## What is Breaths Per Minute?

Tap the screen once for each breath you observe. The app calculates the rate in real time — no mental math, no fumbling with a stopwatch. A built-in timer ensures you count long enough for an accurate result, and every measurement is saved automatically so you can review your full history anytime.

WHY IT MATTERS

Dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, babies, and adults can all suffer from conditions that show up as changes in breathing rate — heart failure, asthma, lung disease, pain, fever, and more. Catching an upward trend early can make a real difference. Veterinary cardiologists routinely ask pet owners to monitor resting respiratory rate at home, and this app makes it effortless.

NAME YOUR PET OR PERSON

Assign a name and emoji to your measurements so you always know who they belong to. Your measurement history stays clearly labeled and easy to read back.

MEASUREMENT NOTES

Add a note to any measurement — "after a walk", "post-medication", "vet asked to recheck". Your notes are saved alongside the reading and included in exports.

AUTO-STOP

The measurement can stop itself: adaptively, a few moments after you stop tapping — or after a fixed 30 or 60 second window, the way vets usually instruct. A countdown ring shows the time remaining, and the phone vibrates when the measurement is done.

TIMED HAPTIC ALERTS

A gentle vibration at 30 and 60 seconds lets you know how long you've been counting without taking your eyes off your pet.

EXPORT & SHARE

Your data is never locked in. Export your full measurement history as a CSV spreadsheet — free for everyone. With Pro, turn it into a clean PDF report with a summary table and trend chart — ready to print or email straight from the app.

PRO FEATURES

Upgrade to Pro to unlock multiple profiles — track each pet or family member separately with their own history. Create vet-ready PDF reports with a summary table and trend chart. Back up all your profiles and measurements to a JSON file, and restore them on any device. CSV export of your raw data stays free for everyone. Pro is available as a monthly or annual subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase.

LOCALIZED FOR YOU

Dates display in your local format. The app is available in English, Russian, German, and Spanish.

This app is an observation tool, not a medical device. Always consult a qualified professional for health decisions.

### 2/5 — Confused

*2026-06-08*

I don’t think the haptic buzz is working. I can’t tell when to start and stop tapping. So frustrating! I’d gladly pay for the app..if I knew it would work. Letting it go so you don’t have the same amount of time each time you take a reading is not helpful at all!! Please let me know what’s wrong!

**Developer response:** Hi, and sorry for the frustration — let me clear this up!

First, the changing time is intentional, not a glitch. Breathing rate is simply the number of breaths divided by the exact time they took. So rather than counting breaths over a fixed interval (which is less precise), the app measures the precise time your taps span and divides by your breath count. The more breaths you count, the more accurate the reading.

Second, the haptic buzz isn't a metronome telling you when to tap — you tap once per breath whenever you're ready. It's a cue that you've measured long enough for a reliable result, so you know it's safe to stop.

If you're not feeling any buzz at all, please check:
• Haptic feedback is turned on in the app menu
• The 30/60s haptic alert is also turned on (this is the "you can stop now" cue)
• Vibration/haptics are enabled in your phone's system settings, and silent mode isn't suppressing them

If it still doesn't work, email us at pabsoftware@gmail.com with your phone model and we'll sort it out. Thanks for giving the app a chance!

### 5/5 — The absolute best!

*2026-05-11*

Thank you for this app. Wish I could buy something to support it! My sweet cat was diagnosed with asthma and I use this app multiple times a day to track her respiratory rate.

### 5/5 — Works!

*2026-03-25*

Used it for my cat’s breaths per minute. The settings were a little confusing but I just used it as is and matched what I got doing it “by hand”

### 3/5 — Winded

*2025-07-17*

This respiratory rate measurement tool is flawed. I noticed that there is a stop measurement option for either manual or auto or manual. This is very confusing to me. I do understand the manual only. However, the auto only is not indicated as an option. I do believe that it would be much better if once the person has completed the assessment that some kind of an alarm goes off or the measurement just stops automatically on its own, I can tell you that I am not a well person so I will kind of doze off. That’s just my normal behavior so this tool, this instrument does not work for me because I may have my eyes closed the entire time that my respiratory rate is being measured. So this tool does not work for me sorry.

### 5/5 — Works pretty good

*2024-08-21*

I’ve used this app on both of my cats..I think it’s pretty accurate..the only negative is that I would like to store records on both pets but seems like it will only save for one pet. I’d like to save the information on both my pets so I can take it to my vet.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-04-11*

Very easy to use and well designed. Also appreciate the haptic feedback and animations. Thank you!

### 3/5 — App won’t record breaths

*2024-03-28*

The first few times I used this app it recorded the cats breaths with no problem. Then it just stopped
One can count the breaths and have them calculated per minute, but it will not store them
😿. So, I have to use a separate piece of paper to keep a record for the Vet
