For over 50 years Bradt Guides have been publishing high-quality travel information about the planet’s most extraordinary places. Now our thoroughly researched travel books are available as interactive digital guides on your mobile device – giving you detailed background information, site recommendations and live mapping. 



We are the world’s largest independently owned guidebook publisher, covering over 200 destinations from Albania to Zimbabwe. Our ethos has remained unchanged since Hilary Bradt and her husband, George, wrote the earliest Bradt Guide on a river barge on the Amazon – the first-ever tourist guide to the Inca Trail! We cover destinations often overlooked by other travel publishers, and our guides are known for being more comprehensive than any other series. No templates, no tick lists – and absolutely no AI! Each Bradt digital guide is a one-of-a-kind expression of an expert author’s interests, knowledge and enthusiasm for telling it like it really is.

Hilary quickly gained a reputation for being a true travel pioneer, and in the 1980s she started to publish guides by other writers to places overlooked by other travel publishers. The Bradt Guides list became a roll call of guidebook ‘firsts’.
