### 4/5 — Useful *2022-08-12* It’s a really useful addition to Boom 3D. It solves the problem of not having a remote control on my monitor that I watch TV from my Mac on. So it’s a simple way of adjusting the volume. But it seems like the connection between the app and the Boom 3D client gets lost every now and again. So I have to uninstall this app and reinstall it again, and make a new connection. Which seems to fix it. Like really great, but this app, although very sweet in its simplicity and function, doesn’t allow EQ adjust. Yea, you can select presets, but you can make your own custom presets and select those with remote. So wet up might be an extra step for the advanced customization. Also, wish advanced had more than 31 frequencies, but it’s pretty good for the sale price. I hope it’s supported for a long time. I do like Boom3D. Looking fwd to finalizing the setup. ### 3/5 — Needs to offer solutions *2021-02-07* I installed this after installing Boom3D on my iMac. I tried using it and it said Boom3D was not running system wide. I still haven’t figured out how to make it do so. Their site offers a video titled How to Run Boom3D System Wide, which then only gives a sort of ad of it working thusly. But no instructions on the setting. The application would start to open and then abruptly quit. After restarting both devices, this seems to have been resolved. I sometimes still have difficulty connecting to my MacBook Air when it’s streaming music via Boom 3D. Mostly it works though. The fact that it can’t connect to a Windows PC running Boom 3D however is disappointing. It’s a platform-agnostic world now, baby! We will be happy to assist you further. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Completely unusable. *2024-10-25* I was excited to download this as Boom 3D has been awesome for years but this app is insane. It paired seamlessly but when I tried to use it to control things there was immense lag and then it locked up, locking up my computer audio as well. I would change the level on my laptop and it would jump back to where this app’s screen was frozen at. I then tried swiping up and down quickly and after a few seconds it unfroze and began to swipe wildly without me touching it, again overriding the controls on my MacBook. I quit the app to get it to stop but it persisted for a little bit and then finally it stopped but my MacBook was locked at louder than it was when I started this fiasco, even at the lowest audio setting on the computer. I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max and a MacBook Air M2. It’s controlling both the MacBook volume and the Boom 3D volume (separate controls). I can change the Equalizer settings, adjust Effects (like 3D and Fidelity) and separately control volume for apps like Spotify if playing. I love that it has a mute button! It’s working fine in the background. Not sure yet if it will use memory and/or battery when not near the MacBook or its turned off. May have to manually quit the app, will see. I’ve installed Boom 3D on my Mac through SetApp (a must have Swiss Army knife of utilities and apps for your Mac). The difference in sound quality when running Boom 3D is truly remarkable! Boom Remote for iOS gives you the super convenience of being able to remotely control the music or other audio media playing on your Mac through Boom 3D. It has a most intuitive interface making all the features so easy to access.
