### 5/5 — Incredible!

*2024-11-21, version 94*

Really good App for Indoor Cycling, criminally underrated!
Also customer service is super quick & helpful.

### 5/5 — Great for spinning bike

*2024-11-19, version 94*

I use it with a spinning bike to automatically change the resistance in workouts. Works great and great customer support

### 5/5 — As good as Zwift…

*2024-10-10, version 93*

…if you’re like me and watch movies while exercising. This is your inexpensive replacement for Zwift. I upload my own workouts to intervals.icu and then sync them on Breakaway. I can’t believe this app isn’t more popular.

### 5/5 — Wonderful app

*2024-05-03*

This app is simple to use and does everything I want for my home training sessions. I’m a big fan of intervals.icu and the way this app integrates with that platform is superb. I wish there were more developers who see a key need and build something that does exactly what is needed without too many unnecessary features.

### 5/5 — Ottima

*2024-04-29, version 91*

Per me è l’ideale! Consigliatissima

### 5/5 — Great app for technical training.

*2024-04-21, version 90*

Great effective app without the hassle of virtual riding software. Hellish start to my first ride but simply needed to enable power matching.

Paired with Strava and rides uploaded ok. Occasionally one fails but able to upload manually from IoS files, would be nice to trigger Strava upload /export from history (& not just via iOS email).

In summary… a few setup choices needed but nothing overly complicated, works well with a great choice of training workouts.

### 5/5 — Top!

*2024-01-12, version 87*

### 5/5 — Great App and does exactly what I needed.

*2023-12-11, version 84*

I use this App to control my smart trainer and it works really great! The preloaded workouts are good and you can use own workout files through the cloud.
Sync to Garmin, Strava works reliable and the integration with intervals.icu is really great and useful.
Best thing about the app: the developer is really nice and answers really quick and helpful when I have any questions, thank you!

### 5/5 — The GOAT trainer app!

*2023-11-02, version 78*

I found this app because I was looking for a low/no cost trainer app with support for Apple Watch HR sync. I got so much more.

It does everything you’d expect but the reason you MUST try this app is for the support. I found a bug and some missing features I wanted, so I reached out to the developer. The bug was fixed and suggestions implemented within 24 hours! Try getting that level of service from Zwift or Bkool.

### 5/5 — App. Break away cycling Indoor

*2023-03-16, version 66*

### 5/5 — A fully-featured app to solve your structured training needs

*2023-03-10, version 65*

Breakaway is an app for people who want to save some money on the high-cost of structured training. For the equivalent of a few dollars a month, you can connect your phone to your trainer and import your own structured workouts manually or from services like Intervals.icu and Training Peaks. The app has a lot of features and customization options and the support is first class. If you’re more interested in training (Trainer Road, Today’s Plan) rather than virtual riding (Zwift etc), it’s well worth downloading to save a few dollars.

### 5/5 — Great Simple Smart Trainer Controller

*2022-09-05, version 58*

I’ve been after a simple controller for my Saris H3 smart trainer. I don’t want an avatar, I don’t want to race people and I don’t want to pay £20 a month on a subscription and I want something that works on my phone.
I’ve tried Zwift, TrainerRoad and Golden Cheetah but none of them ticked “my” boxes.
The interface for Breakaway is simple and intuitive. The layout is similar to trainer road. The app connected to my Saris H3 trainer and my BT heart rate monitor without issue. First time every time. I’ve been using it a couple of weeks and if you don’t mind a couple of adverts in the banner, which I don’t, then I can highly recommend it. Would happily pay a one off fee for it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Pay to do works

*2024-11-05, version 93*

So I pay training days for a workout plan then import that plan to interval then it’s downloaded to breakaway where I have to pay or watch 85 ads to do ONE of my workouts, ya how about no. Looked promising at the start erg training with less fluff simple, free, no subscriptions, sure no subscription but you have to pay. Not worth the data it takes out.

### 1/5 — Just let me buy the app !

*2024-03-13, version 88*

App requires “medals” for use. Medals are acquired by purchase or watching ad’s. I’m an adult, just let me buy the app and stop it with the semi-free bait & switch antics. Downloaded app to use HR mode with a Wahoo Kickr bike, no idea if it works. Can’t find the number of “Medals” that are in my account. Beginning my ride and app announces only 5hours per month, then announces 1hour 9mins allowed. Licensing in this app is a mess.

Downloaded app to use HR mode with a Wahoo Kickr bike, no idea if it works, despite finding my bike and HRM via BT, app does not seem to display the Target HR and so I am unable to set the Target.

**Developer response:** HR target mode feature and how it works can be found here. Take note that if you’re not using intervals.icu to design your HR Target Mode structured Workout, you would not be able to see the HR Target values unless you changed the data fields to also show HR Target.

If you need more help, please use the app’s “contact developer” link and we will be able to help you out.

### 2/5 — problems with GPS match

*2025-11-02, version 96*

With my SB20 soeed and power with a GPS route is about 1/3 of the reality. Running the app in parallel to the Stages app the problem is quantified. Are there updates that have fixed this ? - if this gets fixes i will add more ratings stars

### 2/5 — Bad monetisation Model

*2025-08-26, version 95*

Alot of ads etc. I would buy the App but it’s Not possible

### 4/5 — Impressive

*2024-11-15, version 94*

Great structured workout solution. Hooked it up to AIEndurance to follow my AI workouts via intervals.icu and it works an absolute treat. Funky little map feature it adds a random virtual ride map to each workout. Cool feature. Wpuld love to see the profile section take much bigger prominence on the app home screen buttons as this could be a really powerful and unique feature. Its really nicely thought out in detail. The workout screens themselves are not quite as slick as wahoo / trainer road but i was super impressed to see some of the old sufferfest workouts already in here. Would like a few more of those like Defender and Attacker and big gear low cadence intervals with cadence targets. The ability to build my own and export / sync would also be very cool but for what it is this application is pretty fantastic. Might like a bit more synchronisation pulling eFTP or actual from garmin / intervals.icu etc. Very cool how it auto connects any nearby sensors. So slick. Lots of impressive little details like that and the ability to simply increase decrease intensity with a quick tap and not fiddling with settings is well thought out flexibility. The screen on landscape mode works great like other apps too. Would like to set it on constant dark mode and cant see where though. Generally the UI Could do with a little tidying up with the play/pause button and a couple minor bits but again its absolutely fantastic for what it is!! The pop up ad / medals thing is a bit annoying and nonsensical and makes this feel like a cheap candy crush type app which it absolutely is not. Id encourage the developer to really rethink that weird element, but its not caused too much distraction yet. In summary I highly recommend this app, it has so much potential!

### 4/5 — Almost Great

*2023-03-02, version 65*

Very flexible/configurable app, and really nice to have direct integration with intervals.icu. The HR target/erg is also fantastic to mix it up from power based workouts. But please add some kind of option for one-time purchase to remove medals/ads, would happily pay.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-10-05, version 96*

Use your trainer like you want to. This app is fantastic if you want to keep it simple while still remaining in control. Also easy to import workouts as files which seems to be hard for other apps.

### 5/5 — Top app per l’allenamento!

*2025-09-22, version 95*

### 5/5 — Fantastic Cycling App with Pro-Level Features

*2025-07-31, version 95*

This app has quickly become my go-to for indoor training. The integration with Intervals.icu and Strava is seamless, making post-ride analysis super easy. I love the three customizable page displays — it feels like using a high-end Garmin bike computer but on my trainer. Being able to switch between ERG and resistance mode on the fly, even mid-workout, is a game changer. The GPS map integration is a nice touch too, and showing 0 elevation benefits the stats ;) I wish there was a way to get access to customisable workouts (from intervals.icu) without using “medals” and having a one time payment option. Customer service is exceptional, developer responded to a question of mine within a day. Overall, it’s a powerful, well-thought-out app for serious cyclists which deserves more recognition.

### 5/5 — Simple but exactly what I needed

*2025-07-30, version 95*

This is exactly what I was looking for, simple easy lightweight and connects to every other app I need. Works great with my zwift indoor trainer.

There are loads of workouts and the option to upload your own, but you can also watch ads to get some extra fancy (painful) ones.

### 5/5 — good for syncing

*2025-06-09, version 95*

I’m using this to sync Withings and Apple Health (Sleep, Steps, SpO2, HR) to Intervals.icu

### 5/5 — Simply the best

*2025-04-24, version 95*

Best Indoor Training App

### 5/5 — Great app for when it is cold or wet outside

*2025-03-29, version 95*

A very easy app to setup, less than 2 minutes. You get credit time on the app by watching some ads. If you don’t want to watch, then pay for credit, really good value ($1.99 AUD). I am very happy doing workouts indoors when it is wet outside. Note: it never gets cold enough not to ride outside here ( Brisbane, Australia).

### 5/5 — Eccellente

*2025-03-25, version 95*

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2025-03-17, version 95*

This app is great, not only for its workouts but its ability to sync between multiple 3rd party sites like Garmin

### 5/5 — Nice app!

*2025-01-19, version 95*

Using in combo with interval.icu is working well!
