## What is Boris?

Boris is the local guide built for military families navigating a PCS to the Kaiserslautern Military Community in Germany.

Whether you are incoming, getting settled, or preparing to move out, Boris organizes what you need to know by where you are in your PCS. It is written for an OCONUS move to Germany, not generic relocation advice.

WRITTEN FOR YOUR STATUS
Active duty, GS civilians, contractors, and NAF employees do not always get the same answers in Germany. Boris asks once, then shows the version that applies to you, including the parts of SOFA status that change what you are supposed to do.

WHAT BORIS COVERS
- Step-by-step PCS checklists tailored to your status
- Budget tracker for first-weeks costs, private, on your phone
- Meal and receipt log for TQSA/TLA reimbursement
- Your entitlements explained in plain language for your status
- German cancellation letter templates (Kündigung) that use your PCS orders as the legal basis
- Playbooks on the rules that catch families out, including the USAREUR driver's license path
- German public holidays and office hours, so you know before you drive over
- Local map with key installations, offices, and services
- KMC directory of on- and off-base resources, personally vetted
- Emergency contacts: German and on-base numbers, one tap to call
- Upcoming community events and MWR activities
- Key appointments and important dates
- Local dining, housing, and services worth knowing about
- Home screen widget with your countdown and next tasks, checkable without opening the app

BUILT FOR THE KMC
Boris is designed specifically for Ramstein AB, Vogelweh, Kleber Kaserne, Landstuhl, and the surrounding Kaiserslautern area. The information is local, not generic military advice written for every base at once.

PRIVACY FIRST

### 5/5 — Most Helpful App for PCSing!!

*2026-07-30*

This app has been a game changer in our move here to Germany! Not only does it give you a comprehensive guide to all the PCSing processes it is user friendly and gives you easy to follow check lists! It also has been a great resource to for finding places to eat, stay and visit around the KMC area. It’s not easy being in another country trying to set up a new home base, but Boris was with us every step of the way and made it feel manageable!!

**Developer response:** Thank you, this made my week.

“Manageable” is the exact word I was hoping for when I started building this, so reading it back from someone actually in the middle of a move means a lot. Welcome to the KMC, and good luck with the rest of the setup.

### 5/5 — Incredible Resource

*2026-07-20*

This app is such an incredible resource for people PCSing in and out of Germany. I also love the ‘Settled’ version, which provides valuable information and guidance for people living in the area. Looking for something fun to do? Looking for a new restaurant to try? Looking for information on how to recycle? This app has that and so much more! Enjoy!

**Developer response:** Thank you!, this means a lot. Glad Settled’s been useful. Let us know if anything’s ever missing.

### 5/5 — Settle in

*2026-07-17*

This is a great app for anyone PCSing into the KMC as it helps organize all the tasks you need to do. Once here, it provides lots of helpful info for day to day living.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the kind words, and welcome to the KMC! Really glad Boris is helping you get organized and settled in. If you ever spot something missing or out of date as you spend more time here, let us know — always working to make it more useful.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4.7 — 2026-08-11

We went back through the checklist and fixed what was wrong

Some of it was about money. Post Allowance and overseas COLA are not taxable, and the app said they were. If you planned around those numbers, plan again.

Passport waits were listed at up to 12 weeks. They are 4 to 6 weeks, or 2 to 3 expedited. And most contractors do not qualify for the no-fee official passport, which we had wrong in the other direction.

DEERS and ID cards are not handled at RAPCON. It is the RAPIDS ID Cards Office, Bldg 2106 Room 117, and it is closed Wednesday mornings.

EFMP screening does not block your orders. If a family member does not clear, what gets denied is their command-sponsored travel, and you still have options.

We also fixed locations showing up for the wrong service branch, and map pins that would not open.

Same Boris underneath: no account, no email, no ads. Just the local know-how you actually use.

### 1.4.6 — 2026-08-05

One listing per business, every location on the map

A dealership or clinic with more than one address used to show up as separate entries. Now it is one listing, with each location pinned and its own hours and phone number.

We also fixed a wrong answer. GS civilians are not shut out of JAG legal assistance — the app said they were, and that is not true. If you read that and stopped asking, go ask.

The onboarding photos were redrawn, too.

### 1.4.5 — 2026-07-26

A fresher Local tab

We reworked the Local tab so the good stuff is easy to find. Money tips, nearby places worth the drive, what's happening around the KMC, and step-by-step playbooks are now front and center, each one a tap away.

### 1.4.4 — 2026-07-24

Kinney-Pasion — your Meal & Receipt Log for TQSA/TLA

Temporary quarters mean weeks of meals to track for your TQSA or TLA reimbursement — and a lost receipt is money gone. Kinney-Pasion keeps the record for you:

• Log each meal in seconds — time, place, and amount
• Snap a receipt photo (or add one from your library) and view it anytime
• Export a Finance-ready CSV and share your receipts when it's time to file

It all stays on your phone. No account, no tracking, nothing uploaded — same as the rest of Boris.

Also in this update: reliability and clarity improvements across your checklist, onboarding, and settings.

### 1.4.3 — 2026-07-19
