It’s not accepting when changing speaker input from Brennan speaker( home theater speakers) to Sonos speakers. A mediocre app at best. ### 1/5 — Not reliable or stable *2025-02-03, version 4.0.2* I am really getting fed up with the app and the lack of stability. It often does not find my B3 so I cannot make changes to a ripped CD that cannot be found on the data base. This has happened several times and I am now losing faith in the whole “Brennan set up”. I am fed up with following the set up options as they do not work even after deleting and re-installing the App. Having tried both manual and automatic searching this is still an issue. I have full fibre broadband hoping that this would help but alas more wasted time and frustration. ### 1/5 — Crashes every time *2025-01-21, version 4.0.2* I setup my new VB1 through the hotspot. I switched back to my wifi network and launched the app. The app found the VB1, but as soon as I selected it, the app crashed. Happens every time. How am I supposed to control things? Customer support goes to a dead link with a general email. Turn the b2 on, update software, turn off to reboot it and back on, launch search on the app, nothing, can’t find the b2. Manual entry copied the Wi-Fi op address from the b2, typed it on the manual entry box, nothing. All on the same network so just doesn’t work. Considering the technical ability of Mr Brennan this app must have been developed by a YTS student in his lunch break rather than Mr B. Woefully poor app. ### 2/5 — “Any iPhone?” *2023-11-12, version 4.0.2* Allegedly, any iPhone on the same network can connect to my B2. Mine does and works reasonably well. My wife’s won’t. When attempting to connect between Brennan and the second iPhone, the app claims that BrennanVB doesn’t exist. It then tells me that there’s no Brennan on the network. Doors to manual and enter the B2 address manually - same result. 1) switch off my iPhone completely - same result. 2) reboot Brennan and the second iPhone - same result. 3) restart the network, reboot Brennan and iPhone - same result (my phone has been switched off for all the above) Both out laptops can connect at the same time by using the old and new web interfaces without problem. But the app is intransigent. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Brennan B3 *2026-05-13, version 4.0.2* Having issues with the app, does not look anything like the adds. The unit looks great, but does not do a darn thing. Connects to Sonos but cuts out. Worst 700.00 dollars I have ever spent. ### 1/5 — So frustrating *2026-04-30, version 4.0.2* The B3 is exactly what I needed to coral my extensive CD collection into some sort of shape. What I don’t get is how a piece of kit costing £700 can have such a terrible interface. It is unreliable and unstable. Please do a deal with a proper developer to sort this out. ### 1/5 — Sonos Connection *2026-04-22, version 4.0.2* This thing has got to have the absolutely worst software interface. I’ve been at it all day trying to get this to find my Sonos speakers all for nothing. The people that are supposed to be providing support just repeat the issue that I’m having without instructing how to fix it. This is an awesome idea but I don’t think it’s ready for prime time. Not everyone that purchases it is an IT expert. Only gets a 1 star because I can’t give it zero. Hooked up to wifi withouy any issues, updated the software without any issues but once it comes to playing music the connection is completely unstable and the audio experience consequently is nithing short of appalling. Doesn’t show anything that is on the device or playing. Very disappointed. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Love it love it love it *2024-07-18, version 4.0.2* I have a disability that doesn't allow me to feel or interact with tangible objects. This app helps me out with 90+ percent of stuff I need to do or want to do simply by using my voice. Anything else that needs to be done such as updates I just have my family member help. Currently only using the B2 but it suits my needs more than adequately. Unless you're developer, the learning curve of the app is a little bit steep but all the answers are written there either in Brennan homepage on the web or YouTube… if you're a geek buy this thing! And remember, the music will only sound as good as your compression Quality prior to adding it to the hard drive in the Brennan. ### 5/5 — Beautiful. *2022-05-09, version 3.0.1* Features and functions work beautifully for me. It is the best of all mobile Brennan apps!! ### 4/5 — Needs slight improvement *2026-02-23, version 4.0.2* The concept is brilliant I’ve started ripping my CD collection onto the system and it is really easy to do. Obviously some CD’s the data base doesn’t recognise but that’s not a problem as I’ve just put them back in the CD rack and if I want to listen to them I’ll just play them on the player 🤷🏻‍♂️. The app could do with an update there’s a few things that could be improved. Like when playing a track from your downloaded material can we have the ability to search for other music and then line it up to play next as you can on all streaming apps. Also it would be good then to be able to add music to a playlist as it’s playing, another thing is as the track is playing it doesn’t have a time line of how long the track is or how long it’s been playing or how much time is left. I just think maybe if whoever developed the app could go and use Apple Music, Spotify etc and emulate how those systems work it would help to make playing music from your own library a lot easier and more enjoyable and engaging. Otherwise this is a brilliant piece of kit it’s just the app that lets it down ever slightly ### 4/5 — Love it *2025-06-23, version 4.0.2* Recently purchased a Brennan B3 and love being able to control playing with my phone via the app. I was worried I’d miss having a remote control but much prefer the app. I have an Ethernet connection direct to my B3 and so have no issues with connectivity. It would get 5 stars if there were a ‘home’ button to take you back to the full catalogue easily. ### 4/5 — Works well. *2024-09-03, version 4.0.2* This app works well provided you have a good network connection to both your tablette/phone device and your Brennan device. If you have problems with getting it to work, the first thing to look is your network. I have had no problems with this app since installing a mesh wifi system which gives good connectivity (no deadspots) throughout the house. The functionality is very good compared to the Sonos offering. ### 4/5 — Current 3.0.1 version functions well *2022-04-22, version 3.0.1* Current 3.0.1 version functions well. Has become my primary means of controlling my B2. Great for browsing CDs stored on B2. Granted it’s no BlueOs operating system, but for a small private company, the software does well. Simply having thousands of my CDs ripped in lossless uncompressed WAV files is good enough for me. Everything else is extra. ### 4/5 — Seems quite slick *2020-12-29, version 1.0.1* Just got a new B2 and in the process on transferring all our CDs onto it. We were using the Web interface but found the app. It’s simple but more streamlined than the web UI. Very hand for ripping and useful to have the search as a general search across all text whether it’s album, artist, track etc. Like the font used too. Am surprised by the poor reviews.
