## What is BreakAway?

BreakAway-HQ is the platform for youth hockey clubs that develops the player, not just the paperwork. Coaches plan and analyze training, parents follow along and handle registration, and athletes see their own progress — all in one app that keeps working when the rink has no signal.

MEASURE REAL PROGRESS
• Shooting Lab: record a shooting session with your phone's camera and get shot speed and accuracy, timed from the sound of each release and impact. No calibration needed to start.
• Video analysis: upload skating or shooting footage and get a biomechanical breakdown — stride mechanics, timing, and the drills to fix what it finds. Footage is analyzed, then deleted; only the report is kept.
• Training plans and routines: session logs and analysis feed a personalized plan, coaches assign repeatable homework with weekly targets, and every athlete builds a performance profile across Stride Power, Agility, Tank, and Core & Edge.

RUN THE SEASON
• Registration and dues: installment schedules, waivers, and payment tracking for the whole roster, with checkout handled securely by Stripe.
• Schedule, club calendar, and live scoring: practices, games, and tournaments with RSVPs, a color-coded club-wide calendar, live game stats, and referee sign-off.
• Calendar subscription: a private feed your phone's calendar checks on its own — pick the athletes, teams, and event types you want.
• Messaging and announcements: team chat, coach–parent threads, parent-to-parent messages from the team roster, and club-wide broadcasts.
• Staff and coaches: head coach, assistant, team manager, and general staff roles, coach bios, a shareable access link for new coaches, and an activity log for club directors.
• Live streams: broadcast a game from the bench and share a watch link with family anywhere.

BUILT FOR RINK LIFE
• Works offline: log sessions, score games, and RSVP with no signal — everything syncs when you're back in coverage.
• Your club's colors: the app carries your club's branding, and the sign-in screen remembers your club's logo.
• Ice Time: find drop-in skates, stick-and-puck, and public sessions at nearby rinks.
• Gear Swap: pass outgrown equipment along inside a moderated, anonymized marketplace.
• BreakAway Run and Side Quests: a hockey mini-game, daily trivia, a word game, and micro-challenges — and the real training your coach logs earns points to spend in the game.

A PLATFORM FAMILIES CAN TRUST
• Athletes join through a private link from their family or club — no public profiles, no public directory, no ads, and no third-party tracking.
• Contact stays inside the team, shared clinics, and mutually accepted friends, with reporting and blocking built into every shared surface.
• Full account and data deletion available in the app and at weusebreakaway.com/delete-account.

Coaches, parents, and club administrators sign in with an account. Whether you run an entire association or coach a single athlete, BreakAway-HQ is free to start — no club required.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.8 — 2026-09-26

• A new parent Home: ask "What's next?" or "What is my kid working on?" and get the answer
• Parents: redesigned Schedule, Teams, player Summary, Chats and More
• Coaches: a redesigned app — what needs you, what's next, which players need a decision
• Schedule by day; it tells you when something didn't load or save
• Families are told when a practice or game moves or is canceled
• Messages sent offline are no longer sent twice

### 1.7 — 2026-09-15

The whole app has a bottom bar now. Parents get Home, Schedule,
Chats, Teams and More; coaches and club admins get their own. Home
answers what needs you, what happens next, and where you need to be
— and "Needs You" takes an RSVP in one tap. Screens you've already
opened come back instantly instead of reloading.

An athlete now reads as Summary, Plan and Log — what it means first,
the detail a tap away.

Club admins: Financials rebuilt. The screen leads with what needs
doing and says whose job it is. Refunds land in the books, declined
cards are recorded with a way for families to fix them, and money is
counted in the season it moved. Seeing money is now its own
permission. People, Requirements, Waivers, Schedule, Tryouts,
Clinics and Tournaments all rebuilt too.

Coaches: draw a play on the Tactics Board and watch it run. Session
logs now say what they're based on, and attendance pre-fills from
RSVPs.

Clinics can carry early-bird pricing that switches over on its own.

BreakAway-HQ RUN got a full overhaul — a behind-the-back rush, a
first-person breakaway finish, and milestone skills games.

Fixed on iPhone: the app no longer zooms in and stays zoomed after
you tap a text field. Also fixed: layout spacing at the top and
bottom of every screen, and the account email no longer gets cut off
under the tab bar.

Accessibility: every icon-only button now says what it does out loud.
