### 4/5 — Good but Complicated

*2026-02-19, version 26.02.18*

I have had the system in multiple rooms for a few years. Programming is complicated. One single that ties into a second controller has not yet been successfully programmed. Some integration with other products is not straightforward. Hope the system matures and more people adopt it - which will help ensure its future.

### 3/5 — When it works it's good

*2026-01-25, version 26.01.21*

When it doesn't, randomly stops working for a day, it sucks.

### 2/5 — Not for Canadian

*2025-09-25, version 25.09.17*

Doesn’t have a home setting for Canadian city. There for Local weather etc can not see on display.
Only good for USA.

### 4/5 — Updated : Great system

*2024-05-04, version 24.04.17*

Update : App quit working on my iPad, but it’s a really old one running an old version of iOS so I can’t really blame Brilliant. They reached out and tried to help, which I appreciate. Word on the street is that they may be going out of business. Hope not as it really is a great system.
Original : Love the Brilliant system overall. I have several of their controls throughout my house and was a relatively early adopter. However, after the most recent update, the app now just crashes at launch on my iPad. Have tried removing it and reinstalling, restarting the iPad, etc.

### 4/5 — Fantastic system, but little gripe

*2024-03-21, version 24.03.20*

I've got two Brilliant panels in my house, both work great! One needed to have the base replaced but support is fantastic and they handled replaced it right away for me. Ties almost all my systems together and I'm very happy with it.

Look forward to new integrations and for them to fix the inconceivable oversight of not including international timezone/weather info. Literally only US zones and zip codes are available.

### 2/5 — No Watch App

*2023-08-26, version 23.08.23*

To me, this would be so much more convenient with an apple watch companion app. Most of the time, it’s less effort to use the switches on the wall than use the app. Sure, it’s nice to be able to control things from outside the apartment, but I haven’t had much need for that. Things would be so accessible and quick from the watch though, and I would be really happy with it if that was a feature.

### 2/5 — Great concept - fails to execute

*2023-08-08, version 23.07.26*

I bought this thinking this would be an end all solution to hardwire connect many smart devices without a phone. Well, it works… sometimes. Sometimes I need to reboot the panel, aka remove from the wall and reinstall, wait a couple minutes, and then see if Brilliant can then detect devices whereas on my phone I can see them. This seems to happen frequently with Lifx and Magic LED strips. It’s really unfortunate because for a $500 device you would think it would be able to reasonably refresh as to whether a device is online or not. When things don’t work like activating a scene to turn all lights off on the house yet to it not do that and then cause you to pull out your phone to do it is lowkey annoying.

### 1/5 — Glitchy

*2023-06-14, version 23.05.31*

Can’t connect with iPad only control. Not sure why they update and make is stop working

### 3/5 — Nice Looking devices, but buggy at times

*2023-05-19, version 23.05.17*

Switches randomly go offline…

Multi-way configurations are a nightmare!

Not even my electrician could figure it out… 🙄

For the amount of money I’ve spent to replace every switch in my house, they should send support to address these bugs and issues…

On the flip side:

-Sleek Looking
-GREAT integrations
-It’s just SUPER cool to be able to control your home(s) from anywhere

One HUGE recommendation to make the app better:

-Allow the user to be able to custom organize the lights in whatever order they desire.

### 3/5 — Work in progress

*2022-10-10, version 22.10.05*

The app is not elegant but works fairly well on phone, terrible on iPad. Integration with HomeKit is extremely limited, only light switches get exported. Controller camera is very low quality so video on app is mediocre. Otherwise the control looks great and does what it is supposed to.

### 1/5 — You’re forgetting about Canada!

*2022-05-07, version 22.05.04*

Still missing Canadian postal codes to set weather and other features

### 1/5 — No longer works on iPad

*2022-03-15, version 22.03.09*

Love the Brilliant system overall. I have several of their controls throughout my house and was a relatively early adopter. However, after the most recent update, the app now just crashes at launch on my iPad. Have tried removing it and reinstalling, restarting the iPad, etc.

### 4/5 — App is garbage (updated)

*2022-02-05, version 22.01.26*

Spent an hour getting the device installed. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful. However I have downloaded the app and every time I try to create an account, it says there was an error and to try again later. Tried 10-20 times over the course of an hour with different emails and names, and it never works. $500 device and I can't use it because of a poorly coded app. I'll be returning it tomorrow seeing as you can't use any of the features without an account and I can't create an account.

Update:
After giving up for the night, I decided to try the next day. Maybe it was a server issue, but I was able to set it up in the morning. The app is still not amazing, but the device more than makes up for it. Upgrading to 4 stars.

### 4/5 — Looks great

*2021-11-05, version 21.11.03*

I love the look and had high expectations that this would be helpful for my smart home, but with the app not really able to make changes or work with setting I’m finding we hardly ever use it it morn then just tough to turn on and off the lights. I could have just added light diner switch to do the same thing yes it wouldn’t look as nice, but for the price it lacks as a true home control panel for lights.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bad wtf

*2026-06-10, version 26.03.18*

Rough design I dont recommend Brilliant at all. My neighbors hate it too.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-10-13, version 25.09.17*

Repeatedly not allowed to log in. Reset password. Uninstalled and redownloaded. Nothing works. For now the system on my wall seems to operate. But the features for remote use, viewing the internal cameras, communication between units, etc. are unavailable to me. For now it’ll stay in place until I can purchase a new system. Support for brilliant is lacklustre. Most and the company on website doesn’t appear to be doing well. Good luck.

### 1/5 — The works with LIFX never resolves, never grants access

*2024-09-19, version 24.04.17*

The app is very badly manteined, LIFX autorized the access but the app never connect to it, its useless very unsatisfactory

### 1/5 — App didn’t work

*2024-08-22, version 24.04.17*

No matter how many times I try to set up my device I keep getting the same set up error. Nothing will make the app work. Defeats the whole purpose of even having a smart home light switch. I’m very disappointed.

### 1/5 — HORRIBLE

*2024-07-04, version 24.04.17*

THIS COMPANY HAS NOT RESPONDED TO ME OR ANSWERED THE PHONE FOR 5 DAYS DO YOURSELF A BIG BIG BIG FAVOUR DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK

### 1/5 — Not very brilliant

*2024-03-02, version 24.02.21*

App logs out from inactivity. No way to save password in key chain on iOS or use Face ID. Then verification code by email goes to junk mail because they can’t setup the email Marc properly with mandrill app.

Had to go through all this because one of the hard set lights supposed to always be on turned off (have other smart bulbs on that circuit and needed it to stay on).

### 1/5 — Misleading Claims

*2024-02-09, version 24.02.07*

I have yet to get my stupid device to work with HomeKit. Basically useless to me.

### 1/5 — Fake app rating (per usual)

*2024-01-30, version 24.01.24*

I’ve never had an installation app work so terribly before in my life. I CONSTANTLY had to close out of the app to connect a device, turn something on. Connecting the brilliant panel to alexa was the most confusing thing. The app says “successfully connected, you may now use alexa.” And of course, the voice command didnt work. So after 5 minutes of closing out and clicking around, I found a secret menu that enables me to turn on voice mode….a setting that I mistakenly trusted the app for being turned on WHEN IT TOLD ME SO. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I’ve never wanted to hate an app more. Never setting one of these up ever again.

### 1/5 — Can’t hear anything

*2023-11-10, version 23.11.03*

Can’t hear anything when talked in the camera

### 1/5 — Please reconsider buying this

*2023-11-01, version 23.10.30*

This system is a massive pain in the neck. Takes lots of time to set up. Now they want me to factory reset all devices (I have 3) just to change the email address associated with it. Logged me out of the app, and does not let me connect. Will need to spend time to do the set up all over again for something that should just work seamlessly. I would not buy this again.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Easy and Works

*2025-03-01, version 25.01.08*

This may be the best home automation app. It integrates my lights, Somfy blinds, locks, Sonos and cameras. So easy to use and has a ton of options.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2024-05-18, version 24.04.17*

App works really good.

Only thing is I wish it worked with MyQ

### 5/5 — Fantastic Smart Home System - Better than Savant!

*2023-10-07*

Spent over $50k on A/V and Savvant system for our second home only to be blown away with our new brilliant systems in our primary. We installed 7 of the single grange throughout the house approx 4 inches above certain light switches. We don’t even use them as “light switches”, instead we use them as smart home “mini panels” that connects to our rings, Sonos, climate, and Lutron lights!! These are amazing!!

### 5/5 — Annoyed to Wow Love app design

*2023-09-25, version 23.09.20*

I rushed threw it thinking I would figure it out. Bad idea. Take your time setting up,
App design remarkable from a Ui/ Ux background The app designers/ developers nailed it!

### 5/5 — Life is easier

*2022-01-14, version 21.01.12*

Life is do much easier having the app installed. We have a two switch and ready gif a four switch .

### 5/5 — Smarter home

*2021-12-08, version 21.12.01*

With all the Wi-Fi products I have this centralized all. It form the head of voltron initially I bought 2 I had to buy another two for all the functions it possessed. It made lights that are smart by making the switch that controls them smart. So u don’t have to buy hue bulbs like I did. But if u have the hue bulbs u can control the hue bulbs while not having to worry about someone cutting the switch off. So many benefits and adds value to your property. Great product

### 5/5 — Phillips hue

*2021-08-17, version 21.08.11*

Phillips hue stopped working which was basically my whole house. This has become pointless.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2021-05-01, version 21.04.07*

Love this product! Easy to install and works!!!!!!

### 5/5 — Unit defective but ok now :)

*2020-12-12, version 20.12.10*

Received my first unit. Not cheap. Ant worked for about 20 minutes. Did not even have time to finish setup. Emailed support. And they sent me a new one , with return fedex postage to return the defective one. Got new one installed. And its working GREAT. I have a dozen home automation integration and all working 100 %. Hue, ring, wemo, sonos, alexa. Ect ect. Love it. Will bug more in the near future.

### 5/5 — Good app, amazing hardware

*2020-12-05, version 20.11.20*

I’m giving this app such a good review because I love the Brilliant wall panels so much. Saw the review on AppleInsider and got several! They work great! App sometimes minor issues but it is updated frequently.
