### 5/5 — Such a great thoughtful app

*2025-03-21, version 2.1*

This App really allows you to focus on breathing - clear and simple graphics, clear instructions, no ads.

Exactly what an app on breathing should be.

### 5/5 — Not just Great, Important

*2024-12-11*

Thank you for your hard work :)

### 5/5 — This app has been amazing

*2024-11-17, version 2.1*

What a lovely thing to do for the world, add free. Makes me calm thinking about that while I’m breathing. It’s great to be kind.

### 5/5 — Beautiful app

*2024-10-14*

It’s a beautiful and well made breathing app. I just wish it shared data to Apple Health.

### 5/5 — Reliable and great value

*2024-05-12, version 2.1*

App is free, has all you need and is great to use. No subscriptions that lock you out of simple features, literally greets you with a “start” button and off you go. I have some nitpicks but it made me happy to find an app like this so five stars Some comments: - When configuring the time for a breathing pattern, it doesn’t show the full two digits (e.g. Instead of ‘10’ minutes it shows ‘1 ..’) - Would like a “streak” feature as an option, personally I’d like to see how long I consistently use an app - Additionally, some progress tracking would be nice too, which shows graphs and other relevant measurements to show how often I use the app

### 5/5 — Simple and useful

*2024-05-12, version 2.1*

A nice UI and no fuss timer without annoying ads or signups.

### 5/5 — Great, Easy, Free, No Ads

*2024-04-09*

This app is so simple yet affective. Thank you so much for not adding advertisements all over the app. This has helped me tremendously and is worth the download. Best app I’ve downloaded in years!

### 5/5 — Free and easy app to use

*2024-02-27, version 2.1*

Love it!

### 5/5 — Play in background

*2024-02-07*

Great app! It would be perfect if it can play in background without focusing on the app.

### 5/5 — ¡Es una belleza de app!

*2024-02-06, version 2.1*

### 5/5 — Simple and amazing app

*2023-11-23, version 2.1*

It boggles me how some of the paid apps hit me with a torrent of pop ups and options which ends up stressing me out even though I downloaded them to calm me down. This is so much simpler to use and free. Would reccomend.

### 5/5 — Excellent. Begging for an update though.

*2023-09-25, version 2.1*

Three things to make it a 6 star app.

1: Add a couple extra guided breathing sounds eg different bells, flute, voices.

2: when selecting a timer longer than 10 minutes, you can’t see the number you’re selecting. Quick design fix.

3: add resonant breathing in the guided list (5.5-0-5.5-0).

Otherwise thank you Dev.

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2022-09-29*

I love this app. I can regulate my breathing so easily. And I like how the words increase and decrease in size. I wish I could change the color of the background screen but other than that it’s perfect

### 5/5 — Simple, elegant app

*2022-08-22*

This is easily the best breath timer out there, with a few presets and the ability to create a custom pattern. Beautiful in every way! No ads, which is great.

### 5/5 — ¡Excelente!

*2022-06-24, version 1.8*

¡Genial!

### 5/5 — Just what I wanted! Thank you. Simple and plenty of choices

*2022-02-21*

Excellent

### 5/5 — Great with one gap

*2022-01-10*

Fantastic app but it would be even more terrific if it integrated with Apple health.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can’t play with screen off

*2025-04-26, version 2.1*

Controlled breathing doesn’t require an app to be always have the screen on to work. Needs to be able to work in the background especially when trying to sleep.

### 1/5 — Annoying

*2025-04-05*

The last thing I want is to hear a voice when I'm trying to relax. I have my own timers. It doesn't even have a sine wave breathing technique.

### 3/5 — Vibration not working?

*2025-01-05, version 2.1*

With audio disabled vibrate does not work?

### 3/5 — Good for beginners

*2020-01-26, version 1.3*

Ease of use (9/10):
It’s fairly easy to use. The design is simple.
UI (9/10):
A simple design with beautiful flow. Easy to navigate and use.
Features (3/10):
It has templates, but they’re not customisable and you cannot add more. You can opt for guided breathing (audio) or just follow the screen prompts on silent. You can also set a timer for duration instead of sets of breathing.
Sounds/Vibrations (5/10):
The guided breathing isn’t as peaceful as one would expect, but it isn’t unpleasant either. It sounds like low quality audio was used, making it sound a bit crispy on the ears.
Overall (6.5/10):
Being simplistic allows it to be very easy to use and navigate. The design and feel are very beautiful. It doesn’t have a lot of customisability, but it does come loaded with 5 pre-set breathing patterns. The audio is very useful and easy to follow, but sounds a bit rustic.

### 4/5 — Suggestion

*2021-01-22*

Like the app. But I would like a numerical counter as I follow along. It’s hard to know how to exhale or inhale based on just the circle. A timer would help me spread out the length of breath

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! Do you mean a numerical counter for each step? I think it's a good idea. I'll capture it and see if I can work on it once I have some free time!

### 5/5 — Thank you

*2026-07-01, version 2.1*

this is something i rely on during my hard times thank you for making this free and with no ads

### 5/5 — LOVE IT

*2026-02-15, version 2.1*

I had trouble sleeping and this helped me! Thank you.

### 5/5 — The best I have seen so far

*2025-12-22*

This is the best free application for relaxation and sleep and reduction of a blood pressure. Good job and God bless you.

### 5/5 — Use it daily!

*2025-11-25, version 2.1*

Thank you for making this free without ads or upgrades!!!! Finally something that is for the people!

### 5/5 — Simple, beautiful and calming

*2025-09-27*

I was looking for a really simple and beautiful app for breathing and came across this one. It’s exactly what I needed and it’s made me excited to do breathing exercises

## Most praised reviews (5 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Wonderful

*2025-08-27*

Thank you!
Such a joy to use.
The app allows me to modify as needed for each session, without unnecessary complexity.
I love it.
The only breathing app I use anymore (and I tried a lot).

### 5/5 — So helpful

*2025-08-23*

This helped me through a really hard time. I suggest the bell for the voice. If you need a breathing app, get this one. I normally don’t write reviews, but I did for this one. Thank you for reading my review. 😊

### 5/5 — Free

*2025-07-22, version 2.1*

Thank you to u/Mazzaaaaa for creating this 🎉 I’ve been searching for a breathing exercise app that works for me without a subscription, and here it is!

⏳ I can use a default pattern and timer, and set my own.
🎧I can play my own music in the background.
✔️The simple interface is straightforward.
🌵It doesn’t try to walk me through a program or sign me up for life-coaching. I don’t even need to create an account. It gives me a guided breathing exercise, and doesn’t put anything else in the way 😌

I can’t believe how long it took me to find this. I must’ve tried a dozen other breathing apps, payed a subscription with some and free trials with others, but each & every one of them frustrated me until eventually I’d give it up. Then I tried searching Reddit for free app recommendations and found this. Now that I’ve finally found it, I’d pay a small one-time fee for it, so I’ll check out the dev’s site for a donation option. Mostly, I hope writing this little review helps others find it too.

### 5/5 — Incredible

*2025-04-12*

Thank you very much for sharing Breathly with the world. It feels so weird finding an app that’s extremely useful and.. free? Even with Apple’s annual cost to put apps on the store?

It’s a very pure app, it feels like something that belongs in the 1990s dreams of what we thought the Internet could be. You’re very generous, I’m very grateful.

I feel a bit silly suggesting a feature for a free app, but if you ever get bored and feel like changing Breathly: it’d be cool if the app could write to the Health app’s Mindful Minutes data. (I like seeing the number go up…)

### 5/5 — It Works

*2025-04-06*

It works but I wish the developer would update the app but hey that takes time a money.
