## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Horrible UI & App - Ruins incredibly expensive speaker

*2026-05-07*

Wish I could summarize how awful, poorly integrated, and ridiculous to use this app is. It makes set up onerous and the customization features worthless. For a $500 speaker it’s absurd. I’m returning the speaker and going with something that’s actually out of Beta. Ouch.

### 1/5 — Great sound, terrible connectivity

*2025-12-20*

I’ve had mine for over a year and the WiFi:Bluetooth connectivity has declined, from already being poor. Times out when communicating between app and phone, all audio drops in the middle of a song, but shows still playing in the media player, within the app itself the speaker can’t perform any settings updates or “manual” firmware checks without completely breaking down.

Speaker is fantastic, but these software glitches make it virtually unusable.

### 1/5 — Can’t connect Via WiFi

*2025-10-15*

Title of this review pretty much sums it up. Really was hoping to use the EQ as I’ve heard you can really wake the speaker up that way. Too bad I can’t even use the App.

### 1/5 — Awful app

*2024-09-10*

App will still not save your speaker after setup. When you re-open the app the speaker is gone. And the speaker's audio still cannot be controlled over the device's volume control. Every cheap device can do it, just not this $600 speaker for some reason.

Really regret getting this speaker and app.

### 1/5 — Does not connect

*2024-04-19*

The app will not connect to your wifi so it's useless. I only managed to change my speakers name.

### 1/5 — Poor app; don’t recommend speaker + app

*2024-03-05*

The app is basically useless. Why? Because the Brane Speaker paired with it disappears constantly after pairing. You have to keep pairing it over and over every time you want to do any change to the speaker (like EQ changes).

I cannot control speaker volume drone my device (not via Bluetooth, not via Apple Play), which any basic portable speaker supports. For some reason the $600 Brand speaker does not. I was hoping to be able to adjust volume via their app, but the speaker keeps dropping out of the app.

I’ve been in touch with Brand 3 months ago and they acknowledged the connectivity/pairing issues, but they simply aren’t fixing it.

### 2/5 — Speaker is AMAZING - app is not.

*2024-09-23*

The app is functional. Although not without significant friction. I’ve had numerous issues with connectivity, especially AirPlay and it requiring a password to even connect to the speaker (??). There’s no way to set a password for the speaker, so you must restart it - then it’ll connect to the app and AirPlay lol.

Sound options are rather lackluster for a speaker with so much oomph. Bass options specifically need some love as it’s near impossible to reduce the bass past a minimum level (technical limitation?) for instances when you just want to chill and not have it vibrating through the whole building. The closest I can get is going into the EQ and setting the bass to 0, which is still actually 20%.

Updating is frustrating having the pops with “Ignored command during update” pop up at literally every stage of the update process. That whole menu is a mess.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the speaker. I even had concerns about the AUX pass through having insane latency and they managed to address that in a firmware update. You’re doing great work but please make this app a more enjoyable and feature-filled experience!

### 2/5 — Great sound, terrible software

*2024-05-04*

The system sounds great. Software/application on the other hand needs a lot of work.

CONS
- Needs firmware for the system to wake up for AirPlay or Spotify connect.
- Speakers needs to weaken up for the application to connect to the speaker when on standby for a long time.
- The settings sometimes changes when you haven’t been connected to speakers.

PROS
- Sounds great
- Good battery life
- Water resistant
- I do love the industrial design

### 2/5 — Needs a firmware update BAD!

*2024-04-17*

The system itself is very good, but the unit needs a firmware update really bad regarding AirPlay issues. The system disconnects, and you have to restart the unit which takes a little time for the Audio unit to show up in the AirPlay list again. For $600, tax, plus shipping; I would like them to fix the issue asap. I understand it’s a new company, but for the price tag, they should’ve figured out most of the kinks.

### 3/5 — If the app gets half as good as the speaker 🤯

*2024-03-14*

Speaker is next level. App works but needs possibly more EQ controls and just more features in general. Brane Engineers make us some festival worthy subs and Offload the app work to the experts in the field and let’s experience some bass that moves heaven and earth.

## Most praised reviews (5 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Change EQ Please

*2026-05-01*

Please let us EQ up to +6db instead of +5. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Speaker Sounds Great

*2025-12-03*

The App works perfectly with speaker, and is awesome how you are able to control bass.

### 5/5 — Solid app for an “out of this world” speaker

*2025-05-08*

The app is essential functions, not really polished but has worked well for me and does everything you need it to do. No connection issues with bluetooth or Airplay. Would really like to be able to change the wake word for Alexa but it’s a common limitation for non-Amazon Alexa devices I think.

### 5/5 — Excellent App

*2025-01-08*

I find the app the be excellent. I use WiFi to connect and stream to the speaker which works great! It took me a bit of eq adjusting to find that sound that I like but I found it. Always remember that “sometimes” the problems people have are local to the device they are using and not the app. And yes you can rename the speaker through the app.

### 3/5 — Pretty Buggy

*2024-02-07*

App struggles connecting to the speaker. 1 it seems to only work on wifi and 2 it struggles when you’re on the same wifi but also using bluetooth. I’m not confident the FW update feature is functional, I keep getting this, “Command Not Accepted. Ignored During Update.” pop up…
