## What is Boonpoint?

LIVE PUBLIC-LAND MAP
Pulls real campsite data from Recreation.gov, US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, California State Parks, and OpenStreetMap. Color-coded pins
show what's verified legal, likely legal, or unverified at a glance.

  VERIFIED TRIP JOURNAL
Anyone can claim they camped somewhere. On Boonpoint you can only log a stay if your phone confirms you actually slept there — within
200 meters. Every entry in your trip journal is a place you woke up at, not a place you drove by. Photos, fuel cost, who you were with, mini map —
export any trip as a PDF.

  COMMUNITY REVIEWS
After a verified stay you can post how a spot was — and read what other travelers reported. Got the knock and had to move on? You can still leave a review. Water, dump, and propane spots can be reviewed too. Report or block anything off.

  BLM + USFS OVERLAYS (Pro)
Amber polygons show BLM-managed land where dispersed camping is typically legal (14 days, 25-mile radius). Yellow lines show USFS motor vehicle routes —
the only legal access for dispersed camping in National Forests. Tap any area for the full rules.

  OFFLINE REGIONS (Pro)
Cell service is a lie at most dispersed sites. Download the spots in a region before you leave home — Boonpoint falls back to them automatically when
  you're off-grid.

  WEATHER + GOLDEN HOUR
NOAA National Weather Service forecast and sunrise/sunset at every spot. Plan the drive so you arrive before dark.

  DIRECTIONS HAND-OFF
One-tap to Apple Maps (CarPlay-ready), Google Maps, or Waze.

  PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No analytics SDKs. No trackers. No ad IDs. Your trip journal syncs through your own private iCloud database — even we can't see it. The one thing that's public is community reviews you choose to post, which are shared with other travelers. Sign in with Apple
is the only auth method, and only logging a verified stay needs it.

  —— Pricing ——

Free forever for 50 spot views per month. Pro unlocks unlimited spots, the BLM/USFS overlays, offline downloads, and every future Pro feature.

### 3/5 — First Pick was not dispersed

*2026-06-27*

I just downloaded this app and went to use it. Thought I would check my local area. It immediately took me to a state park and had it marked as unverified dispersed camping. I am very concerned about the veracity of these recommendations as a result I will use this for a few weeks and hope it improves. At which point I will update my review.

**Developer response:** Thanks for flagging this so specifically — you're right. State and national parks are developed, reservation-based campgrounds, not dispersed sites, and the app was wrongly defaulting every campground to 'dispersed.' I've fixed it: developed campgrounds (national parks, state parks, established Forest Service sites) now show as their own category, and only genuinely undeveloped BLM/USFS/backcountry land is labeled 'dispersed.' The fix is in the next update, which is heading into Apple's review queue now — Apple reviews every update before it goes live, so it usually takes a day or two to appear. Once it lands I'd really appreciate another look, and if anything still seems off just reply here and I'll get on it. Thanks for helping make Boonpoint more accurate.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.8 — 2026-08-20

Boonpoint 1.0.8 — the community update.

• Add missing spots. See a campsite, water source, dump station, propane stop, or overnight parking spot we don't have? Tap the + button on the map, or long-press and choose "Add a community spot here." Works offline — your spot saves on your device and uploads automatically when you have signal again. Sign in with Apple is required so spots can be moderated. Community spots always show as Unconfirmed, so you can tell them apart from official government data.

• Traveler reports. On any review, share the cell signal you got (by carrier), what you paid for the night, and the biggest rig you saw fit. Spot pages roll these up — "Verizon — 4 of 5 bars," recent price range, max reported rig length — so you know what to expect before you arrive.

• Search by name. Spot search now matches names across every layer, including community-added spots.

• RV parks. The map now shows paid RV parks alongside campgrounds and dispersed spots, so you can compare options in one place.

• Elevation. Spot pages now show elevation — handy for planning around altitude and weather.

• Full hookups tag. Spots can be tagged for full hookups (water, sewer, and electric) so you can tell a real RV stay at a glance.

• Sync reliability: a "spots waiting to sync" indicator, plus a sign-in fix for stalled syncing.

• New Help section covering how community spots work.

Every new install gets a 7-day trial window before a subscription is required — plenty of time to see if Boonpoint earns a place on your next trip.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-07-19

• Fixed National Forest (USFS) campgrounds not appearing on the map
• Official Boonpoint area info now shows a clear badge on spot pages
• Small fixes and cleanups

### 1.0.6 — 2026-07-14

Reporting now works properly. If you report a review, a photo, or a spot listing, it reaches us — previously some reports could fail to send.

Privacy Policy and Terms are now available directly in the app (Layers → Legal), along with the app version.

Corrected our description of how verified stays work: being at the spot is the proof — there is no minimum stay length.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-07-04

New:
• Smarter search — type "nearest rest stop", "camping", "dump station", or "gym" and get the closest ones sorted by distance; tap to fly there
• Route-aware: "rest stop on 80" keeps results along that highway
• Share a journal entry to the community later — stays saved privately (e.g. while signed out) can now be posted from the Trip Journal
• Photos now show right in the journal list

Field-test fixes:
• New camera button — snap photos of a spot right from the log-stay prompt
• Your review photos now save to your private trip journal
• Camera shots survive an app restart while you're writing a review
• Fixed "I'm here — report status" on gyms, water, and other resources doing nothing when tapped
• Community sharing now tells you when a post didn't go through instead of failing silently
• Fixed 'Choose from Library' doing nothing in the journal and wishlist editors
• Fixed the review prompt re-appearing at spots you'd already logged

### 1.0.4 — 2026-07-02

- Sharing is now a clear choice: every stay log has a public-share toggle, and your private trip journal stays private
- Traveler reports refresh right after you post and can include photos
- Offline regions now save water, dump, propane, gym, and shower pins too
- Gyms only mention showers when the data actually confirms them
- Map polish: tappable colored cluster pins, an always-available Reload button, and many smaller fixes
