edit book details, and keep your library organized without turning reading into admin work.

READING STATS THAT FEEL USEFUL

BookWorm shows the numbers that actually help:
• Books finished
• Pages read
• Listening hours
• Reading days
• Current streak
• Best streak
• Format breakdown
• Most-read genres
• Yearly reading progress

A CALMER KIND OF MOTIVATION

BookWorm is designed to feel good without demanding attention. Saving progress has a little movement. Finishing a book feels satisfying. Widgets help you see what you are reading from your Home Screen or Lock Screen. Notifications are optional and built around your reading goal.

MADE FOR IPHONE AND IPAD

BookWorm feels at home on iPhone and now has a more spacious iPad experience too, with larger book covers, smoother popups, and layouts that make better use of the bigger screen.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

Your library lives on your device and in your own iCloud. There is no account, no sign up, no email address, no ads, and no cross-app tracking. BookWorm never sends your book titles, author names, display name, profile photo or search text to analytics.

FREE, WITH AN OPTIONAL TIP JAR

Every feature is free. No subscription. No paywall. No locked screens. If BookWorm earns its place on your Home Screen, an optional tip supports one independent developer.

### 5/5 — Fantastically Simple!

*2026-07-31*

I have been looking at many book tracking apps. I've used Goodreads for years. I wanted something simple, setting that looks good, and something with the features that I like. This app hits just about everything.

I was able to enter all of my books for all of 2026 (it is July) very quickly (70 books), along with the start and end dates. Any books that were not in the database, I was able to enter manually.

If I were to add/ modify a feature, I would add the ability to set your goal as the number of books read in a year, in addition to setting the number of pages/ minutes a day (or as an alternate).

Don't hesitate to try this one. It's a keeper!

**Developer response:** Dear BookDragon0612,
Thank you for the kind message, it means a lot to me :)
I appreciate the time you put into this review!
Since you are the ideal user for BookWorm, do not hesitate to reach out if you have any suggestions or anything you’d like to see added or improved.
Again, thank you so much for this kind review!
Happy reading!

### 3.0.2 — 2026-09-02

Dear BookWorm users,

This update is all about making your reading life feel more personal, motivating, and worth celebrating.
You can now add notes to the moments that stay with you, whether you are reading a physical book, an eBook, or listening to an audiobook. Your notes stay with the book, right where you need them.
We have also introduced monthly reading recaps, so you can look back on your progress, goals, and reading rhythm. When you finish a book or complete a recap, you can create and save a beautiful share image to celebrate the milestone.
You will also find smoother reading sessions, richer widgets, and thoughtful improvements throughout the app to help you stay connected to the books you love.

Thank you for reading with BookWorm!
Happy reading!

### 3.0.1 — 2026-09-01

Dear Users,
in this update, I focused on improving the notifications, their style, and their feel to make them more playful and more fun. I additionally added a new theme for you to explore and potentially enjoy, called Marginalia. As well, I improved the design for iOS versions that are pre-Liquid Glass, and I spent time making BookWorm feel at home on the newest iPhones too. Buttons now press with a little bounce instead of a gray flash, and moving around the app should feel calmer and more polished.
Thank you for reading with BookWorm.
Happy reading!

### 3.0 — 2026-08-19

BookWorm can be heard and felt now, its reminders finally tell the truth, and a hand built Retro look joins Light and Dark. This is the largest update BookWorm has had.

SOUND AND FEEL
Six hand trimmed sounds and haptics across the whole app. Saving your reading progress turns a page. Buttons click, switches flip, and finishing a book has its own celebration you can feel. Because so many of you are listening rather than reading, BookWorm's sounds can never duck or interrupt your audiobook, and they obey your ring/silent switch. Sound and haptics each have a switch in Settings, plus a test row that tells you whether a silent phone is the app's fault or your phone's.

A NEW FIRST RUN
Setting up BookWorm is a story now rather than a tour of features. It opens with the only question that matters, how many books will you read this year, asks what you like to read and what usually gets in the way, then answers you with live previews of your streak, your goal ring and your calendar. Pages turn like paper. Your first book is confirmed for format and length before it is added, so an audiobook never lands as a paperback.

THE RETRO LOOK
A whole new appearance, built by hand. Retro dresses BookWorm in a 70s sunset palette of teal, mustard and burnt orange, with chunky ink outlines, hard edged shadows, monospaced numerals and striped progress bars. Find it in Settings under Appearance, where all four looks now preview their own palette before you choose.

REMINDERS THAT TELL THE TRUTH
The midday nudge is gone. You now get at most one evening reminder, and which one depends on what you actually did today: keep going if you are partway there, a warning if a streak is genuinely at risk, a gentle nudge if there is no streak on the line, and nothing at all once you have hit your goal. A fresh start note arrives the morning after a streak ends. Turning reminders off now genuinely turns all of them off, and tapping a reminder finally opens the screen it is about.

READING QUESTS IS ALWAYS ON
The daily goal and your streak are simply part of BookWorm now, with no setting to find or forget. If you had quests switched off, your streak is rebuilt from the reading you have already logged rather than starting again at zero.

ICLOUD SYNC THAT ACTUALLY SYNCS
An old bug meant edits to books you already owned were never uploaded, and your profile stayed frozen at whatever you set during setup. That is fixed. There is also a new Sync Details screen when you want to see what iCloud is doing, a warning if you have no backup at all, and a welcome back screen so reinstalling BookWorm never puts you through setup again.

BETTER SHARE CARDS
Finishing a book deserves a souvenir. Choose a warm trophy poster or a vintage library checkout card complete with rubber stamp, in three sizes for Stories, your feed, or a square post. Each card now carries how long the book took you, your pace, how many times you paused, and its format, genre and length.

A FASTER START
BookWorm now works out whether you are a returning reader before it shows you anything, so you are never dropped into setup by mistake and never left watching a spinner.

CALENDAR, STREAKS AND GOALS
Each day's bar shows what that day actually added, so a hundred page evening looks nothing like a few pages before bed. The new year goal review no longer wishes you a happy new year in August. Update My Goal opens the goal form. The widget's Reading Quests link now reaches Reading Quests.

PRIVACY
A new Share Usage Data switch sits in Settings beside the privacy policy, and turns usage analytics off completely.

Thank you for reading with us. Happy reading!

### 2.1 — 2026-08-13

A brand-new Retro theme, richer share cards, and streak reminders that finally tell the truth.

RETRO THEME
Give BookWorm a whole new look. Retro dresses the app in a 70s sunset palette teal, mustard, burnt orange with chunky outlines, hard-edged shadows, monospaced type, and sunset chevrons. Your progress bars fill with a four-colour stripe, and the daily goal ring sweeps through the whole palette.

Find it in Settings → Appearance, alongside System, Light and Dark. Every theme card now previews its own palette, so you can see each look before you pick it.

RICHER SHARE CARDS
Finishing a book deserves a better souvenir. Choose between two designs — a warm trophy poster or a vintage library checkout card, complete with rubber stamp in three sizes for Instagram, Stories, or a square grid post. Each card now carries far more of your reading story: how long the book took, your pace, how many times you paused, format, genre and length.

HONEST STREAK REMINDERS
No more "Keep your streak going!" when you don't have a streak. Reminders now read your actual progress and change their words to match, so a nudge is always true and encouraging when you're starting fresh.

A CLEARER CALENDAR
Each day's bar now shows what that day actually added, not the book's overall progress. Days you barely read look different from days you devoured a hundred pages — because they were.

POLISH THROUGHOUT
• Your Home card now fits every iPhone properly, with nothing cut off
• Profile leads with the book you read most recently, in a larger card
• Currently Reading is sorted by what you actually touched last
• Books stand on a shared baseline, like a real shelf

Thank you for reading with us. Happy reading!
