### 2/5 — Unhappy with current app

*2026-08-14, version 1.3.5*

I have been a mouth breather all of my life. I am retraining myself to breathe deep into exhale fully. It was initially recommended to me to lie down with legs raised to keep my body calm while it acclimates. I thought after a week I would use the app, but my inhales are not as long as my exhales and that is purposeful. The strength version is too fast for my current issue. I started with the maintenance version, but there was only one set.
I bought the breather a couple years ago and used the app. I don’t recall it being so difficult or impossible to modify in a way that works best for me. I guess I will continue doing this on my own until the app seems a viable option.

### 2/5 — annoying app

*2026-03-13, version 1.3.5*

why can’t i go backwards a day? it’s 12 am and trying to do my exercise for the day it was 5 minutes ago and it won’t let me. idiotic

### 2/5 — Mediocre App

*2025-12-13, version 1.3.5*

Expected more from the manufacturer of The Breather device. There are apps that easier and simpler to use than Breather Coach.

### 3/5 — Needs tweaking

*2025-11-06, version 1.3.5*

The app is OK for timing the inhale/exhale but it would be. I’ve to have an audible “heads up” when it’s about to begin. I’m not going to sit and stare at my phone waiting for the next reps to start. Also, an audible running count of how many reps would be super helpful.

### 2/5 — Could be better

*2025-10-06, version 1.3.5*

The breather device itself is very helpful. The app could use some improvements though.
Pros: keeps track of reps, and the AI voice is pleasant.
Cons: can’t reset the settings such as a break in between reps. Once you choose a plan, you are stuck with whatever settings you first chose. Even if you try to cancel that plan and choose it again to get to a menu to select other settings, the app takes you back to the plan/settings you first chose…even though you need to change those settings. The app needs to be more user friendly.

### 3/5 — Generally good

*2025-03-18, version 1.2.7*

Working with this app and the basic breather worked well. However, upgrading to the Breather Fit hasn't been smooth.
The app seems to lack the ability to change your device and its new training program. Calls and emails to the company have gone unanswered.

### 3/5 — A decent timer

*2025-02-17, version 1.2.4*

The timer function works good but when you are within range it will not let you record it. It feels like the update is very buggy. Most functions don't work.

### 2/5 — Down for months

*2025-02-03, version 1.1.5*

I miss using my breather. The app has been down for months. It’s just a timer so I’ll find something else it’s just weird.

### 1/5 — Disappointed of the Age Restriction

*2025-01-09, version 1.1.5*

I bought the Breather Voice for my daughter who has Vocal Cord Dysfunction (VCD). I gifted it to her early for Christmas because basketball season has already started and she needs to try and train her and strengthen her laryngeals and breathing. After gifting her the device, she can’t download this app!!! Y’all need to fix the age restriction ASAP!!! I didn’t purchase her Breather for her to not be able to use it with the app. She’s 15. The device is for ages 8-98. Why is the app for 17+???? It’s ridiculous. I feel like I should have spent the extra money and got the airofit pro that’s app allows users ages 4+. May very well send back the device for a refund and go that route anyway.

**Developer response:** Mjb83, Hi Morgan!

Good morning.

Thank you for your feedback and we apologize for the inconvenience it has caused you. As we've advised you before, we have already coordinated with our app developers to have our app updated.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to breathercoach@pnmedical.com

### 4/5 — Replay

*2024-12-10, version 1.1.5*

I can't replay a video for a day. I am on day four accidentally exited out of the video and now you can't replay it. I've even started the app again. Otherwise app is pretty decent.

### 2/5 — Do not like as did with original app

*2024-11-28, version 1.1.5*

No way to set up interval settings until the start of each training session. It functions ok to meet the goal of providing a trainer but doesn’t really do anything else other than giving a daily training notification.

### 1/5 — Bad app, now even worse

*2024-11-08, version 1.0.20*

What was an inexplicably inept app is now just plain bad. It still forces you to watch its terrible videos if you want to change anything. It still forces you to take one day per week off.

Worse, it’s now taken away the capability of allowing an extra second or two for inhaling or exhaling. Why is that no longer selectable?

This company needs to get outside its “we know what’s best for you” medical bubble and find somebody who knows how to create an iOS app. This is a disaster.

### 1/5 — Horrible downgrade

*2024-11-05, version 1.0.20*

What a absolute piece of garbage. Not 1 improvement from the old app. ZERO Stars!

### 1/5 — Like the breather, hate the app

*2024-10-31, version 1.0.20*

Learned how to use The Breather device with my speech therapist after having throat cancer. She had the old app and it was fine. This version of the app is terrible. Had to devise my own method of timing my breaths in and out so I wouldn’t have to use the app.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2024-10-26, version 1.0.20*

I can’t hate this app enough. I didn’t like it before the new one and this one is even worse. Such a shame because I do love the tool. But, if I had known how terrible this app was before buying the tool I wouldn’t have spent the money.

### 2/5 — Downgrade

*2024-10-23, version 1.0.20*

I liked the countdown. Don’t like this at all.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App update

*2026-08-03, version 1.3.5*

Why would I continue to use an app that hasn’t been updated for more than a year? And the first thing asked was to link to my Bluetooth? There is no Bluetooth or electronic part of my device? Very confused.

### 1/5 — Expensive piece of plastic and basic app

*2026-06-28, version 1.3.5*

The Breather is very expensive for what you get and if you buy the basic model (which is still $60), you can’t get the adapter that allows you to use the gaming feature. You also can’t just use the app when you want to. If you miss the morning training you can’t pick up on the evening training. If you’re going to charge me that much for a piece of plastic, at least allow the autonomy to use the features without jumping through a bunch of hoops. I’m about ready to dump it off for a basic incentive breather.

### 1/5 — No notifications!!

*2025-10-30, version 1.3.5*

Was excited to start training with my new device… then discovered the app doesn’t work. Set up the notifications and not one time have they worked. Very disappointing. Having a $50 plastic device with an app that doesn’t work is a complete waste. Avoid!!

### 1/5 — Timeline

*2025-06-26, version 1.3.5*

6/26/25 update: AVOID THIS PRODUCT/APP. The Breather Voice I got is defective within 15 days of use. 3/6 of resistance settings are broken on one side. Have emailed the company 5 times, and submit requests through website. Nobody responds.

This product would really take off if it had the ability for you to choose which exercises to do, and when life happens and you skip an exercise, you’re able to go back. Right now the app is a one because it is an afterthought and it seems the developers are not on payroll to make any changes. It would be greatly helpful to be able to choose exercise exercises on the fly and access a strength training program, simultaneously with the endurance program. We as consumers want that option.

### 1/5 — No customer support at all

*2025-05-19, version 1.3.5*

I have not been able to get any Bluetooth devices to work with this app. Unfortunately I have wasted my money.
I contacted them many many times…worthless

### 1/5 — No default training plan

*2025-05-10, version 1.3.5*

The only 3 options are for elite athletes not according to the default instructions of being "In The Zone" Terrible setup with no ability to customize or change an existing plans settings for target difficulty. Disappointing, needs improvement.

### 1/5 — Does not work with Breather Voice

*2025-05-09, version 1.3.5*

When first starting the app and choosing breather voice plan. It keeps asking to pair breather x and has no option to bypass. This app is unusable. Please fix.

### 1/5 — Appears to only work with Bluetooth devices

*2025-04-27*

I have not been able to get any Bluetooth devices to work with this app. Unfortunately I can’t use it without a device. Would much rather just have it go through phone speaker.
I contacted them but no reply … worthless

**Developer response:** Good morning,

Thank you for your feedback.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this matter may have caused.

Please be advised that the Breather X adapter (Bluetooth) is currently under development and unavailable on the market. In the meantime, you may continue to use and train with your Breather device in conjunction with the Breather Coach App, even without the Bluetooth functionality.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

### 1/5 — Frustrating

*2025-03-23*

Please spend some time to fix this app. It is difficult to keep on track with the Breather device when the app can’t find your data, repeatedly.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Worth it.

*2026-02-19, version 1.3.5*

I bought a breathe fit a while ago but didn’t start using it until recently. I can say it’s very quickly improved my endurance and well worth a few minutes a day to get such good results. There are some other really good breath work exercises in the app that you do separately that I have also found really useful too.

### 5/5 — Decent App

*2025-07-21, version 1.3.5*

I feel like the app is a helpful add-on to the tool. I didn’t have access to the old one like a lot of people did, but I like it a lot so far and find that it helps me stay on track with a schedule. Being able to go along with a tool is helpful as well.

### 5/5 — Added features

*2024-11-15, version 1.1.4*

I like that you brought back some of the old features and added a few new ones. So much better! Great job!

### 5/5 — The New App is Terrific!

*2024-10-23*

The new app motivates me to do the exercises when prompted, because:
1) It’s overall design, including color, sizing, placement of icons, and measures keep my attention.
2) The supplemental exercises for voice are an attractive new feature.
3) The cumulative measures that track my progress encourage me to maintain my streak.
Looking forward to upcoming videos.
I have used the Blue and the Black Breathers; I am now using the Voice Breather. My consistency had been lacking; however, that has changed with the new app. It is terrific! Thank you so much.

### 5/5 — Great with Breather Fit

*2024-09-10, version 1.0.17*

I’ve been a Breather Fit user for more that a year. This app is a great addition. Makes the exercises more fun and helps me know that I’m doing the right. My fitness and health has significantly improved.

### 5/5 — Love the new breather coach app🔥

*2024-09-09, version 1.0.17*

Coming from the original app, I absolutely love what ya’ll did with Breather Coach! I really appreciate the layout and user accessibility, as well as all the instructional videos. Using the breather voice has definitely made a positive impact on myself as a vocalist/performer, and utilizing the app has helped me stay consistent and better track my progress

### 5/5 — improved features

*2024-09-09, version 1.0.17*

I’ve been using the old version of the app for a couple years and this new release you guys just posted is a big improvement

I really like that you’re now adding gaming and you’ve made it easier to navigate and use the app

### 5/5 — New App Same Great Product

*2024-09-09, version 1.0.17*

As an athlete who enjoy mountain biking, hiking and camping I purchased the Breather Fit to help with my fitness goals. I can say after using it for 30+ days I’m sold on it.

Over the weekend I downloaded the new companion app and have been loving the new look and flow.

If you’re considering using The Breather I highly recommend you give it a shot.

### 5/5 — User-Friendly!

*2024-09-07, version 1.0.17*

Loving the dark mode, ease of use, and the videos to guide you along the way!

### 5/5 — Positive upgrade vibes

*2024-09-06, version 1.0.17*

So far I’m liking the new upgrades. Thank you for making these app changes available for us to utilize.
