### 2/5 — Connection issues

*2025-05-23, version 1.0.10*

Woke up after having nightglow air purifier in sleep mode to find it has disconnected itself from the internet and no longer wants to reconnect to wifi or Bluetooth, please fix this. Also app UI is super sluggish. (Wifi is working for everything else except loading things on the Breville app)

### 1/5 — App not up to date

*2024-05-04, version 1.0.8*

The app asks you to press the reset button. It does not exist in the appliance! Not good.

### 1/5 — Set up takes too long

*2024-02-23, version 1.0.8*

Who knows if the app is good, set up took forever and I gave up

Do not try do unless you have a good amount of time to spare

### 1/5 — Always a Pain to Connect / Reconnect Wi-Fi

*2023-10-12, version 1.0.6*

It’s always a pain when I use a different Wi-Fi router, a new iphone or a new Breville device. The user guide has confusing button names for On/Off, Reset, Wi-Fi. Nowadays, all routers and iphones switch automatically between 5GHz and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. it every router allows you to disable 5GHz. The Wi-Fi manual is still so outdated that it doesn’t mentioned that keeping 5GHz WiFi on will reduce the chance of success to 0%. The Wi-Fi chip in the 3D Circulator always complains that the Wi-Fi signal is weak even though its next to the router. Why can’t Breville update the online manual?

### 1/5 — Below breville standard

*2023-10-08, version 1.0.6*

Buggy app. Unreliable software that detracts from the hardware experience.
You can tell the software group is not up to the same standard as the hardware group.

### 2/5 — UI atrocious

*2023-07-08, version 1.0.6*

The AirRounder user interface prioritises aesthetics instead of functionality. Frustrating to use and get any form of specific control from the unit or smart home system - feels like a beta version and not in a good way

### 1/5 — Wifi capability

*2023-04-17, version 1.0.6*

Tried for a long time to connect my equipment to wifi but have been unsuccessful. While I attempt to manual enter wifi details it times out. Not be able to select wifi automatically make this app complicated and not user friendly. The app becomes useless.

### 1/5 — Absolute garbage - won’t buy this brand again

*2023-03-04, version 1.0.6*

I have a smart home so have loads of stuff connected up. Nothing has ever been an issue.

This doesn’t recognise device at all, no matter how many different ways you try, or when you sit right next to the router.

Also doesn’t integrate with keychain, but guess that doesn’t matter given the app is pointless and doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — Can’t connect my air purifier

*2023-02-14, version 1.0.6*

Tried multiple times, ensured I followed the instructions, but my phone isn’t finding the air purifier after entering my wifi password.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time or money

*2023-01-14, version 1.0.6*

App does not work when pairing devices, manual does not describe where reset button is or how to do so. App will not pick up 2.4Ghz and will not pick up my device through any method even Bluetooth. Monumental waste of time and money, highly recommended not purchasing items purely for wifi connection cause you may be disappointed. I’m sure it works for some but the ratio isn’t good enough for how much they charge for these devices.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2023-01-08, version 1.0.6*

Unfortunately, this app is useless to me. For some reason, it continues to tell me that the local network option is off, even though it’s on, disabling me from connecting my device. Hopefully a fix is eventually rolled out. ☹️

### 1/5 — Not actually a Breville app

*2023-01-05, version 1.0.6*

It’s a reskin of the Tuya app from China. If you still want to use an app, you might aswell use Tuya since it’s the main app plus you can use other Tuya-hardware with it.

Can’t believe a company like Breville has turned into a “dropshipping” method for their apps and just reskinning it lmao.

### 1/5 — Not able to control dehumidifier - Not a smart device

*2022-12-31, version 1.0.6*

After an update we are no longer able to control our smart dehumidifier. We bought 3 of them and the only thing we can do now is to remotel turn it off and on.
Please fix this problem you have with this app

I would upload a screen shot of the fault if I could

### 1/5 — Why do I need to signup to use?

*2022-12-29, version 1.0.6*

I just want to use the basic network feature of my brevile appliances. Why do I have to sign up and give my details?

### 1/5 — App doesn’t connect with air purifier

*2022-11-14, version 1.0.6*

I bought a TAP380 air purifier and attempted to connect on two different devices. I tried all different trouble shooting and it didn’t connect.

I returned the product to the store for another one - and the new one still doesn’t connect.

I tried on THREE different devices to connect and again, no deal.

I thought - it must be me - I’m the problem.

Nope. Came here to the app reviews and can see everyone else with the same problem in the last 6 months.

Garbage.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Frustrating

*2026-03-16, version 1.1.0*

Connection issues… worked through troubleshooting and tried inumerous variations of setting on modem, phone, app and unit I was trying to connect. Nothing worked. It shouldn’t be this difficult.

### 1/5 — Account required

*2025-10-19, version 1.1.0*

I am not opening an account and giving my data away just to use a fan. Do you have any open access to the documentation of the bluetooth protocol in my fan so I can control it without being spied upon? Thank you

### 1/5 — Ad notification spam

*2025-08-31, version 1.1.0*

I installed this app to control my Breville fan/heater, not be advertised to!

### 1/5 — Smart dry

*2025-05-25, version 1.0.10*

Doesn’t connect to the app

### 1/5 — Will not connect

*2025-04-08, version 1.0.10*

Brand new Smart Air Viral Protect Max will not connect to wifi or Bluetooth. I have been trying for an hour and it fails every time.
The instruction booklet says to select “auto scan” but that option does not exist in the app.
The booklet then gives directions on how to manually add via “AP mode”. That option also does not exist in the app.
Tried to connect via Bluetooth because the manual says “pairing is quick with no extra prompts”. But it is not quick because it does not show up on any of our devices.
The manual says “refer to the QuickStart guide in the box” but there is no such guide in the box.
Not only does the app/ purifier not work, but the instructions are infuriatingly inaccurate, incomplete and misleading.

### 1/5 — Nothing works

*2025-02-25, version 1.0.10*

Literally nothing works very page is an error code. Everything doesn’t ducking work it’s so annoying there’s no service no help and none of the help buttons in the app work I can’t even get into the area to add devices

### 1/5 — Spyware

*2025-01-14, version 1.0.10*

Requires always on location just to pair a device. Also requires your wifi password and other personal information just to simply use the device you paid for.

### 1/5 — Wifi interruption causes loss of automation data

*2024-07-06, version 1.0.8*

There is a known issue of it (for some bizarre reason) only supporting 2.4ghz wifi, which is easy to work around by temporarily disabling 5ghz when you first connect.

However, worse is that if you have a wifi interruption (eg power outage, or a kid/cat turns it off) then any work you’ve done to set up automation is lost. It seems the only way to get the device back online is to delete and re-add it, and then you need to set up any automation schedules manually again, you can’t replace the old device definition with the new one.

Lots of automation in our house, never seen an issue like this elsewhere, but seems like an easy fix if they care

### 1/5 — App totally broken

*2024-06-16, version 1.0.8*

Requires an account to use the app. But signup process is completely broken, app crashes once you get to step of setting a password. Completely unusable.

### 1/5 — Frustratingly buggy

*2024-06-01, version 1.0.8*

I had to turn off my 5ghz router band before the device would connect. (Like someone else said - maybe include specific band instructions from the start.) Did so, tested the use, set up automation, awesome.

Turned 5ghz back on because my tv needs it - and now Home Connect can’t find the device. ‘
WHY??? I don’t have band steering on, the networks have different names and passwords, the phone is on the same network as the device, why is there an issue??

After turning 5ghz off again (not a fix on its own), deleting device and reconnecting again, I can now operate the device through the app - but the ‘scenes’ can’t see the device that I am literally operating through the app, so there’s no automation available.

Useless, buggy, garbage. I only bought the device for the connectivity and automation but I won’t be buying breville again. What a waste of money.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Solid App

*2022-11-28, version 1.0.6*

App works as expected.
The indicator buttons in the app for things like the night mode (dehumidifier) are really dim and difficult to tell if said mode is on or not at a glance… a bolder indicator is needed and please update your devices to support the matter standard. Otherwise. Great dehumidifier and good solid app

### 5/5 — Very Easy to Setup

*2022-07-16, version 1.0.6*

Set this up with 2 dehumidifiers and it was very simple and straight forward. Can now turn on remotely and check levels and other settings from my phone. Great app and super easy to use and setup.

### 5/5 — Setup

*2022-02-17, version 1.0.5*

Very hard to setup great when it is.

### 5/5 — Now compatible with Google Assistant

*2021-04-19, version 1.0.4*

Excellent app. The most recent update has added Google Assistant compatibility. Voice commands now allow the Breville Air Active 3D Connect Air Circulator to turn on/off, adjust speed settings and timer function. However, fan oscillation doesn’t appear to respond to voice commands yet.

### 4/5 — switch your internet router to 2.4GHz upon set up

*2022-01-05, version 1.0.5*

Having instructions in the manual to switch your internet router to 2.4GHz upon set up would’ve been helpful. I spent an hour trying to figure out what I was doing wrong before coming here and seeing someone else with the same issue (thank you!).

Now that the app is downloaded and connected successfully, I am able to enjoy the benefits of app and voice control. Awesome features (once figured out).

### 4/5 — Good app for a great fan.

*2021-12-12, version 1.0.5*

The app is quite good and the fan is amazing. I would however love HomeKit support. I feel this would make this product a step above. And dark mode for the app itself.

### 3/5 — Good

*2026-07-16, version 1.1.0*

No dark mode theme

### 3/5 — Just tuya/smart life app

*2025-05-21, version 1.0.10*

If you already have the Smart Life or Tuya app, save yourself the hassle of creating a new account etc and just use that. It’s literally a rebrand of that.

Works well. Fast and responsive and gives a few extra features like muting buttons and turning lights off for dark rooms. Fonts are a bit wacky but who cares.

App doesn’t play nicely with passwords suggest or password managers.

### 3/5 — Great app except in timer cannot set turn off

*2024-03-25, version 1.0.8*

With the breville home humidifier you can set a time for system to turn on but you cannot set a turn off time it will just run till it is full of water to empty out I would love the app developers to put this feature in for setting days to come off for say between 30 min to a few hours when needed Other wise a great product

### 3/5 — Not bad, needs a few tweaks

*2022-12-13, version 1.0.6*

Switching on a timer for my air purifier automatically turns off Night Mode after a few seconds. There is a delay so you have to wait to override the app. Also turning on the air purifier by hand makes it revert to previous settings, and again having to override it with the app. Please add a custom timer to the app! 2, 4, and 8 hours rarely works in my favour.
