Map works sometimes but not other times. New version was a step back in performance. ### 1/5 — New version useless *2022-09-18, version 6.4.0* What have you done to this app?? When you look at reports now on the map, it shows everything “open” from the last 11+ years and there is no way to filter it. I have reported the same car for illegal parking out front and it has sat there all day long 8+ hours until the person left on their own. You can’t see all the open and closed reports on the map at the same time anymore. The app is confusing to use and should be reverted back to how it was. I guess they want us to call instead 😫 ### 1/5 — New Mayor app gets worse *2022-04-04, version 3.20.13* When Mayor Walsh was there all 311 calls were answered by with a decent response. Since the new Mayor came in most 311 calls are ignored. Especially in certain neighborhoods. ### 2/5 — No bikes? *2021-09-19, version 3.20.13* App is slow to load. There is no way to report or request any cyclists/ bike lane/ bike infrastructure issue through the app. It’s like cyclists have been excluded. How do you report blocked bike lanes, bike rack requests, bike lane safety improvements, etc to the city of Boston? There seem to be a lot of categories missing from this app that you would think should be there. ### 2/5 — No ads of 311 in black areas of Boston *2021-06-02, version 3.20.13* The app works when I report what needs to be fixed but I am disappointed in City Hall not putting up ads for the people of Boston to know about these app. Only reason I know or heard of this app was because I worked at city hall and knew devs that worked on but we Need more ads around town especially in the inner city like Mattapan, Dorchester and Roxbury so the people can report potholes, outages & etc. It’s crazy I’m remember seeing a ad in Brighton or Allston but not in the black communities where I have traveled. We need more awareness of this app so things can get fixed ### 4/5 — Quick service multiple times *2021-01-15, version 3.20.13* Some things take awhile from the city, but other things have gone very smoothly. The issue I just submitted - my Christmas tree not being picked up by recycling - was resolved within an hour. Impressive! Sure, some things requested take awhile, but multiple requests I’ve put in have been handled in what I feel is a timely manner. It’s either the app doesn’t do its job or “someone” not doing their job. It’s likely the latter. I’m complaining about an app that the city created to hold people accountable but don’t hold themselves accountable. What’s the point of having an app if reports go unanswered for months? Currently I have two open reports, same vehicle, three weeks apart. I received a courteous call explaining when and why my case was closed. ### 5/5 — 311 enhances Boston’s quality of life *2023-04-29, version 6.4.4* This old Bostonian is delighted with the convenience of the 311 app. I’m grateful to the folks in the Menino and Walsh administrations who centralized the reporting process and then automated it! And I’m confident that the Wu administration will continue to improve it. As others have noted, the app’s ultimate effectiveness depends on the responsiveness of the various departments. Issues are usually addressed promptly. Easy to navigate report options and call in. A lot of people use this App to report absolute nonsense and it is absolutely hilarious especially when BTD or etc responds there was no violation or a vehicle is in compliance. Unfortunately, passive aggressive neighbors seem to take great joy in dropping the dime over the slightest infractions. This results in a waste of time, but entertainment for voyeurs like myself.
