### 4/5 — Actual Trivia Questions makes me think

*2021-01-20, version 1.22*

Hey, can’t complain. This app has everything you would want out of a trivia game including actual trivia questions. (How many people know that there is such a thing?) So, yes i am very happy with this app. “Why the 4 stars then jerk?” I’m really not trying to be a jerk. It is that there are a few things that I could do without. The Font (though fun) can get a little hard on the eyes after awhile. I might suggest that only the question and answers be in a more traditional font like San Sheriffs (see what I did there) and even though I’m trying my stand-up comic skills in this review. In the app I feel that it could benefit from a little less comedy. The slapstick comedy is fun and deserves its place within the app but it doesn’t has to be everywhere. Well that’s it. See that wasn’t to jerky of me. Just a little constructive criticism. On the bright side the dev will probably get my very last dollar as soon as i get my unemployment check. All so that I can unlock those extra, great , actual trivia questions.

### 4/5 — Funny but

*2021-01-03, version 1.22*

Honestly, in 2020, I’d be scared to make this game. Right off the bat, the first question you are asked is “would you like to be male, female, or monster?”. I can only IMAGINE how SJWs would try to insinuate that.

Some of the jokes and explanations also seem to be a little crude. I am literally all for it. I love this stuff, but really do fear many have lost the way to be able to appreciate awesome humour like this. So don’t be fooled if this game is a little heavy on negative reviews. It really is fun, interesting, and honestly quite challenging.

Definitely more suited for adults.

### 4/5 — Fun

*2020-11-20, version 1.22*

This is a good trivia game. As well as the variety of questions, Trivia Guy’s comments are funny. The humor adds an extra layer of fu, that makes the game more than just about trivia.
Please add more questions, though, as I’m seeing some repeats.

### 5/5 — Addictive

*2020-10-25, version 1.21*

This is more fun than Trivia Crack!! I love the option of not having to buy anything and it’s not the same ole questions over and over again. And you can play at your own speed or against the timer or against a friend. Worth it!

### 5/5 — Hard but fun!

*2020-08-31, version 1.21*

It is a super fun game to play when you are bored or you want to quiz yourself 🤩but there are a lot of adds😑

### 5/5 — 5 stars

*2020-08-09, version 1.21*

love it!

### 5/5 — I <3 Trivia Guy

*2020-07-30, version 1.21*

I’m somewhat new to this app but I am enjoying the experience. The witty, humorous comments of Trivia Guy combined with great questions provide a unique quiz game format.
I upgraded to premium for two reasons: I like to support independent developers and the price was very reasonable.

### 5/5 — Quiz

*2020-07-19, version 1.21*

Witty and fun. This app makes me smile. Bought premium mode the first time I played and don’t regret it :)

### 5/5 — Awesome game

*2020-05-17, version 1.21*

This game is super fun and quirky, I can play this for hours if I wanted to! Seriously, this game is the best! The trivia questions aren’t too hard, but they aren’t easy! Download this and see for yourself!

### 4/5 — Great!

*2020-05-01, version 1.21*

It’s really fun and all but I think there should be some easy ones for kids. :) that’s all ! Great game

### 4/5 — Great Trivia!

*2020-04-30, version 1.21*

I think it is amazing and I really like how you make trivia guy make jokes and stuff. Although I think it could be improved by making it that you could see how many questions in total you answered wrong or right and show your total score from all quizzes played. Also a leaderboard would also be nice. But overall I love this game and been doing a lot of trivia.

### 5/5 — Love this trivia game!

*2020-04-23, version 1.21*

More challenging than other trivia games! Lots of fun!

### 5/5 — good

*2020-04-21, version 1.21*

it’s good lol

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doing this for fun

*2020-04-23, version 1.21*

Doing this for fun, but this trivia guy is takes the questions a little to seriously. The game takes the fun out of it. I don’t care for it.

### 1/5 — Too much pop culture.

*2019-12-14, version 1.21*

More than half the questions are pop culture. I hate pop culture, I get it’s a trivia category but this app is over half that one category. No thanks.

### 1/5 — Bad

*2019-05-14, version 1.21*

Not funny, too much reading, way too obscure trivia, and way too few questions. I won’t be redownloading this app.

### 2/5 — Repetitive

*2020-09-15, version 1.21*

This is a cute game for maybe an hour, but then the quizzes start repeating over and over. There are very few actual quiz questions and that isn’t much fun for a trivia game. Very glad I didn’t pay for the ad-free version before finding this out.

### 2/5 — Some answers are wrong and there is no way to flag incorrect answers.

*2020-05-20, version 1.21*

I was asked “what country is Luis Fonsi from?” And two of the options were USA and Puerto Rico. I figured he was Puerto Rican but that isn’t a country... USA is. But Puerto Rico was the “correct answer”. Look it up yourself, the guy is from Puerto Rico but his nationality is “American”

### 2/5 — Coins system is bad

*2017-09-07, version 1.0.2*

Should earn coins at a daily rate not by watching video

### 3/5 — Fun but starts repeating itself

*2022-12-09, version 2.03*

I like the trivia questions and the fact that the game is playable without spending money. Unfortunately, when you get farther into the game, you get repeated questions, which aren’t as fun. I was addicted at first but now I’m glad I didn’t spend the $2 for ad free.

### 3/5 — Fun

*2020-04-25, version 1.21*

I get it you have to have ads to pay for the app but you have to watch an add before every single game you play? Come on. I would have given it 5 stars if you even went an add every other game.

### 4/5 — Categories

*2023-02-02, version 2.03*

I would like to be able to choose Categories

### 4/5 — Update is good, but missing original charm.

*2022-03-30, version 1.32*

This is the 3rd “look” and update since I’ve played Trivia Guy. On one hand, this is both good and as well as a step backward. Questions, humor, and overall charm of the game are intact and are part of the fun. The weird scaling zoom up of the “trivia guy” himself is….weird. Almost thought it was bug how he animated into place every question. I vastly prefer the older versions of the app for the presentation. The questions and explanation of the answer also animate in slowly - maybe to help with pacing, but it all feels like it slows down the game immensely.
One great thing about this new version is that the points earned summary is now included in the explanation of the answer screen. This I think was how it was in the original version I played a few years ago. (My favorite presentation) I am glad that this is no longer a second confirmation button/screen before proceeding with the question, but I still prefer how the entire answer and explanation were on the screen as soon as the screen changed - for fast readers, even the ability to tap to skip the animation ahead would be nice.
No matter what, I find the scaling up and down of the mascot extremely out of place - it would be less so if he did something, but something about the lack of animation (within the art itself) is unsettling.
One thing I had hoped would return with a new update would be the category quizzes. I liked to play the 10 question round but by being able to choose what types I would receive, such as history, movies, music, etc. It seems only that you can take 10 questions from random categories, without any customization to the quiz possible now. It seemed like the older version I first played was the best to me overall - it was great with pacing, display, and snappiness of the quiz itself ( I did like the size of the UI in this version a lot, but I prefer the older colors - the large amount of yellow seems to feel off for some reason now, but the text is extremely readable and appropriately sized.) but the artwork of the character didn’t command attention with pointless animation, and you could play only the type of quiz you’d like for the moment. I do wish this would return.

I’d also like to see more music - it is the one thing that hasn’t changed, and while nice, it gets old quickly. A few more tracks that change sometimes while playing would be nice, tho I’m sure many may play on silent or with other music playing from their phone. The sound effects are nice too, and provide nice feedback - it’s more effective than the animation of the thumbs up or down I feel that plays now.

I feel like this is a huge complaint but I do really like this game, but the creator seems to take a step sideways with these updates. I’m sure there are reasons for it, but I feel like they are reducing the charm a little each time while not introducing new benefits. I wish I could install even the previous version, but the original version I played is still my favorite.
However, the reason I play Trivia Guy overall, and will continue to do so, is the charm of the writing and how the questions are produced. They always feel humorous and well written, and I enjoy the way they work the player’s name into, as if Trivia Guy is actually asking you them right there. If a new update comes in that could address some of these issues, or at least allow some customization to speed up the transition/ “type writer effect” of the text on the explanation screen (where you confirm to go to next question), disable the animation of the Guy each time, etc, I would love that. I like this game a lot - it’s the only trivia game I’d bother writing a review of at all, and one that pains me to even be critical of. I loved that first version I played and if iPhone allowed it, I would go back to that version for all its features and UI/feeling. But the actual trivia itself is still top notch.
I know the developer cares about this game, but I think a little more love to these pretension elements could help it even more, but right now it feels like too much is going on with it and I would welcome seeing it pared back a bit. But that doesn’t mean I will stop playing, and doesn’t mean folks should pass this game up - it’s still extremely witty and that alone makes up for hiccups in the UI, which could be a matter of taste to many that do not feel the way I do.

### 5/5 — Great game!

*2022-01-30, version 1.31*

This is, by far, one of the better Quiz games currently available. Questions are varied and not too difficult. Ads are proportional to the content. Most of all, it’s a real giggle to play. Nicely done ❤️

### 5/5 — Great quiz

*2022-01-29, version 1.31*

I really like this quiz. I came upon it quite by chance, but I really like it. The questions on Quiz Planet are too easy , but these are much more challenging. Keep up the great work.
