BoomReader is the digital reading record used by thousands of parents as a way to log home reading. Say goodbye to lost or ruined reading diaries. Never again will your child's reading record be left on the bus, at home on the table or in the car during the busy school run. Easily Add Books and Logs You can easily add any book you or your child are reading with seamless search through the thousands of titles already added. Detailed Reading Logs Simply enter the page number you and your child read too. Of course, you can add more information including comments and any words or sounds your child struggled with. Complete Activity Feed The new activity feed allows you to scroll through or the reading events for your child including reading band changes, reviews and of course the reading logs. Depending on the settings chosen by the school, you may also be able to see when your logs have been viewed or liked by the class teacher. Complete Book History You can view, search and filter the complete history of the books your child has read. Rewarding Reading BoomReader automatically rewards children for reading by awarding Gems. Your child can swap Gems for reward cards. For younger children, you can use our one-click magic button to jump into your child's account so you can help them to spend their Gems. I’ve noticed several negative reviews, but many seem to come from people who may not be using the app correctly. All the necessary functionality is there—you can log your child’s reading and easily add new books. The support team is also very responsive and helpful if you run into any issues. Overall, it’s a much more convenient and effective alternative to traditional paper reading diaries. ### 1/5 — Awful *2024-11-17, version 2.0.15* App doesn’t carry over data from previous year and can’t create a new account because “email address is already in use” even though I deleted my account. Have to log in through the browser and add all the school details every time. ### 2/5 — Alert: Invalid parent login code *2024-09-20, version 2.0.14* Look here, when I type my email address and type 60795 or 21567, it shows me a white box with the title: Alert along with the text: Invalid parent login code with a button that says: OK. Why is this? What is the login code? Send me a message if anyone knows. ### 1/5 — Frustrating *2024-07-08, version 2.0.14* It depresses me that I have to use this app. Using tech is supposed to make life easier, but I find that I have to go through more steps vs writing it down. When the app doesn't recognise the book it is painful to have to manually enter the details as predictive text has an issue with the name of most authors. ### 2/5 — Messy but does the job *2024-03-28, version 2.0.13* Need to use it for school. The app is a mess though. If the book title is more than 20 characters long you can’t read it anymore, which is useless when you are reading a series. You can’t edit the title either. The app developers listened and brought back the completed book function. Good listening. Still not brilliant but it’s getting there. Not a great interface. Not intuitive. They have removed the “completed book feature” on reading log. ### 1/5 — Latest update not good *2024-02-25, version 2.0.12* Took away the ability to mark book as pages 1 to end, now you have to count all the pages of every book manually, as some books don’t have page numbers ### 1/5 — Really annoying to use now *2024-02-17, version 2.0.12* Why take away the tick box for when you read a whole book in one go? Pretty much all the books my son has don’t have page numbers so I have to count how many pages there are to record it properly and most of the time I just don’t bother anymore.
