## What is Box Walks?

Box Walks turns Britain's iconic, red telephone boxes into destination points on nature-themed walks, which unlock interactive content. Visit each phone box to learn about an environmental theme, play games and compete with other members on the Box Walks app. Our walks are currently available in the Borough of Richmond Upon Thames. 

Explore the map

Open the Box Walks map to see every phone box near you. Tap the pin to learn about the phone box’s theme or browse the curated walks that link each phone box into walking routes you can follow at your own pace. 

Collect phone box and walk tokens

The Box Walks app will record when you visit a phone box and complete a walk. It will do this automatically. You will also have the option to scan the QR code or NFC tag in the phone box to unlock the phone box’s content manually.  Each box has a theme with interactive content, such as videos, podcasts, quizzes and places to visit.

Environmental action
Join a community taking steps to reduce your borough’s environmental footprint collectively. You will be able to earn a point for each activity you complete, and as you complete more activities earn badges as well. There are four badges for you to earn: bronze, silver and gold.


Walk offline

Heading somewhere with patchy signal? Download walks ahead of time. Lite mode keeps the words and routes, and full mode downloads the media as well.

Built for everyone
A clean, calm interface with full dark mode, designed to stay out of the way so you can focus on the walk. Sign in with email, Apple or Google, or use anonymously.
