### 5/5 — Great app! - feature request

*2025-09-21, version 2.8.1*

Hi there, I’ve been enjoying this but spammers have a new tactic in my inbox. They send sms messages with no text to filter. They just send a gif or photo with the information in it. Could you add a feature to filter out photos, gifs, and videos from unknown numbers? Thank you!!

### 5/5 — Just what I needed

*2025-08-22, version 2.8.1*

Added a few patterns and now most spam political texts are going to Junk! I only wish the filter would work on Mac as well but that’s not the fault of this app, which is great

### 2/5 — Rules stopped working

*2025-08-18, version 2.8.1*

Be warned. I was pleased with application of my rules at first, and then (maybe it was a couple weeks) the junk messages resumed, completely against the rules I had and that had been working. The rules were still all there. Had to email the developer. No response.

### 2/5 — Doesn’t do anything anymore

*2025-07-16, version 2.8.1*

Hasn’t worked in months

### 3/5 — Good but….

*2025-07-08, version 2.8.1*

But, if you google bouncer you will see the app costs 2.99. It does not show up in App Store as a subscription but now I’m being charged monthly.

### 5/5 — This actually works!

*2025-06-15, version 2.8.1*

I was skeptical about ever being able to block political messages, but I just looked in my Junk folder and there are 25 messages that were blocked! Thank you so much!!!

### 5/5 — does it’s job well

*2025-05-30, version 2.8.1*

fairly straight forward to use and does it job well; however, once you have a complicated regex it becomes cumbersome to manage, and then you’ll probably resort to just adding one by one. Especially useful during elections.

### 2/5 — You still have to delete one at a time from junk folder

*2025-05-18*

It does a really good job using keyword text to Move unwanted messages to the junk folder. But, you still cannot bulk delete your junk folder. You have to delete them one at a time unless you choose to configure messages in all folders to automatically delete simultaneously. This sort of defeats the purpose of the app if you still have to delete them manually one at a time. I can do that from the inbox without paying for the tool.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review. Most of the people never deletes messages from Junk or use “Select all > Delete”

Unfortunately Apple does not allow deleting messages programatically.

### 5/5 — Love it! Saving my sanity from Political Texts!

*2025-04-25, version 2.8.1*

Get control of the incessant spam with this app!

### 5/5 — Works As Advertised!

*2025-04-09, version 2.8.0*

Downloaded back in June 2024. As of April 2025, Bouncer has blocked over 200 political and spam texts sent to my phone! Highly recommended and extremely easy to use!

### 5/5 — No more spam texts!

*2025-03-09, version 2.6.0*

Wish I had this before the election. My only feedback is the developer should include easy how to instructions for those of us who are tech challenged.

### 5/5 — Simply amazing!

*2025-03-08*

This app works just as advertised and nothing less! The design is super simple and I could easily export a wordlist, look at what the format is, and then whip up a quick script to generate a custom one for myself.

One suggestion to developers: allow for duplication of rules and also create a simple guide online on how the formatting for the wordlist works. Maybe even a quick page that lets you copy a wordlist and turn it into the right format. Thanks team!

**Developer response:** Thank you for the review and suggestion! Will soon add some docs about filter list formatting.

### 1/5 — Does not work anymore with iOS 26.

*2025-11-11, version 2.8.1*

I was loving this app, but after the iOS 26 release it no longer works.

If it begins working again it is a 5 star app.

### 1/5 — Promising But Inconsistent

*2025-10-21, version 2.8.1*

I *LOVE* the concept, but in the past month or so, the rules selectively work or not at all. For example, I have a regex rule that moves any contact name starting with +63 into Junk. I have another that does the same for messages containing “coinbase” … when a message arrived that fit both rules, neither rule works. The message still arrives in my unreads.

### 1/5 — Unfortunately, with iOS 26 release this app no longer works

*2025-09-17*

Update:
Following the release of iOS 26 this app no longer works. In addition, to add insult to injury with the update, All text messages that Bouncer identifies wind up in a “promotions“ folder, and you are unable to block these numbers, only delete them. You can block any numbers, not identified by Bouncer.

### 1/5 — Don’t work

*2025-09-09, version 2.8.1*

I still get spam texts with the exact same words I told Bouncer to block.

### 1/5 — Gyp

*2025-06-27, version 2.8.1*

I feel like the money I paid for this app is nothing less than fraud theft I went as the directions said, I found places or given no hint or clue where I could put words in into filter. I’m getting now even more. Messages there seems to be no help available as well.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-05-30, version 2.8.1*

I put in specific phrase to be filtered. I got a spam text with that exact phrase. Useless

### 1/5 — Don’t buy!

*2025-04-02, version 2.7.0*

Awful!!!!!
This is junk and a waste of money and time.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2025-03-21, version 2.6.0*

Does not work with iOS 18.3. Can’t get past the setup screen.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2025-02-11, version 2.6.0*

Installed the app, set messages to use the app, but it is stuck on welcome screen. Could not do anything with the app. Asked for help in forum and no response. Uninstalled.

### 1/5 — Rohn W

*2025-02-07, version 2.6.0*

So far it has not blocked any texts from sites sending warnings about iPhone being corrupted even though I have put specific wording in filter like AppleCare, virus, Trojan Horse, etc.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The most effective sms/imessage blocker

*2026-08-05*

This has been the single most effect blocker app.

I JUST found out today that iPhone limits how many blocked senders you can have?!?! So the scammers win in the end by just switching numbers enough times… unless they go up against me with Bouncer. I have used the app for years now that was free and allows me to block any text based on keywords or email and number. I had beaten the performance of every paid subscription app I have tested. Even if this app costs a flat rate now, it is still most likely worth the price. The keyword blocking, or specific phrases, is the secret recipe. It allows me to block all those scams and political ads begging for money.

Please don’t make this app a subscription. It works as-is. Unlike Hiya that within the last year fails to open and run now on current iOS on 16 pro max

**Developer response:** 😍😍😍

### 5/5 — Works amazing

*2026-03-28, version 2.9.0*

If you’re having spam issues via text. This is the solution.

### 5/5 — Working great on iOS 26.3.1a

*2026-03-22*

I was using Junkman for the past 6 months or so, but then the developer crippled the free version of the app and started charging outrageous monthly fees (he wanted $125 for a lifetime fee!). Then I found the Bouncer app for a reasonable one-time fee of $2.99, so I figured I’d give it a try. So far it’s done an awesome job sending trash messages rights to my spam folder on my iPhone 17 Pro Max running iOS 26.3.1. It’s super easy to create powerful rules to eliminate annoying political and promotional messages. Hats off to the developer…thank you.

### 5/5 — A tool I recommend to ALL my friends!

*2026-03-14, version 2.9.0*

It’s been a great app, and lots is blocked out… Lots of items from scams to annoyances. A great fan of the blocking-by-keyword feature.

### 5/5 — So Helpful!

*2026-02-23, version 2.9.0*

Bouncer has been so helpful in reducing the amount of political spam and solicitations I had been receiving. Before Bouncer I was losing usefulness of text messages generally due to the volume of spam I had been receiving. It provides a great defense for text spam!

### 5/5 — Saved me from changing my phone number

*2026-02-13, version 2.9.0*

Great app. Now all the political texts go to spam. You have to set up key works or phrases and it’s very easy to keep adding as needed. Really appreciate this app. A big thank you to the developer.

### 5/5 — Working again with iOS 26

*2026-01-04, version 2.9.0*

Thanks to the developer for keeping the app updated.

### 5/5 — Great response with help!!

*2025-12-09, version 2.9.0*

Initial set up has no set up guide. What to do??
Got back with Help via email quickly!
Once you figure out the app, it is easy. So far, very happy with the performance.

### 5/5 — Does not work if you sync to a Mac

*2025-11-01, version 2.8.1*

On new iOS does not work

### 5/5 — Good app

*2025-10-17*

The app really blocked junk messages. After about two or three weeks, Junk messages just stopped altogether, it’s like they know I have a bouncer, they haven’t sent anymore. You can set as many words as you want.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback. Glad is working for you!
