But my order is a week late. It’s not about the supply chain either. Everything I ordered was already available. And I understand it’s December. But they could have easily told me the right WHEN. Instead they made the decision to mislead me about how quickly I would get my order, take my money, and then make me wait an extra week for the food. So I gave them 3 stars because they always answered my questions. But I won’t order from them again because they didn’t let me know up front how long I would have to wait. ### 4/5 — Delivery *2021-08-11, version 3.0.9* I just received my Aug 5, 2021, box. I am disappointed the driver threw the box down on my stone walk at my door. Every can item in my order was dented on the edges and will created a problem when opening. This isn’t the first time that’s happened. Why can’t the driver just ‘put’ it down and Not drop it from his shoulder, or waist, or wherever he has it? It’ll add one min or less to the delivery and would help ‘old’ people like my retired self. I shop because of being able to get my items delivered. It’s becoming more and more difficult to justify the convenience when my items arrive like I went to a salvage place to buy them. I also have found myself not recommending your site because of this issue. I used to tell everyone about it, long before Covid19. ### 4/5 — Great App *2020-12-05, version 3.0.3* So, I’ve ordered a handful of times off boxed and had a great experience. The app is super user friendly, shipping is super fast, and their customer service is great. They send hand packed notes and samples in with your order. It’s truly a great service for those without wholesale club memberships. However, if you have a wholesale membership, always compare pricing! Boxed is $3-4 higher on bulk snacks I’ve come to notice, and even with free shipping, it adds up if you’re purchasing a lot. Even with coupons and sales, boxed comes out higher on my end. Just a note for the budgeters on here. ### 4/5 — Love boxed products *2020-11-26, version 3.0.2* I really enjoy receiving products from boxed. However, as a visually impaired customer, the app is not accessible to me. When I try to enter my email address and password on the app using my iPhone, I’m not able to do that successfully. If you all don’t mind in the future update, will you fix this problem? I would enjoy using the app once it’s been made accessible to me. I can only use the website to purchase my products. Love the picture you send when packing the item before closing. Sad: Cold packing items shipping fee such as chocolates are not a best business practices within your competitors. $2.99 is expensive. I have to reconsider ordering chocolate moving forward. Variety of items are improving but still not enough for typical main brands which most household goods are. (Just saw my pasta is no longer available). Recently found the usual item I buy (Huggies wipes) cheaper at Target online and had to buy from them. I think you should shop more often to see how much each item in competitors. Appreciated the special offers and coupons. I don’t buy if no coupon, as being low mid income household. ### 5/5 — Exceptional Customer Service *2019-07-14, version 2.8.1* I recently purchased Polar seltzer in cans and when I received the shipment several cans had exploded and others were damaged. I contacted customer service and received a response in 5 minutes!!! Notifying me they were sending a new case. I have been purchasing from Boxed for over a year and was very happy they could provide a product that was not available to me locally but now I will be singing their praises from the rooftops. ### 5/5 — I’ve neglected *2019-05-22, version 2.7.8* I’ve neglected to write a review as often as I should have but y’all need to know & understand what a truly great company BOXED is! My favorite thing about it is their selection (that grows often) & their prices! And nobody can beat the way they box my items for delivery. One time I remember thinking that they packed my items like they’re sending it to their own mother! I can’t recommend every item but I can recommend most of the items. You won’t be disappointed dealing with BOXED. I just can’t say enough good things about them! ### 5/5 — Game Changer *2019-04-16, version 2.7.4* So I have read all the reviews and ordered a couple of times from here. I have to say I’m not disappointed. I didn’t want to pay the 50 dollars a year at first, but for the priority shipping of 2-3 days; I couldn’t beat it. The regular BJs or Cosco membership doesn’t give you cash rewards on future purchases. And while they are literally right around the corner from my house, I only go there when I am completely out of stuff and don’t have to work or have the kids (so like hardly ever). BOXED allows me to do my shopping without the hassle of lugging the kids around or buying unwanted stuff. I also save more money when I pair it with the Ibotta app. All around great app. ### 5/5 — I just love boxed *2019-04-16, version 2.7.4* They always ship very fast. They package their products well and they are extremely good about taking your package and updating you on it's status. Not to mention all their products are fantastic quality that's for a price that doesn't make you feel ripped off or so low that you'd worry about quality. And to top it off you get to choose 2 free random items out of what they have available to try every time you shop with Boxed. I absolutely CANNOT speak highly enough about boxed and I'm receiving my 4th delivery from them tomorrow. Super excited, love Boxed! Keep up the great work, guys!!! ### 3/5 — Great product, needs more thoughtful packaging *2019-04-11, version 2.7.4* Love the idea of being able to buy in bulk from the comfort of my home. But I am also trying to focus on lower waste. My box came with lots of plastic airbags that I do not think were anywhere close to necessary since nothing I ordered was fragile. Also, my dish detergent, which comes in a plastic container, was wrapped in its own plastic bag for some reason. I really don’t see the point of that. Otherwise, great service. Will order again if I can get assurances that the next box won’t contain so much unnecessary packaging. ### 5/5 — Boxed is a time saver *2019-03-28, version 2.7.3* So happy that I’ve stumbled upon this app. The service is amazing and the prices are good. I’ve been testing out the store brand items which are great quality. I don’t have time to get to the bulk stores in person with my husband. So discovering this and the fact that it’s delivered to your door couldn’t be better. Shipping is fast too. I recommend it to everyone. I wish that the app would let you review the items you’ve purchased. I’d like to see what people say about some things before I buy them. Other than that the app is fantastic. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Tried to order but acct got suspended *2022-08-20, version 3.1.8* I placed my very first order yesterday and within 30 minutes after successfully completing (and paying) for my items I received an email that my order had been cancelled. The email did not include an explanation as to why the order was cancelled, but gave me the option to contact Support. I reached out to their Support team via email and they responded to me that my account had been suspended, and to reach out to their Risk department for more help. I don’t feel the need to waste my time in going back and forth with a company I’ve never even ordered from about why they decided to randomly suspend my account. If this is how you treat prospective customers good luck hanging onto them. ### 1/5 — Great Store. Terrible App. *2022-07-14, version 3.1.8* Boxed is a good store. We live what is an 80 mile round trip from reasonably priced shopping. So online shopping is great especially given today’s energy prices. BUT. This App is pretty much worthless on an iPad Pro. I had seven items in my Cart from the website. Downloaded the app, signed in, and it couldn’t locate my Cart. Had to return to the website to place my order. Had an issue today with my order, (FedEx apparently kicked our M&Ms from point a to point b). And the “Contact Us” feature was not only a little tricky to find, it sucked. I’d type my name, then when I went to input my order#, it Dumped me back to the Boxed Home Screen. Like three times. I gave up and went to their site on Safari to deal with it. Terrible App. ### 1/5 — Not cheaper than places like target *2021-07-21, version 3.0.9* I figured I’d check this out because it advertises bulk items for the lowest prices. I figured my frequent buys would be better bought in bulk for cheaper. But it’s not. My body wash only came in a 2-pack, the same 2-pack they sell at target for the exact same price. Then I checked my shampoo and, again, same 2-pack as target but for MORE than it’s at target. They don’t really have a ton of healthy options and the few healthy snacks I do like, once again, more expensive than other locations I shop at. Same with toilet paper and paper towels— same or more expensive than target. I was really disappointed at the prices. ### 1/5 — Beware of Deceitful Prices *2021-05-15, version 3.0.9* The prices on their products may seem to be sold at a cheaper price because they sell their items in bulk. Just divide the total price of the product by how many of the items are in the bundle and you’ll get how much each individual product costs. You can then compare the price of the individual item to the same product being sold at Target or Walmart. The price is usually equal to or more expensive than the same items being sold at your local supermarket. The add in the Boxed membership fee and you’re actually spending more with them. ### 1/5 — After downloading, app not constructed according to accessibility guidelines. Appeared to be blank. *2020-07-13, version 2.9.93* During this time of COVID, when it is difficult for many people to obtain groceries and supplies, I am finding the process extremely complicated. In this small Ohio town, I am not receiving people based help. I am totally blind. I am having to order online or do without. In hopes that I could order from this app, I downloaded it. Many apps do not follow universal design protocols, although guidelines exist and cookbooks for doing so are available. This means that someone who is blind, such as myself, will have almost no chance of using the services of such an app. I am using a voiceover screen reader on an iPhone. This accessibility feature is standard for all Apple phones. The app for Boxed did not register at all. It downloaded and opened, but the screens appeared blank. This means that I cannot order, cannot pay a yearly fee, cannot select goods, cannot participate in the use of this app or its benefits in any way. This represents substandard web design protocol based on W3C guidelines. Apparently, Apple is no longer screening its apps for accessibility. ### 1/5 — Needs better customer service, was wonderful now it’s not *2020-04-08, version 2.9.8* I downloaded the app years ago and never ordered until the beginning of 2020. I live rural with only 1 warehouse type store within a reasonable driving distance. We recently purchased a camp in an even more rural location and needed duplicates of many items (soaps, paper products, cleaners, drinks, food, etc). I was having a hard time finding the brands we buy in the quantity we needed and at affordable price. At first I loved the service, even with the covid delays but my last few orders have been super super slow shipping and one piece of tape across the top barely attached. ### 1/5 — No samples, no note & fed ex threw my box on porch *2018-02-03, version 2.4.6* I’m flabbergasted that everyone loves this so much and besides having it delivered to your door I don’t understand the value of this. I guess if you only have Costco around you’d be impressed but not even comparable pricing. BEWARE I got my first order with no samples (which are listed on invoice)...then I email asking for them because I was really excited to try new stuff and instead of saying oops let’s send those...they offer a 5$ credit off my next order. Why on earth would I give you a second chance to do this to me? Then I read that everyone gets a nice note... SURPRISE no note. I guess my order was not important to them. I guess from their response my future business isn’t important either. Take a second thought and make sure you are getting a deal so if you’re screwed over you at least got your moneys worth. ### 2/5 — App is fine, service has gotten terrible *2021-07-02, version 3.0.9* Boxed used to be excellent, with great customer service. But the last few deliveries have been packed in such a way that items were crushed and ruined. It’s both carelessness in the warehouse and by the carrier (UPS). Their apology was a $5 credit for a box of vegetable stock that broke open and leaked into everything. It’s also really difficult to get anyone on the phone to assist. I’m not sure if they are short staffed, or just not treating their employees right, but something is way off. I used to recommend them to everyone, but not anymore. Definitely getting a Costco account because this headache is not worth it. ### 3/5 — It’s ok most of the time *2022-09-05, version 3.1.9* I give this 3 stars because it’s just ok. The convenience and quantities are worth it some of the time. However, in recent months the app isn’t working properly. It keeps saying Oops bad request. Sometimes while adding items to cart, sometimes while trying to check out. I’ve gone several days before being able to complete my purchase and even giving up altogether and just going to the grocery store. In the few years that I’ve been using Boxed, several times items come damaged. Tons of leaked items, items opened or dented. At first, finding a way to contact them through the app was not user friendly but after a couple of times of that happening I figured it out. Prices have increased, items aren’t available or go out of stock, items ship from a third party and take weeks to arrive with no communication….so having said all that. Three stars is all they get. I went from ordering very often for our large family to maybe once every couple of months now. ### 3/5 — Shipment issue *2022-02-07, version 3.1.3* Well if you would fix shipment isues. I would be greatful. Handy dandy place to buy bulk items. Sometimes these items are not less than what i can buy at my local Kroger or Target BUT most of the time Boxed DOES beat their prices! The convenience to buy bulk online from an ethical company is awesome and not have to DRIVE and waste gas going to a Costco or Sams or BJs. Over the years Boxed has added many new products. I especially LOVE Prince and Spring quality products which are a Boxed brand and cost less! I had to struggle with a flat bed cart, transfer bulky items several times, wait in long lines, and deal with the weather. When I heard of Boxed I decided to compare prices on the items I buy at the club store. Boxed prices were lower on almost every item. I love that my Boxed order arrives quickly.
