### 2/5 — Prompts me to add bike

*2026-05-01, version 3.2.0*

There is a new bug when first opening the app with update 3.2.0. It prompts me to add a new bike. First I tried adding my previously already added bike but it wouldn’t work. The fix I discovered is to log out then log back in and magically my previously added bike appears and it no longer asks me to add a bike.

This would be fixed If you removed the requirement to login to pair via Bluetooth.

This is very annoying because every time I open the app and try to reconnect my bike, I have to log out and log back in. This would be impossible to do for people temporarily without internet connection.

I thought the new update was supposed to make it easier to connect to your bike. I preferred the old version. Where it automatically reconnected via Bluetooth.

### 3/5 — Please Help Me, Brompton!

*2026-04-30*

This app is a mixed bag. I’ve had my electric Brompton since September 2025 and mostly the app has been functional. Typically the worst case is that it takes a while to connect to the bike. Sometimes toggling the Bluetooth on and off helps this. But since a recent update, the app removed my bike from the app and prompted me to add a serial number to add my bike (again, something I did back in September). Now, whenever I attempt to add my bike back in the app using the serial number I get an API error message and it doesn’t work. I’ve messaged Brompton customer supporter, but perhaps the developers here check more often and could help me. Thank you in advance for your support!

### 2/5 — every update brings worse behavior

*2026-04-29*

Brompton forces app updates, and the latest one forces me to log in every time I need to use the app, and re-pair my bike, which then hangs, forcing me to force quit the app and restart. EVERY RIDE. Dunno what kind of vibe coding they have going on but it’s not very nice to deal with. Hope they figure it out. App used to be completely reliable.

### 2/5 — No longer connects to my G-Line electric

*2026-04-27, version 3.2.0*

Whilst not feature rich it was working perfectly, now since the latest update it will no longer connect to my G-Like electric. Have deleted and reinstalled the app, followed all troubleshooting and nothing has worked.

### 3/5 — Power settings on the go

*2026-02-18, version 3.0.0*

Great feature to have but the sensitivity of the app isn’t right. Frequently I can’t change the power setting with swipe which creates dangerous situations as attention is removed for on the road to fix the issue.

On occasion (rarely) the app just senses completely the opposite gesture which is equally dangerous.

### 3/5 — Latest app - missing charge cycle data

*2025-11-13, version 3.0.0*

I can no longer see which charge cycle my Brommie is on. This was available until the latest revision of the app.
Also, it would be nice if the trip meter was reset manually by the user. It’s far too easy to reset during a ride accidentally when using the phone for another function. Further, it would be great to see total distance covered by the bike on all screens.
Finally, can we have control of the lights via the app.

### 3/5 — There is potential

*2025-07-02, version 2.0.2*

I like the app very much but it does have a few problems I would have should have ironed out by now. 1. If you swipe to another app it seems to lose the data on the current ride, accumulated distance resets to 0.0 2. Sometimes when no.1 happens the app will show current speed etc but distance stays stuck on 0.0 no matter how far you actually travel. 3. The most annoying occurs quite frequently. If you use the app to change the assistance level occasionally its gets stuck. I.e. You are on level 1 and you swipe to level 2. Half a second later the phone display will go back to level 1 all on its own. The battery pack actually never changes. It’s like the battery has ignored the phone request to shift the assistance level.

Finally, it would great if the app just kept accumulating data to the last ride and let the user decide when a new ride has started rather than keep resetting if the app is closed and reopened or loses focus.

### 2/5 — It won’t stay logged in

*2025-06-13, version 2.0.2*

You can’t use the app to connect to your bike if you aren’t logged in, but the app seems to want you to log in again once a day rather than just staying logged in. As a result, you end up getting on the bike, opening the app and it demanding a username and password… which is ridiculous and unusable.

I tried to file a bug report in the app, using text only in the form inside the app, and it repeatedly throws the error message: “Adding report failed
Response could not be decoded because of error:
The data couldn't be read because it isn't in the correct format.”

Not really sure why I am giving it two stars over one. Needs some serious work!

### 3/5 — i watch and trip details

*2024-06-12, version 1.1.7*

Hi
Any chance you can add trip distance, average speed, and obviously - i watch functionality?
Be
D

### 3/5 — Half-baked

*2024-03-15*

Best thing about it I don't need to use it to use the e-bike.

Nice to see exact battery charge though would be better to see esimates of usable battery remaining based in usage patterns as they accumulate. Also, app is useless to optimize charging for batter health (eg connect to battery while charging to see % charge and charging time remaining).

Only thing I use it for is to keep track of distance ridden for my maintenance records so I can create reminders to inspect or replace certain parts at certain ride distances.

Finally, pushes controller firmware updates without release notes...who has done that for the last 10 years?

### 2/5 — No Diagnostics

*2023-12-08, version 1.1.7*

It would be very helpful if the app could give some more technical information. My motor completely died and turned out to be faulty but the app said nothing. Being able to give diagnostics to a bike shop over the phone would save time and effort. Also flagging issues that could lead to a fault would be incredibly useful.

### 2/5 — Not bad, but logs you out and is lacking overall

*2022-04-20, version 1.0.4*

Main bugbear after nearly a year is that, on some fluctuating schedule, the app logs me out. This is the only non-finance app I have that does this. Why does it need to do this?

As noted it would be great if it can cache battery level etc, and Watch integration would be ace

### 3/5 — Works well. There is room for improvement.

*2022-03-24, version 1.0.4*

The app insists on a web account login and doesn’t appear to support OAuth. This means the app will forget your password at the most inconvenient time meaning a frustrating delay to retrieve my password from the password manager.
Accessibility and dynamic font sizing could improved to help long sighted users with a plus/ max sized iPhone mounted on the bike handlebar.
Stores menu does not show favourites by default nor does it prompt you to set one initially for service.
No service notification for upgrades
No iCloud sync for bike details photos etc.
No way to mark service notifications as completed
Shortcuts support would be a welcome addition.

### 3/5 — Why won’t it stay logged in?

*2021-10-10, version 1.0.2*

Every 6 or 7 rides I have to log in again and it doesn’t use face recognition. It’s annoying, I’m ready to go, connect the app and then have to enter my password etc. Why? It doesn’t hold sensitive information it just records my mileage. I hope this issue is addressed with an update.
Great bike though

### 3/5 — Works well to adjust power

*2021-10-06, version 1.0.2*

Works well to adjust power without having to lean over to access the battery. However, three main drawbacks - (1) doesn’t work when battery is off; (2) doesn’t seem possible to update service history despite there being a function for this; (3) currently not possible to operate using voice commands via Siri.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Constantly getting signed out

*2026-06-12*

I can’t just stay signed in. Very annoying. Please fix this. Everything else is secondary.

### 1/5 — Bike missing

*2026-05-07*

I also have the problem reported in another comment where my bike which has worked for 4+ heads is suddenly missing from my account.

This app is too complicated. It shouldn't even require a login, and the fact that it not only requires one but logs me out every few weeks asks me to type my password WHEN I'M RIDING MY BIKE is a bizarre design choice. Last time I needed to shift gears at a stop light I had to review a terms of service too!

### 1/5 — Terrible app update

*2026-05-05, version 3.2.0*

Keeps asking me to register my bike every time I use it. Really frustrating… no update to fix this and I can’t install the old version. Very poor! Having to run the bike without the app.

### 1/5 — Works intermittently

*2025-10-24, version 2.0.4*

It’s a good idea. I have tried to, and failed to upload a software update and told to take it to my local store (at a cost to me, no offer of a refund) who said the problem might be my phone. I have used 2 different ones, so unlikely.
It will occasionally work, but not often. That’s the really annoying part.
I have had the bike for 7 months, I don’t think I have had more than one ride before it has again failed.
Brompton say it’s an add on to the bike, so not part of any warranty. Very poor.

### 1/5 — Poor app for a bike that costs so much

*2025-07-15, version 2.0.2*

The app really has only one function to change the power output of the motor without having to stop or lean over the handlebars while cycling. Every other electric bike I have used or seen has a power control system on the handlebars. It now only works with iOS 16 or above so I cannot use my old small iPhone.

### 1/5 — Failure built in

*2025-07-13, version 2.0.2*

A dozen attempts to update firmware and then then the ‘email brompton’ button failed… sack your testers…

### 1/5 — Password reset is frustratingly down all the time

*2024-05-20, version 1.1.7*

Password reset is impossible

### 1/5 — No guidance how to connect

*2021-05-18, version 1.0.2*

I have repeatedly reinstalled this app and logged onto my Brompton account but there are no instructions how to connect it to my bike. I have a picture and frame details but the other screens do not appear. Where’s the help?

### 1/5 — I’m confused!

*2021-05-09, version 1.0.1*

I’ve downloaded the app but it doesn’t do anything other than allowing me to change my bike name and photo!?!?

What is its purpose?

### 1/5 — No instructions on pairing

*2021-04-19, version 1.0.1*

Load the app, turn on the bike, and nothing. No guidance on how to set the bike up and the video has nothing.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Does the job

*2023-03-06*

I don’t use the app a ton while riding. I do reference it from time to time and appreciate the service reminders and log.

Would LOVE an Apple Watch version for adjusting assist level. Same sort of interface as on phone, just a quick swipe in the wrist would be fantastic.

### 5/5 — Works 100%

*2022-02-09*

Never had an issue. Faultless. Would like more feature but can’t complain. :)

### 5/5 — Easy to track miles progress

*2021-07-31*

This app is great to track riding progress.
Useful for quick info like bike serial number, Battery serial number with software version and charge cycle.

### 5/5 — Handy but....

*2021-04-16, version 1.0.1*

I like this app but a couple of things would make it so much better for me. I would like to be able to keep a record of my trips. At the moment once you click finish all the trip info disappears, it just adds the distance travelled to your running total. This is useful but being able to compare trips would be more useful. The second thing I would like to see would be the ability to reverse the display as, at the moment, it is difficult to read it in the sunshine.

Thanks anyway for bringing us the app. It was worth the wait.

### 5/5 — It’s arrived!

*2021-04-10, version 1.0.0*

Brompton Electric app is here (I’m assuming bike first needs be updated by a dealer to firmware 1-2-10-2)

Seems to give basic trip info (speed/distance) and lets you change power level.

And probably most useful is :

1. Total odometer reading for the bike (Bike must have been recording this since day one as it said 508 miles which is about what I think I’ve done)

2. Battery charge cycles (14 on my bike apparently)

And bike does seems to allow re-connection between 2 iPhones (not simultaneously I assume) without having to redo full pairing when switching between phones

### 4/5 — Great but needs tweaking

*2023-10-15, version 1.1.7*

I like my phone mounted on the handlebars and this app is useful for showing power and battery levels. The slight danger is if you forget your password. So far I’ve done it twice and had to re register because their ‘reset password’ link does not work.

### 4/5 — Apple Watch Integration

*2023-07-05*

I second the comment by another user that an Apple Watch app to modify the assist level would be fantastic. There is not much room on the bike, with the battery in front, for a phone and water bottle holder, so using the Apple Watch to ‘offload’ would be ideal.

### 4/5 — Missing features

*2022-10-14*

Looks like a good start, but I don’t have a Brompton Electric (yet). I just wanted to see how the app worked as I consider the bike. There is no demo mode. Once you create an account, the only option is to add a bike.

Additionally, I unintentionally typo’d my last name while creating the account. Neither can I can find an option to change any of my profile settings, nor can I delete the account. Nothing on the Brompton web site, either. I don’t think that meets GDPR.

### 4/5 — OK, but more to do

*2021-06-02, version 1.0.2*

It seems to work fairly well but is a bit limited. It only shows information about charge level and mileage when the battery is on the bike. Surely it could record and display current status when of the bike. It would be nice if it could display and record the latest run mileage rather than just the total. It would be useful too to add a Watch app then I could change power level with Siri since I don’t want the phone sitting up on handlebars.

### 4/5 — Why the secrecy Brompton??

*2021-04-05, version 1.0.0*

I’ve known this app was on the cards since buying mine in Feb 2020 but I asked Brompton staff and a servicer as recently as last week when it was due and no one knew. Just stumbled across it in the App Store. No idea why Brompton are keeping so quiet rather than announcing with a fanfare.
