### 3/5 — It’s just music.

*2026-08-28, version 3.5.56*

I see nothing special about this app. It sounds just like every other lo-fi or easy listening or “focus music” on Spotify or YouTube easy to find.

### 3/5 — Helpful but app needs refinement

*2026-08-17, version 3.5.56*

The two things that keep me at a 3-star review are:
Not being able to exclude all tracks with a specific meta data tag. I’ve discovered songs with “textural soundscape” tag are like nails on a chalkboard to me. There should be a way for me to exclude these tagged songs “categorically” instead of one by one.
Requiring a $70 subscription. I understand there was research put in and effort to develop the app. It’s right at my tipping point for signing up in the first place. What’s kept me here are the nights I can’t sleep. I put on deep sleep and I’m out cold.

I do find the music used in the app to be genuinely helpful. If you need help focusing on work, or have trouble sleeping, this has helped me with both of these.

### 2/5 — Not helpful

*2026-08-15, version 3.5.56*

I am not sure where the apparent research on the usefulness of this app comes from, but I found the music to be way more distracting than helpful while I study. I have ADHD, and did include this in my profile, and this was just disappointing.

### 4/5 — It delivers

*2026-08-03, version 3.5.56*

The app delivers, but it can get a bit wonky with audio stability, especially at the highest neural effect level—you'll notice some turbulent buffeting and fluctuating pressure that makes the playback feel wobbly. Another thing: the app sometimes just stops and makes the song disappear from the iOS player and forces you to restart it from within the app.

### 5/5 — It really works!

*2026-08-03, version 3.5.56*

I work in a noisy office, and this app avails me an oasis of serenity.

### 5/5 — I have ADHD. Worth every penny

*2026-08-01, version 3.5.55*

This app is kind of expensive, but I found it is extremely effective. I noticed when I play one of the motivation pieces, I get really sharp and focused right away. And then I can stay there in the zone for a long, long time. It’s the next best thing to hyper focus I haven’t tried the music for insomnia or anxiety yet. However, I did find the relax and wind down music quite good after a long day of focus on work.

### 5/5 — Subscription

*2026-07-25*

Not able to select option and pay for subscription kindly look into it.

**Developer response:** Thanks for flagging this! We'd love to help you get set up. Could you email us at support@brain.fm with your device type and a screenshot of what you're seeing? Our team will take a closer look and get you up and running!

### 5/5 — Pure Gold!

*2026-07-24, version 3.5.55*

I started using Brain.fm during graduate school, and I credit it with helping me endure long study sessions while maintaining absolute focus. Now I use it whenever I want to zone out while reading or writing. It’s also very helpful for deep sleep or taking a daytime nap. I truly love this app and highly recommend you try it.

### 5/5 — Life changing

*2026-07-24, version 3.5.55*

I think this app is the reason I havent been fired 😅

### 5/5 — Best investment

*2026-07-22, version 3.5.55*

I’ve tried many apps in the past but this one is a true gold . I’ve been finishing Masters degree while working and having childcare. This app allows you to focus like never before and amazing at de-stressing and unwinding .
Worth every penny !

### 5/5 — Worth it

*2026-07-22, version 3.5.55*

Epic app. Well done. Noticeably helps me focus, relax, chill, and fall asleep.

### 5/5 — My brain needs Brain.fm daily to focus

*2026-07-22, version 3.5.55*

If you have a neurodivergent brain, this app is a lifesaver!

For work, I listen to "Deep Focus" on my desktop computer every single day when I have to lock in and accomplish my tasks. In total silence, my brain goes off on tangents, but when I use brain.FM, it occupies the "wandering" or distracted part of my brain with non-lyric, interesting, non-repetitive looping jams so I can actually get things done.

For household tasks, or if I'm having trouble getting moving in the mornings, I use the "Motivation" music, and for whatever reason, it gets my toes tapping and helps me tidy, declutter, and finish chores with no struggling.

When I'm anxious or getting ready for a presentation or event, I listen to "Destress" while I'm preparing to calm my nerves.

At night, I listen to "Wind Down" or "Deep Sleep" to relax before bed.

Right now I'm on an 86-week streak of using this app in so many settings of my life, and I truly couldn't function without it. I recommend it to everyone I know who has ADHD or focus issues – it's exactly what I need to get things done!

### 2/5 — Crazy expensive

*2026-07-22, version 3.5.55*

I enjoyed the app and will be willing to work to pay a small premium for it, but they are completely out of their skull thinking that they can charge $100 for this!

### 5/5 — Worth the cost

*2026-07-20, version 3.5.55*

I depend on it to get me to sleep quickly every evening. It's worth whatever I pay for it. I figure I am saving the money I spent on melatonin gummies.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Spam mail

*2026-08-17, version 3.5.56*

I didn’t agree to a free trial of the app and deleted it before getting to explore options. Now I’m constantly hit with spam mail from Brain.com that won’t honor any unsubscribe requests.

### 1/5 — Ridiculously priced

*2026-08-10, version 3.5.56*

Expensive and playing on people’s suffering to sell their wares. A created focus can be made for free on other streaming sites and you can pay to bin the adverts. They however don’t put a bow on it to say it helps you focus!

### 1/5 — Crashes on launch

*2026-08-10, version 3.5.56*

Can’t use this app I paid for, as crashes the moment I open it. Still waiting for a fix and been waiting at least a year to use the app

### 1/5 — 99$ and what??

*2026-08-04, version 3.5.56*

I have paid 99$ for one year. And NOTHING. Your app still proposing to me to buy subscription again 😡

### 1/5 — No trial without subscription

*2026-08-03, version 3.5.56*

This app does not allow you to try it out without subscribing. Many people prefer not to subscribe before testing it first. Consider offering a one- or two-day trial period before requiring a commitment, especially since sometimes we might forget to cancel if we don’t find the service useful.

### 1/5 — Purchase

*2026-07-27, version 3.5.55*

What was the point of making the app free

### 1/5 — Subscription

*2026-07-14, version 3.5.55*

Nightmare to end subscription

### 1/5 — This isn’t for everyone

*2026-07-06, version 3.5.54*

I wanted so badly for this to help me with my ADHD. I was especially hopeful about the motivation sounds to try to help me get out of those moments of task paralysis. I tried “Motivation”, “Deep Work”, “Creativity”, “Light Work” - they all heightened my anxiety. The only one I tried that seemed bearable was “Learning”. So, if your ADHD comes with significant anxiety, this may not be for you.

### 1/5 — Took my money!

*2026-06-25, version 3.5.54*

I had a free subscription (3 days) which I have email proof was cancelled, then over a month later I get a charged for £74.88. Don’t even have the app downloaded, attempted to contact them but no response.

### 1/5 — Beware

*2026-06-11, version 3.5.54*

If you get your free trial online like through Facebook not the app
There is no way to cancel and you are charged.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Changing lives

*2026-08-25, version 3.5.56*

This app has been a God send! At first I was hesitant to continue to pay for the app but with anything in life, it takes time to see the fruit of your labor. So if you are looking for an app that will help you focus, this is the app for you.

### 5/5 — My essentials.

*2026-08-23, version 3.5.56*

My entire life, I’ve seen to struggle with deep focus on specific tasks. This app has been a great tool in sharpening my focus and setting timelines for tasks!

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-08-21, version 3.5.56*

This app definitely helps me maintain focus.

It honestly might just be a placebo (I know there’s “science” behind it but idk), but regardless it works well for me. It always has; I used to look for those YouTube videos with various frequencies.

The app itself is well designed and I use it frequently for both productivity and sleep. Try the free trial at the very least to see.

### 5/5 — Best sounds

*2026-08-18, version 3.5.56*

Better than Spotify because it actually does something in your life

### 5/5 — Optimal performance

*2026-08-17, version 3.5.56*

Absolutely necessary for fundamental efficiency thank you

### 5/5 — A Game Changer for Studying

*2026-08-17, version 3.5.56*

I honestly didn’t expect Brain.fm to make such a big difference for me. I usually study at night, and I would often find myself falling asleep while reading or studying. Since I started using Brain.fm, that hasn’t been an issue anymore.

I don’t know exactly how the science behind it works, but somehow it really helps me stay focused and engage. As a musician, I also really appreciate the music the music selection and how thoughtfully the sounds are designed.

For me, it has become one of those tools I didn’t know I needed it until I try it. Definitely worth giving it a shot if you struggle with focus or staying awake while studying!

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2026-08-13, version 3.5.56*

I use this every night to fall asleep and I’m during the day when I want to lock in.

### 5/5 — This app is awesome !

*2026-08-09, version 3.5.56*

The UI is absolutely gorgeous—huge shoutout to the devs, you really outdid yourselves! And the focus music/audio? I’m left completely speechless. It works so well.

### 5/5 — Wonderful to match the task

*2026-08-09, version 3.5.56*

When I want background music (with no lyrics) that will enhance the atmosphere of what I’m doing, from focused work to light tasks to a gathering of friends. This goes beyond mere binaural beats to actually provide real music developed by both scientists and artists

### 5/5 — School and chill

*2026-08-07, version 3.5.56*

Been a great app helping motivate and ground me through nursing school. Thanks!
