It's similar to Tetris but much better IMO, plus gorgeous color & graphics. Turning the pieces is a bit awkward but you will get used to it. I like the relaxed mode 'cause no clock and I get higher scores (8760 on my first try, nearly ran out my battery). Well worth the $$ for high replay factor. I've been a BoXiKoN fan since it's release and was worried about how it would control on my iPhone. I can say without hesitation that they NAILED IT for this version. The controls felt a bit off at first but after a game or 3 it became completely natural. Great job! As far as I'm concerned, this is a MUST BUY for anyone with an iPhone/iPod Touch. Well worth the money. I would've easily paid more for it and not felt bad at all, but I do think this is the perfect price point. ### 5/5 — I really like this puzzle! *2009-07-21* Visually BoXiKoN is simply perfect. Nice colors, textures, interface, animations and effects. It also has good sound effects. It does not have background music, it allows iPOD music but mutes the sounds. The gameplay is very simple. You place the tetris alike tiles that you can see at bottom on the board. If you make a line (like in tetris) you score and the line is removed. You can create a 3x3 (or more) blocks of the same color to transform those blocks into jewels. Removing lines with jewels assure you bonus points. As you can see you have 5 slots at bottom. If the next tiles comes up an there's no room for it the game is over. You have some seconds before the next tile is added (try Relaxed Mode if you want a stressless game). One of the greatest things about the interface is that the tiles at bottom are always rotating. Most of the time you can pick up a tile in the right position to place. If you change your mind you can use a second finger to rotate the tile. You can't flip it though. In addition, when you select a tile it is automatically shift up so your finger doesn't get in the way. In resume, the controls are perfect. The game has 3 timed modes (easy, medium and hard) along with a Relaxed one (timeless). It can properly resume and loading times are short. Good! There's an unified local high score for all modes. There's an online board too but you have to leave the game to see it. It's very detailed but the approach is limited considering e.g. OpenFeint. That's a casual and very polished puzzle. I really like this one! 4/5+ ### 5/5 — Easy but complex, fun & addictive! *2009-07-19* I've been a huge fan of Boxikon for years & the ipod touch version is great. Its really easy to learn, but difficult to master since there are multiple strategies to get higher scores. There are fun little surprises, such as a variety of special pieces & effects so the game doesn't get motonous. The backgrounds sometimes blend too much with the piece colors, but at least they don't move. ### 3/5 — A visual disaster *2009-12-21* The game itself is fun and I really enjoy the strategy involved. Unfortunately, the backgrounds prevent me from playing. The changing backgrounds is a major problem. I love the fact that the background will change, but the choice in patterns is horrible. Some backgrounds blend too much with the pieces themselves and it's rare that I see a pattern that actually looks aesthetically pleasing. Most are just too overdone combined with all the other patterns on the screen. ### 3/5 — Nice! *2009-12-14* Very nice game with some nice new twists not in the original pc version. If it weren't for getting sore eyes from all the bright colors and distracting, wild patterns I would use this game alot. Maybe the developer will eventually do an upgrade with "tamer" colors and pattern options for those of us with sensitive eyes? Even though I won't be able to play it much I am still giving the game a solid four stars because he did do a fine job with it, especially for teens and young adults, and for the folks with less visual sensitivity than older folks like me. Good job, Paul! This game is really fun and very well put together. One thing I want to mention is that certain background patterns make it difficult to see the pieces on the board. I don't normally have trouble with colors. But this affected my concentration a little bit. ### 4/5 — ハマりますよ！ *2009-07-29* ズーキーパー系のゲームも楽しいですが、お気に入りの常駐アプリも揃ったので楽しそうなパズルを探していたところ、このゲームと出会いました。基本はテトリスのように隙間なく、縦か横に並べて消していく。画面下のＢＯＸに５個までピースをＨＯＬＤ出来て、それでも手詰まりならばゲームオーバーです。３Ｘ３マス以上同色に並べば回転し、それを消せば高得点になります。ＢＧＭにｉPｏｄの曲を流せて効果音や画面の演出は満足なので、ゲームミュージックもプラスされれば最高です。この先もっと評価されて良いゲームだと思います。 ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Addictive near perfection *2012-06-19* Excellent graphics, fun gameplay, every bit as addictive as Tetris. The only request I would have would be to have separate high-score modes for Easy/Norm/Hard/Relaxed modes. I shouldn't have to try to beat my Relaxed high score in Hard mode. Otherwise, I find myself playing the SNOT out of this game. Excellently done. Update: Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in! Definitely glad to see this game get updated graphics. Good update. Wish Paul would put back the little numbers when the blocks clear just to get a sense of the points I'm scoring (minor nit). Still wishing the high scores would designate which mode you were in (hard, easy, relaxed,etc) so I can see how I did in the various modes. Great mechanics. This and DropZap2 can get me through any line at the DMV. Well done. ### 5/5 — One of the coolest Amiga/PC/Mac puzzlers makes it to the iPhone! *2012-06-19* UPDATE: Stoked to see my favorite of the Shoecake games get revisited! Paul Burkey took Tetris' basic "line clearing" gameplay mechnic and spun it on it's head! Pieces aren't falling from the top but going into boxes below so you can decide which piece to place first. It is no longer about just making horizonatal lines as you can make vertical lines across the game play area as well. Coolest yet, IMHO, is that the pieces get nastier and nastier in later levels (right when free space is at a premium you'll start seein more 5+ block pieces). I even love how if you group enough same colored pieces in a clump they become gem pieces worth big points when cleared! My only whine is that I hope in updates Paul will put back in the bonus for clearing a line all of one color like he had in the computer versions. ### 5/5 — Fun puzzler *2010-06-27* This is a very fun puzzler with simple rules that still give a deep game that you find you improve at with practice - never just random.
