May as we'll buy the print version as I can at least check to see if it has anything of interest to me before I buy it. Won't bother with e-version anymore. ### 4/5 — A great magazine needs little fine tuning *2013-03-10* I found the app smooth and responsive. This is a magazine with some incredible authors and a level of photography that rarely is out done. Everything works as it should with only one exception. It needs to correct the deep increase of contrast that occurs whenever you zoom in closer to examine any page or photo. Since this is a magazine so rich with photos it really takes from everything their trying to produce, and beats up all the fine detailed photos by pushing the image contrast so sharply, it effectively removes all fine information. The finely detailed magazine really needs to make this correction in their reader so that this contrast issue won't destroy an otherwise great mag. Please fix this soon! ### 3/5 — Great magazine, much better app BUT... *2013-02-07* Not sure why there are two British model railway magazine apps, but this one is MUCH faster and more stable. Only problem is, I can't purchase me issues AT ALL in this app. Tried redownloading the app, restarting, etc. get a "purchase error." ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Does not seem to work on iOS 18 iPad Pro *2024-11-01* App launches and then quits straight away, no updates to install etc so I am guessing this is just broken now! ### 1/5 — Poor user interface *2023-08-24* The magazine layout does not suit the app at all well, you are forever scrolling and zooming. Leave it for too long whilst in another app and it totally forgets where you were and sends you back to the home page. This is very annoying when you were viewing a back issue, as you then have another scrolling session to find the correct issue, before trying to locate the article you were reading. The electronic issue seems to be an afterthought to the printed magazine. I’ve experienced much better elsewhere than this lame attempt. ### 1/5 — Misleading *2017-11-27* Its not free with in app purchases, not like other apps anyway. For free all you get is a magazine reader. To get a magazine you pay >£3 per magazine. Since that first time every time I open it either through the App Store or through the newsstand on my iPad mini it is so low resolution as to be unreadable. It also can't be enlarged. I'm really glad at this point that I did not order a full subscription. That is not the case now as my iPad will not play tube videos as before. Have to ‘tweak’ screen with fingers to get a viewable size. Content is excellent but now considering going back to print copy as downloaded copy is now beginning to be annoying. Have reported this but nothing done to resolve problem.
