## What is BotBook?

BotBook is a journaling app for adult teams that want a verifiable record of who did what and when: college clubs, hobbyist groups, professional collaborations, robotics teams. Capture moments as they happen with text, photos, voice notes, and live transcription, and BotBook stamps each entry with the server-side time so the record holds up under review.

  KEY FEATURES

  • Photos, audio, and text in one entry. Take a quick photo of the work, hold the mic to dictate, and the transcript is right there alongside the audio file.
  • Server-side timestamps. The entry's "when" is set by BotBook's servers in UTC, not your phone, so the timeline can't be back-dated.
  • 24-hour edit window. Authors can fix typos and re-attach media for a day; after that, entries lock and anyone can comment but not rewrite.
  • Team roles. Team admins, mentors, journalees, and parents each see a view scoped to what they should be able to do. Admins can promote, demote, or remove members and invite new people via Gmail.
  • Live transcription. iOS Speech framework runs on-device by default; voice notes upload alongside the transcript.
  • Audit log. Every create / edit / delete / member change writes an append-only audit row with IP, device, and timestamp, so the team can prove provenance long after the fact.
  • Built for both phone and iPad. NavigationSplitView sidebar on iPad, hamburger on iPhone, identical features.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.4.0 — 2026-07-09

• Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email your group leader sets up. No invite required.
• A cleaner journal: entries group by day, new posts arrive live, and every edit is preserved with a tap-to-view history.
• Search a group by text, author, tag, or date, and filter the timeline to one person or topic.
• Richer conversations: reply threads, @mentions, and reactions on comments as well as entries.
• Photo captions and automatic link previews.
• Verify entries in a batch, browse the full audit log, and export a signed PDF of a group's journal with an integrity hash, built for parents, sponsors, and judges.
• A home-screen streak widget, share-any-entry-as-an-image, and quick actions.
• A top-to-bottom visual refresh across every screen.
• Signed-in users can delete their account from the account menu under Security > Delete account

### 1.3.0 — 2026-07-02

BotBook is now open to everyone. Sign in with your Apple ID, Google account, or an email and password from your group leader; no invite needed. Group leaders still add you to groups by email. Also in this release: a fresher look across the app with softer cards and cleaner buttons, a fixed members list that no longer squishes names on smaller phones, comments on busy entries load faster in pages, more reliable "Load more entries", and notification taps now land exactly where they should.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-05-28

No release notes.
