### 5/5 — Great way to stay up-to-date on the latest stories

*2023-08-15, version 1.0.3*

BTW does an amazing job distilling the latest news into a digestible format, but also makes it easy to take a deeper dive on stories that interest me most!

### 5/5 — AI curated and balanced news!

*2023-08-14, version 1.0.3*

I love BTW!

This is a fantastic tool to get AI-curated news that’s balanced, and relevant.

The user interface is brilliant.

The notifications are helpful and customizable.

The nightly “bot-tom” line daily news wrap up solved a problem that I didn’t know I had.

Get this app!

### 5/5 — It will change your life!

*2023-08-13*

Life-changing for someone who was pretty happy and set in their way.
I used to be someone who always used multiple apps to stay up-to-speed on the news and current events but since BTW came into my life it has quickly become my single go-to source— and here’s a couple of reasons why:
- it QUICKLY gives me a clear sense of what’s trending at all times if I just want a quickly glance update
- I can browse across an infinite number of sources for any given news and get so many different perspectives about a topic with NO EFFORT!
- it’s SMART! Clearly it’s not serving me random pieces of news, like other apps I tried in the past, but rather an objectively ranked list of news so I feel like I really understand this news space better
-BONUS: so fun to use!

### 5/5 — Game Changer

*2023-08-02*

I quickly catch up with the news in just a few minutes now. Enjoyable and easy to use.

### 5/5 — Genius way to consume world events

*2023-07-23*

I’ve always struggled with sifting through top stories and staying informed, and BTW has helped me immensely. I feel in the know, and it’s bite sized readings make it very digestible. Also their design is super unique with tasteful swipes that make it much easier to read through!

### 5/5 — The perfect news app for people who hate news

*2023-07-17*

I typically hate reading the news. It's depressing, there's so much to sort through, and I never know which outlets and platforms are reliable or unbiased. So I actively avoid it, even though I want to stay up to date with what's going on around the world. That's where BTW comes in. I've been using BTW for a few months now, since it's beta form, and it is the ONLY news app you need. Not only does it rank the most-talked-about topics for you (perfect for trending conversations and news flashes), it allows you to browse different outlets (both local and international) to give multiple viewpoints on each topic. And I love how simple it is - it literally only takes a few minutes of my day to get updated, which to me, is the best way to get informed these days without being overwhelmed. 11/10 would recommend for anybody.

### 5/5 — The whole story

*2023-07-16*

After using BTW, it can be frustrating to watch/read regular media and realise they are missing half the story. Too much cherry-picking from individual sources on the important topics. BTW is the only way I can quickly get all perspectives at once and dive deeper when something bites.

### 5/5 — This thing is awesome

*2023-07-14, version 1.0.2*

I hate the news. Boring, never could get into it. Somehow I know everything that’s going on now and it doesn’t feel like any work. Very cool.

### 5/5 — One stop for the day’s top stories

*2023-07-14*

With byte-sized overviews of the day’s top stories and an attractive and intuitive interface, Break the Web is a one-stop app to digest and understand the essential political and pop culture news of each day. Whether for moments where you don’t have time to read a bunch of articles, or for stories that don’t appear in the “top 3” or “top 5” format popular across other news websites, this app perfectly fills those gaps: it covers the top 20 stories, without partisan bias, succinctly enough that you can glean understanding in just a couple of minutes. I also love the vertical swipe use, the color scheme, and that it links to external sources for in-depth coverage if desired. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — I love this App

*2023-07-11*

I’m a news addict —i’m actually listening to Playbook podcast now— and I’m writing this review because it’s awesome. It not only gives a nice scan over the main news you need to know, but also less obvious pieces of information that would usually go under the radar. I also really dig the visuals and the minimalism of the design. :)

### 5/5 — Big love for BTW

*2023-07-10, version 1.0.2*

So thankful for this app that makes navigating the news seamless and enjoyable. Especially love the ability to see different viewpoints on each topic. The app is sleek and intuitive. I love starting my day with BTW!

### 5/5 — Hidden gem!

*2023-07-10*

I chanced upon a truly remarkable iPhone application that has revolutionized my way of staying informed and engaged with the world. This app keeps me in sync with the top trending topics that have captured everyone's attention. With its seamless user experience and extensive coverage, it has become an indispensable tool for remaining connected.

One of the standout qualities of this app lies in its ability to highlight the hottest and most talked-about subjects of the moment. By presenting the top trending topics, it keeps me up-to-date with the latest buzz and ongoing discussions across the globe. It is an excellent means of staying connected and participating in the broader global dialogue.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not loading

*2026-03-16, version 2.0.10*

Break the Web has stopped loading lately this app needs to be updated

### 1/5 — Misleading

*2025-10-01*

I have used this app for about a year. I really liked it but it slowly started leaning more and more LEFT as time went on. The “main stories” that are supposed to be in the middle, have gone far left. I even fact checked 25 stories and ChatGPT confirmed they all leaned 70% left in average. Quite disappointed. Someone must have influenced them ($), because the app was not like this before. Always be careful what you consume! Even established apps like this will promise you one thing, but deceive you.

Thanks

**Developer response:** So glad to hear BTW has been useful for you this past year! Our source selection hasn’t changed; we continue to aim for a balanced mix of perspectives at all times. Sometimes one side naturally has more to say on a story, but that’s just the ebb and flow of the news. Rest assured, we’re not “influenced” in any way, and we hope this gives you confidence to keep enjoying the app!

### 1/5 — Refresh much?

*2025-06-24, version 2.0.6*

Top 10 stories seem to never change. There is no such thing as a 24 hour news cycle in which the top 10 headlines are static, frozen in time. This app is another example of a good idea that was poorly executed.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2025-04-06, version 2.0.6*

Horrible UI and no settings to make it look normal. Deleted immediately.

### 1/5 — Many inaccuracies

*2024-12-20, version 2.0.3*

App consistently has wrong information. Today it states that Nathan Mahoney was the CEO of United Health Care (he is not). The AI images often have the wrong race for professional athletes. The all AI powered news with no fact checking is dreadful.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2024-09-10, version 1.0.5*

Title says it all. At least have humans edit the AI generated summaries.

### 2/5 — Sound concept, but a long long way to go

*2024-07-06*

The idea of an ai powered news aggregator is neat, but man does this thing have a long way to go to be something that gains mass adoption and real usability.

Right now there is no way to categorize anything much less tell the app what you’re interested in, so you get whatever it is they’re serving. And unfortunately what they’re serving is political and pop culture news from all over the globe, which makes 99% of it completely useless.

### 3/5 — Good app but AI issues.

*2024-06-07, version 1.0.4*

I like the app, however the AI needs more training in story artwork. The background art sometimes doesn’t sync with the news article.

### 5/5 — 🐝🛡️

*2025-12-06, version 2.0.9*

Gary Bee brought me here. 🫐🍷🍯

### 5/5 — Such a great news app!

*2024-11-23*

Love the design and function. I love that you can see what both the left and right are saying about particular news headlines too. I'm not a fan of news apps and this is the only one I've used that I enjoy opening everyday. Makes for great conversation with other people too when I want to talk about the news. I think people are sleeping on this app and I'm glad to be able to use it before it gets super popular!

## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app!!

*2024-11-16, version 2.0.3*

Love the concept and I think once some of the kinks are worked out it’ll be unstoppable.

### 5/5 — Great website

*2024-09-29*

I really like this website I like the improvements also. How interesting with the ai gathered info. I like the articles that have been used to gather info and I like the categories. I am interested in the slices to come. I noticed that when I touch the second word in the front page. title that sometimes it goes to the next or previous story. Keep up the great work!

### 5/5 — Choose your source

*2024-09-11, version 1.0.5*

Pick the source and or compare the differences in how news is reported among the various outlets. Very impressive technology!!

### 5/5 — I have given up on social media platforms and replaced them with real world.

*2024-09-08, version 1.0.5*

At last a real use for information technology and a perfect cerebral replacement for any social media platform.
I used to use social media to try to get accurate and immediate news.
Social media failed to be be the best, fastest and openly equitable news source instead it became a tasteless rumour machine pushed into a fake twisted and petty propaganda campaign machine for which I have no use.

I do have a lot of time for this clear and straightforward answer to sharing honest and open news.

Looking forward to slices!

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2024-06-25, version 1.0.4*

Excellent way to leverage AI technology, great interface and love the ability to see the full articles on the side. Great replacement for mindless social media scrolling.

Can’t wait for the slices so I can quickly catch up on specific topics! Keep up the good work.

### 5/5 — The best news and trends app

*2024-06-18*

I love how you can see right and left prospective, and sources are clearly listed to learn more.
Love how simple the design is no distractions only news. Would love more features focusing on trends by industry for example the industry you work in, but also keeping the design simple

### 5/5 — Simple yet useful

*2024-05-28*

Simple yet useful app for figuring out what’s currently trending. Seems like it’d be pretty useful to those working on marketing, social media, journalism , etc. I personally just check it when I’m out with friends as a conversation starter.

### 5/5 — New Way To Consume News

*2024-03-21*

Not a huge fan of consuming news on social because I get caught doom scrolling. Break the web lets me stay up to date and out of my personal echo chamber.

Highly recommend checking it out!
