### 3/5 — Poor timer

*2025-11-14, version 2.0.7*

This is a good app with the exception of the timer. If you want to set a timer you get options for 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 30 minutes. I need to set it for 20 minutes and there’s no way to do that.

### 3/5 — Keeps stopping

*2024-01-26, version 2.0.7*

I’ve used this app for years, recommended by a Mayo Clinic doctor, and it worked fine. Lately it goes for a minute or so, then stops, and I can’t figure out why.

### 3/5 — Almost what I needed….

*2021-12-14, version 2.04*

I’m learning some breathwork, increasing the daily amount of time I practice incrementally. But somebody seems to have forgotten there are numbers between 15 and 30, and that appears to be the only amount of increase in minutes I can do, nothing between.

Otherwise, easy to set up exactly like I wanted! I would not have paid for it had I known there weren’t unlimited increases in time.

A swing and a miss for me.

### 4/5 — Worked great until I updated my IOS

*2019-10-10, version 2.03*

I love this app. It was recommended by the Mayo Clinic for me. However I just updated my iPhone XS to ios version 13.1.2 and now it won’t work, it crashes every time I open the app. I rebooted my phone and uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no luck. Please can you please put out an update so I can use the app again?

### 1/5 — I’m puzzled! I only downloaded this app 24 hours ago!

*2018-08-03, version 2.02*

My NFB expert helped me download your app & he showed me how to use it. (Yesterday)
However, it no longer does the
bell that goes off to tell me when to inhale & when to exhale.
Also, the cartoon circle (looks like this ⭕️) no longer gets bigger then smaller; it just sits there. :\

### 3/5 — Good but

*2017-11-26, version 2.02*

It’s good but the animations stop working whenever you leave and come back to the app

### 1/5 — It used to be a wonderful app.

*2017-10-19, version 2.02*

I started using this app as a recommendation from a biofeedback doctor at the Mayo Clinic, to help with my migraines. My numbers (inhale/hold/exhale/hold) were determined by the doctor after biofeedback session. The app worked wonderfully until an update that doesn't allow you to set you specific numbers anymore - you can only enter whole seconds now for some reason. They took something that worked for each individual and made it generic. I wish I could get my money back. I'm going to contact my doctor to see which other app he recommends or if the clinic doctors have finally developed their own. Before they changed the app, I could regulate my body temperature and heart rate perfectly. Very disappointed.

### 1/5 — New Version is Horrible

*2017-10-19, version 2.02*

The new update is awful. The audio and visual cues went from peaceful and easily understood to annoying and ambiguous. The breath pacer frequently will not start when the "play" button is pressed, requiring a reboot to render it functional again. In short, the previous UI was far superior, and the new changes make the app nigh unusable.

### 2/5 — Not worth buying

*2017-01-01, version 1.11*

Audio cues are not distinct enough to be useful. Visual cues are usable but require focus on the app. Has a significant effect on iPhone speed and agility. Even free it has more negative impacts than positive. So it's a waste of money.

### 3/5 — Helpful but full of bugs

*2016-05-22, version 1.11*

This is helpful for practicing paced breathing but it could be a lot better. The timer feature does not work (you can set it but it doesn't do anything) and there are buttons that go off the edge of the screen making them useless. Seems like this would be easy to fix.

### 2/5 — Horrible Sound FX

*2014-01-20, version 1.11*

This "oceanic" inhale and exhale indicator sounds are awful!!! They are very noisy and do not cleary indicate the start nor end of a repetition. The rest is ok. Good thing you can set all 4 times (inhale pause exhale pause)

### 2/5 — Utile,ma si poteva fare di più'

*2012-09-27, version 1.11*

Utile e pratico,ma si poteva curare meglio grafica e la parte degli
effetti sonori che sono coadiuvanti del rilassamento.Considerando
che non è gratis...si poteva fare molto di più.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2012-02-28, version 1.11*

Out of all of the breathing apps available, this one is certainly the worst.

This is a nice try but it just does not compare.

### 1/5 — No

*2011-05-17, version 1.11*

Um the sounds stopped working on mine like 2 days after using it. And I agree, you shouldn't have to look at the screen

### 2/5 — Great app with one serious limitation

*2011-04-23, version 1.11*

If I'm able to stare at the screen while doing the breathing exercise, it works great. After 15 minutes, I feel incredibly calm and centered, not matter what kind of mood I was in before.

Thing is, I'd like to be able to do this while not staring at the screen. I need to sit in front of an acne light with my eyes closed for 30 minutes a day. Other reviewers have mentioned other perfectly ordinary scenarios in which it would be possible to use this app to great effect but they can't because they'd have to stare at the screen the whole time.

Unfortunately the wave sound that's supposed to indicate when to switch from breathing in to breathing out is completely useless. It sounds nice but there's no way I can tell from the sound what to do. I'm surprised the app was released like this. Even testing with just one user should have uncovered this major flaw.

Is it worth $3? I'd say yes but... It doesn't seem like the product is being developed any more, so don't hold your breath for a solution.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Devs gave up?

*2023-04-26, version 2.0.6*

This WAS great. Somewhere in February-ish of this year the app stopped having the ability structure breathing patterns (in,hold, out, hold) - the comments on the reviews seem to have been saying the same thing over and over again for months and no updates have fixed the problem. Would not recommend in its present form.

### 1/5 — Schrecklich

*2023-03-22, version 2.0.6*

Ist das Geld nicht wert.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work as described

*2022-04-27, version 2.04*

No way to program to fraction of seconds. Basic and better apps available for free.

### 1/5 — Wish I hadn’t bought

*2021-08-09, version 2.04*

App does not have capability to alter breath time throughout session as promised. I feel lied to !

### 1/5 — Absolute rubbish :-(

*2020-11-24, version 2.04*

Absolute rubbish- does not give the functionality it promises- I’m getting a refund - I so wanted it to be useful - sorry lava :-(

### 1/5 — This does nothing.

*2020-07-28, version 2.04*

I purchased it and it literally doesn’t do anything that the description explains. No rain sounds, no variations to control, etc. and I can’t find a way to contact anyone for a refund. Total joke.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2019-10-10, version 2.03*

Purchased, downloaded several times on i-phone but doesn’t open.

### 1/5 — Stopped working with iOS 13

*2019-10-01, version 2.03*

Since updating my phone I can no longer open the app which is an unpleasant surprise. I hope it will be fixed so I can at least retrieve my metrics that the doctor has given me to use.

### 1/5 — iOS 13

*2019-09-30, version 2.03*

I’m only rating it at one star because the app no longer opens with the new iOS 13 update. As soon as you update the app to accommodate the new operating system, I’ll actually give it 5 stars. It’s been helping me with managing my disautonomia, and I do need it as part of my physical therapy. I hope you get this fixed soon.

### 1/5 — Can no longer set specific times

*2018-08-07, version 2.02*

I purchased this app upon recommendation from my doctor to set specific breathing times to the nearest 10th of a second. This functionality was removed in the update. I would give this a higher rating if the functionality is brought back.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Simple perfection

*2023-05-22, version 2.0.7*

I love this app, it’s clean, clear, with no extra stuff to bog down my brain. It just does the job. My go to before meetings and bed. Added perk, kids love it, a win win for emotional regulation and transitioning!

### 5/5 — Looking at the screen IS IMPORTANT!

*2016-03-31, version 1.11*

I just got back from the AAPB conference (American Association for Psychophysiology and Biofeedback) where I learned about this fantastic app. During the presentation where it was mentioned (HRV for treatment of concussion) the researcher mentioned that subjects DID NOT IMPROVE significantly if they DID NOT LOOK AT THE SCREEN while breathing. Go figure. Next, finding your resonant frequency is quite important. This app will start you at a ‘best guess’ based on your gender and height. But to really know you’d have to measure your heart rate variability (HRV) and find the breathing pace which maximizes your HRV (the amount/range your heart rate goes up with inhalation and down with exhalation). So if you could figure out how to watch this paced breathing app while using something like the Camera Heart Rate Variability app you could objectively determine your resonant breathing rate. Also, you need to have a regular practice (like exercise) to continue to experience the benefits). Go for it, it may just save your life someday - better HRV is associated with increased survival after heart attack.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2015-05-16, version 1.11*

I am very impressed with this app. I wanted to learn to meditate but realised that my breathing was completely wrong. This app has taught me how to breath correctly for meditation and has very much enhanced my meditation experience. It does take a little practice to learn how to breath with the sounds but after the first 30 mins it became easier and easier. Hope for an update soon although I cannot think of anything to add to it for improvement.

### 5/5 — A great tool for Raynaud's and other conditions

*2014-12-15, version 1.11*

After a friend of mine was referred for thermal biofeedback training at Mayo for relief of migraines, I "googled" it to see if it would be helpful for Raynaud's (vasoconstriction to my fingers, toes, and ears associated with cold temperatures). In one appointment the doctor explained it to me, and tried a few settings with discussion I between each trial. After a few attempts, he found my"sweet spot" in which a 3-minute session raised my finger temperatures by5 degrees F. He suggested I buy Breath Pacer for my IPAD and wrote the numbers I should start at, working slowly to be able to slow my breathing even more during my sessions. I use it 3 times daily, and not only does it help my D's, but my blood pressure is decreased by it also. I would recommend this for people who have Raynaud's, migraines, hypertension, or who would just like to reduce their stress levels. By practicing with the machine 3 times daily, I find I can slow my breathing similarly when I am hiking I or doing other activities in cold weather, and help to increase the blood flow to my fingers while I am doing what I love.

### 5/5 — ONE OF THE BEST BREATHING APPS

*2014-05-14, version 1.11*

A great breathing app. I like the b.p.m. display and that you have complete control of your breathing pattern. The app displays simplistic beauty. Total control of inhale, exhale, and breath retention, what more could you ask for? This is one of the top breathing apps out there.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2011-04-20, version 1.11*

This is a brill app, I use it to reduce my blood pressure and it has done just that. I just wish a time remaining indicator could be added, not too much of a problem I would have thought, please consider, otherwise fist class and would not be without it.

### 5/5 — THE BEST application

*2010-12-22, version 1.11*

This is a simple little application, but it really is well-designed, with an intuitive interface, and sound effects that really add to the experience. I've used it to do breathing exercises at work, and after I get home from work, and it really helps. The "help" section is well-written and informative. The graphics are great. I absolutely recommend it, and have been waiting for an application like this for a while. Thanks for creating it! I can't even think of a way to improve it!

### 5/5 — Very good

*2009-06-13, version 0*

Good, but better sounds, even beeps will do

### 5/5 — This is a Fantasticaly perfect app

*2009-06-03, version 0*

What's not to like about it? You just set your height, and click start. You listen to rainforest? music paced to your breathing. And, you also watch a bar move up-down. It's realy helpful for anxiety attacks, & to settle yourself down if you feel nauseous. Great breathing - wellbeing is what you're missing out on.. it'll pay for itself in no time

### 5/5 — ottima app

*2008-11-29, version 0*

veramente un aiuto per chi vuole rilassarsi tramite il controllo della respirazione
