## What is Borderline?

Don't let one miscounted trip cost you your UK ILR, US green card, or Canadian PR.

Borderline is the immigration compliance tool for people who actually travel — BN(O) holders flying home to Hong Kong, green card holders visiting family abroad, Canadian PRs crossing back and forth for work.

Other apps count days. Borderline gets the rules right.

WHY BORDERLINE IS DIFFERENT
• UK midnight rule — a day counts as "abroad" only if you're outside the UK at midnight. Most apps count calendar days and over-report.
• Crown Dependencies split — Jersey, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man count as UK for citizenship, NOT for ILR. Most apps treat them identically.
• Rolling-window traps — a trip from two years ago can still push your rolling 12-month window past 180 days today. Sum-based calculators miss this.
• Single-trip triggers — the US 180-day rebuttable presumption and 1-year automatic residence break are separate from total physical presence.

• BN(O) visa holders pursuing UK ILR — including the Feb 2026 adult dependent family route
• Green card holders working toward US naturalization (5-year or 3-year spouse path)
• Canadian PRs maintaining status or applying for citizenship

• UK ILR — 180 days max in any rolling 12-month period
• UK Citizenship — 450 days over 5 years, 90 in the final 12
• US Naturalization — 913 days present in 5 years, no trip ≥ 1 year
• Canadian Citizenship — 1,095 days present in 5 years
• Canadian PR Card — 730 days in every rolling 5-year window

BN(O) holders — this release is for you.

NEW: Chinese localization for BN(O). The visa type, stages, and related UI now display correctly in Simplified Chinese (简体中文) and Traditional Chinese (繁體中文).

NEW: Application-in-progress travel warning. Once you've submitted your ILR, N-400, or PR application, toggle it on in Settings. Borderline shows a persistent warning not to leave your home country during processing — because travel mid-application can cause it to be treated as withdrawn.

IMPROVED: Clearer guidance for visa switchers. If you moved from a Student, Skilled Worker, or other UK visa to BN(O), the onboarding hint now explicitly clarifies that only the time on BN(O) counts toward ILR.

IMPROVED: Future trips now appear correctly in the Trips view after manual entry (previously only surfaced in the Events tab).

IMPROVED: US naturalization single-trip thresholds consolidated into a clearer combined view covering the 6-month rebuttable presumption and 1-year automatic break.
