## What is Brazil Refuge?

Brazil Refuge explains how to request refugee status (refúgio) in Brazil and helps you prepare.

WHAT IS INSIDE
• Guide: who may qualify, the legal grounds of Law 9.474/1997, the difference between refúgio and political asylum.
• Documents: protocol, DPRNM and CRNM — what each one means and when it is issued.
• Stages: from the first consultation to the Federal Police, the CONARE interview and the decision.
• Your rights while the case is pending: work (CTPS Digital), CPF and bank account, SUS healthcare, school for children.
• Personal checklist: mark the materials you have, add private notes and share the list.
• Deadlines calculator: annual protocol renewal, 15-day appeal after a denial, 90-day limit for trips abroad.
• Questions and answers, with links to the laws and official gov.br pages.
• Available in 57 languages.
