### 2/5 — Has potential but needs serious attention

*2023-09-12*

1. Lots of connectivity problems that are slowly improving.

2. Great potential, free but very basic when compared to competitors

3. Having the screen pop up telling me i have to unlock the app on my phone is dangerous and annoying. Stop nannying and let users determine the best way to utilize the app, very frustrating to be driving down the road and have it crash then not allow me to just restart it without stopping and looking at my phone.

4. The fact you cant get telemtry without recoding video on your own personal device is useless to people who use external cameras to film their trips. I use my phone for navigation and music, not recording my trips.

5. Being able to record the trail cameras would be AMAZING, that would make up for alot of the current shortfalls.

6. Open source the app/parts of the app? This doesnt get a lot of updates and doesnt have a lot of features. Oepn sourcing it to allow the community to help out would be awesome. Although im sure the SWE building this run into alot of corporate types that dont understand the beauty of open-source.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately it's not technically possible to hook in the Broncos external cameras right now, but we do plan to give you more options on when and how to record videos. In the meantime, be aware that iOS does not permit apps to record video while in the background, which is why the prompt asks you to open the app on your phone. Also, there is a setting in the app to disable video recording (Profile -> Settings -> uncheck Video). Should you need any additional help, please send an email to trailapp@ford.com and we can assist. Thanks again!

### 3/5 — This has Potential But….

*2023-05-28*

This app has great potential…..BUT I can’t get it to connect through sync. I keep getting 'Error: Applink connection not detected'. I follow the limited instructions and just get caught in a loop between sync and CarPlay. I open it in one and then it tells me to open it in the other. I tried restarting my iPhone and turning off the Bronco many times and in different order but still no luck. I have checked the permissions in settings on both the phone and vehicle with no luck. I must be missing something. It’s just not straight forward with not enough info in help windows.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for using the app. Please send us an email at trailapp@ford.com and we will get started troubleshooting this issue. Thank you!

### 2/5 — Road Closed Ahead

*2023-05-17*

I downloaded this app after taking delivery of my 2023 Sasquatch package bronco base, I verify my email only to be welcomed to a message stating “Looks like your vehicle model is not supported at this time. We are adding more models and will message you when your vehicle is supported.” Kind of a bummer i cant even see what the features of the app are because the vehicle the app was developed for is not supported on the app.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for using the app. Make sure you've registered your Bronco VIN with Ford Pass first, then try logging in again. If you still have problems please drop us an email at trailapp@ford.com and we can take you through some more troubleshooting steps. Thank you!

### 3/5 — Applink Connection Error

*2023-05-16*

Has potential….or so I read. I cant even get it to connect through sync. I keep getting ‘Error: Applink connection not detected’. I follow the limited instructions and just get caught in a loop between sync and CarPlay. I open it in one and then it tells me to open it in the other. I tried restarting my iPhone and turning off the Bronco many times and in different order but still no luck. Getting ready to remove it from my phone and waiting until it actually functions.

*updated- I received a response from Ford and it now functions. I haven’t had time to really check out the functions but was kinda surprised to see that the Silver Lake sand dunes off road park was not listed. I realize that it isn’t exactly a trail system but I still was expecting to see it. Hopefully since it’s a brand new app more content will be forthcoming. Looking forward to that.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for using the app, sorry you're experiencing this issue. Try navigating in SYNC to Settings > Mobile Apps > Bronco Trail App > (make sure all checkboxes are checked), then return to the CarPlay app. If that doesn't work, shoot us an email at trailapp@ford.com and we can go into some other troubleshooting steps. Thanks again!

### 3/5 — What a difference an update makes

*2023-05-13*

Major stuff works now. Recording works good no more crashing.
Still can change map. Stuck always north
And the satellite view needs to stay on. Or adjust the nanny to 30mph. It’s not a distraction please see Google maps car play….

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for using the app. We have identified the issue causing the recording crashes and will be releasing an update soon. The satellite maps switch off above 5mph to satisfy mandatory driver distraction rules. If you need satellite view, it will be visible while stopped or slowed. We have also identified an issue with the maps being always north, agree, it's better to be able to switch back and forth. Thanks for the feedback and keep an eye out for the update. Thank you!

UPDATE 5/12/23: We've released an update which addresses a crashing issue when recording and unnecessary logouts. Please give it a try, thank you!

### 3/5 — Improved

*2023-05-13*

Maps are downloading without difficulty now, and integration with Apple CarPlay proceeded to work. This will be powerful tool in the middle of nowhere. I’m looking forward to using out west soon. I seems a bit ridiculous that one must sign in to the app from time to time. If you’re away from cell service and you happen to be signed out, then the app would be rendered useless.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for using the app and your review! We have released an update that fixes an issue causing frequent logouts, please update and let us know if you still have issues (email trailapp@ford.com) Thanks again!

### 3/5 — Not great

*2023-05-12*

There are many class VI roads and trails in NH and Maine but only 4 on the map. The trans NH trail would be a great one. The logging in and out of Ford pass is annoying. It doesn’t save my profile pic or nickname. Getting nit picky there. But after 12 attempts I got it to work with my Bronco. I really hope the bugs get fixed. I know its a work in process. My second Bronco just shipped with Sas so after a 2 year wait for the truck I guess I can wait a little longer for the app

**Developer response:** Congratulations on your new Bronco! We just released an update that addresses an issue causing logouts, so check for the update. Please also send us trail suggestions at trailapp@ford.com so we can plan for adding those. Thank you!

### 2/5 — Not working yet

*2023-05-08*

Completely useless in Moab where there is no cell service at 90% of trail heads. If you restart app, you always have to re-login?!

On top of the other issues I have read around just getting it to work in vehicle at all.

Alpha Release!!

**Developer response:** Hi Mike, thanks for using the app (at Safari?) and reporting this issue. The app is definitely designed to handle limited / no cell service, but you're right there is an issue causing unneccesary logouts. We have identified the issue (and a few others) and will be releasing an update soon. Thanks for your patience!

UPDATE 5/12/23: We've released an update which addresses a crashing issue when recording and unnecessary logouts. Please give it a try, thank you!

### 3/5 — Almost there - has potential!

*2023-05-08*

Not having the crashes or initial setup issues some folks are having, but once those are solved for everyone, this app needs Face ID support and/or some way to avoid having to log into the app when connected to CarPlay in the Bronco. Also, OHV areas ought to at least be points of interest on the map, even if they're not curated trails.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for the review. We have identified a bug causing the app to log you out improperly, and will be releasing an update soon. Face ID / Touch ID is also on our list of potential future enhancements, so thank you for requesting it! If you have knowledge of some OHV areas we can add to the map, please send us an email at trailapp@ford.com and let us know what you'd like to see added. Thank you!

UPDATE 5/12/23: We've released an update which addresses a crashing issue when recording and unnecessary logouts. Please give it a try, thank you!

### 3/5 — Please fix

*2023-05-07*

If you're going to require a signing every single time you open the app, could you please at least enable face ID?

**Developer response:** Hi, and thanks for using the app. We have identified a bug that causes unneccessary logouts, and will be releasing an update soon. We will also add Face ID / Touch ID to our list of potential future enhancements. Thanks again!

UPDATE 5/12/23: We've released an update which addresses a crashing issue when recording and unnecessary logouts. Please give it a try, thank you!

### 2/5 — Full of bugs (but also full of promise)

*2023-05-05*

I’d give it one star, except for the fact that the things it COULD do are amazing! After restarting my phone and car multiple times, it almost worked — but not quite. Recording causes instant crashes, or records only a couple of frames of data. I’m surprised the Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail is not included, as well as several other trails which Gaia shows — perhaps Ford will add them later, but for now, this seems to be a “hopefully eventually integrated” app, whereas Gaia is fully functional. If you need it know, use Gaia — but hopefully someday Ford will get this working well! ☺️

**Developer response:** Hi there, thanks for believing in us! We're working hard to fix bugs and improve the app. The recording crash will be fixed in the next update, coming soon. We are also adding trails continually. Last year we had to skip Trans Wisconsin because of closures, but maybe we'll give it a go this year! If you have any other trail requests, feel free to drop us an email at trailapp@ford.com and let us know. Thank you!

UPDATE 5/12/23: We've released an update which addresses a crashing issue when recording and unnecessary logouts. Please give it a try, thank you!

### 2/5 — Good idea but needs work.

*2023-05-04*

It is nice having trail information and the ability to sync with your devices.
It was difficult to get it working at first the directions to setup for the vehicle should be the first thing you are presented with. Having to log into the app every time you want to use it makes it clumsy. Adding weather updates and emergency contact information to the system would add a ton of usefulness.

**Developer response:** Hello and thank you for your feedback. We have identified an issue causing frequent logouts, and are working on a fix as we speak. The app does show hourly and extended outlook weather information on the trail details pages. Good idea on contact information, we will add that to our list of potential enhancements. Keep an eye out for the update, and thanks again!

UPDATE 5/12/23: We've released an update which addresses a crashing issue when recording and unnecessary logouts. Please give it a try, thank you!

### 1/5 — This app reminds me of bidenomics

*2023-09-28*

This app is flawed in its conception. It’s an off-road mapping app which means it’s used in places that do not have Wi-Fi or cellular connection. The app requires continuous logging in and logging out. and then again, logging out and logging back in. These required continuous logging in and logging out procedures require a connection via Wi-Fi or cellular. So the app will work if you’re going shopping at the mall. However, if you’re planning on using this Bronco Trail App on off-road on trails, you had better have a back up application ready to go because it will require you to login and log out and login and log out and if you don’t have cellular connection, the app will not work. It has to login via cellular to know what vehicle you are driving. it will not remember what vehicle you’re driving from one stop to the next. if you’re a pavement, princess, or a mall crawler, this is the app for you. If you like to go on trails that are off-road, that’s not what this trail app was designed for.

**Developer response:** Update 9/22/23:
Please send us an email at trailapp@ford.com to create a support ticket. Thanks!

Hi, thank you for your feedback. We have identified the issues causing recording crashes and logouts. We're also working on the tire pressure issue. We will be releasing an update soon, keep an eye out for it. Thank you!

### 1/5 — This app reminds me of bidenomics

*2023-09-25*

Update: I responded to an e-mail from Daniel on September the 11th. I think Daniel is just a bot. The questions were like. Do you have a car? Do you have a phone? Do you have Wi-Fi? I responded to his questions and he never responded back. This is the problem with companies and developers that are too scared to talk to their customers. They hide behind,” send us an email.” for which they just don’t respond or follow through. I responded again on September 13 saying why have you not responded and still nothing. I started a new thread. I got some guy named Josh. He responded a couple of times and then said they think they have a possible idea of why I can’t login and that they would let me know when this got resolved. Since then nothing Josh. I have subsequently been able to login, but now I get the Error app link not not detected and the Bronco Trail App does not currently support your vehicle model. I can’t find anywhere that I’m able to put in my model. The layout and tutorials of this app are just awful. Go ahead and email Support and you too can get ghosted.

### 1/5 — Absurdly non-functional

*2023-09-04*

Can’t get this application to work at all. Follow the astonishingly useless directions and you will descend into a doom loop of rediscovering mobile apps in Sync and launching the app from CarPlay only to repeatedly experience an error message: “Applink connection not detected” which then directs you to repeat what you just did to get there (obviously with the same result). Allowing all permissions for the app in iPhone settings doesn’t help. Deleting the app and re-adding doesn’t help. Deleting the phone from Sync and re-adding doesn’t help. Changing connection from Bluetooth to USB doesn’t help. What exactly does this AppLink message mean? From what I can tell Applink is related to Ford’s voice assistant. Not sure why that would have anything to do with the Trail app.

**Developer response:** Hello, so sorry you're having issues connecting to your Bronco. AppLink is the technology that lets the Bronco communicate with the app. Make sure you are in wifi or cell signal when you first attempt the connection, as the car needs internet to download resources to make the connection on the first run. If you still run into issues, please send us an email at trailapp@ford.com and we can run through some troubleshooting with you. Hope this helps, and thank you!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work without cord

*2023-08-09*

Bronco people: Vehicle can do CarPlay wired only or both wireless or wired. Tried to capture video wired yesterday at the dunes. Did not work constant connectivity issues. My theory is bronco app can not deal with wireless car play. Not even a little bit. Delete your phone from vehicle, forget car in CarPlay settings on your phone. Reconnect. And when the prompt comes up and says ONLY USB? Say YES! How frustrated made it up the test hill and my video didn’t save. Grrrr ford if I’m wrong tell me please.

**Developer response:** Hello and sorry to hear you're having issues. We tell users to try wireless CarPlay first, as it is a more stable connection vs. cables which can wiggle loose on trail. There may be another issue at play causing this too. Please send us an email at trailapp@ford.com and we can troubleshoot it with you. Thank you!

### 1/5 — Ford Failed

*2023-07-21*

Worst app ever creates. There is NEVER a reliable connection to CarPlay/Bronco. Maps display is usually a big white screen. Too bad Ford couple buy an app the works, because they wasted a ton of cash on terrible coders. Where was the beta testing?!?

Tech support has been unable to find a solution

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for trying out the app. I'm sorry to hear you're having issues. Please send us an email at trailapp@ford.com and we can assist with troubleshooting both the connection issue and the blank map screen issue. Thank you!

### 1/5 — Recordings are a mess

*2023-07-21*

I went on a full day ride last week and the recordings are a mess. I went through the setup and made sure I had the correct views needed. None of the recordings work out: data overlay was upside down (no orientation help when setting up the camera), other recordings completely froze partway through or recording a screenshot for 15-20mins.

I use CarPlay wired to ensure a good connection and uninstalled/reinstalled before I started the day. Just disappointed

**Developer response:** HI, thank you for the feedback. We are working hard on improving the video recording experience, and expect to have an update out very soon. Please check back soon. Thank you!

### 1/5 — Unusable due to bugs.

*2023-05-08*

Lots of issues but the biggest is forcing authentication/login. Most trails are outside of cellular connectivity, so if you can’t login you can’t use the app. Potentially dangerous if you don’t have an alternate map available.

I’m not sure why ford decided to make their own app. They should have simply licensed a 3rd party and put their branding on it.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for using the app. We have identified the issue causing logouts and will be releasing an update soon. Keep an eye out for it, and thank you for your feedback!

UPDATE 5/12/23: We've released an update which addresses a crashing issue when recording and unnecessary logouts. Please give it a try, thank you!

### 1/5 — What good is an “offline” mapping program if have to log on to use it?

*2023-05-07*

I’m literally writing this from my hotel room in Moab. Excited to FINALLY have the downloaded map functionality so hyped when Bronco was launched. So, I downloaded all the trails and headed out to start Poison Spider a couple hours later and fired up the app only to be greeted with the log on screen. GUESS WHAT? No cell signal at the trailhead means you CANT LOG IN TO USE THE DOWNLOADED MAPS! Back to All Trails I suppose.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for using the app, especially in Moab! We have identified the issue causing unneccessary logouts, and will be releasing an update soon. Please give the app another try when once you get the update. Thank you!

UPDATE 5/12/23: We've released an update which addresses a crashing issue when recording and unnecessary logouts. Please give it a try, thank you!

### 1/5 — Unnecessary gate keeping

*2023-05-05*

Why is this app only supported on high end trims with sync 4?
Please update to include sync 3 functionality and Bronco Sport Badlands. Not everyone needs trail cams or live data on the screen. Just need a good app to find trails and run them. Guess onX off-road will kee my subscription another year.

**Developer response:** Hi, and thank you for trying the app out! We're looking into including Bronco Sport in the future. We'll consider this review a vote in that column :) There are some complexities with SYNC 3 that make it difficult. We appreciate your feedback!

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2023-05-02*

Was excited to use this, but it crashes when clicking the record button. Trail photos don’t load, and the maps won’t properly download to the phone for off-road use. This initial release is unusable.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for trying out the app. We are aware of the crashing issue when recording, and it will be fixed in short order. Please send an email to trailapp@ford.com to report the issues with photos and maps not loading. Thank you!

UPDATE 5/12/23: We've released an update which addresses a crashing issue when recording and unnecessary logouts. Please give it a try, thank you!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — It’s here. The long awaited Trail app

*2023-08-10*

Finally it’s out of planning and in action. Keep on working hard to make it complete.

**Developer response:** Hi, and thanks for the review. We are working hard to improve the app, stay tuned for future updates! Happy Trails!

### 5/5 — Easy to use after initial set up

*2023-06-03*

I got the app set up in my Bronco with the help of a couple of videos online. Once initial set up is complete it’s really easy to use. Love it - thank you Bronco !

**Developer response:** Thank you for the review! Enjoy the app, the trails, and your Bronco, happy trails!

### 5/5 — Really liking it

*2023-05-27*

It’s not 4+ years old, and there are minor issues, but it works, it works well and don’t have any issues using the app with the vehicle. Good job and can’t wait to see what else is added!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review! More goodness is coming... Happy Trails!

### 5/5 — Crash’s more than Biden

*2023-05-14*

Cool concept. Still can’t seem to save videos? Getting better.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for your feedback. We have identified the issues causing recording crashes and logouts. We're also working on the tire pressure issue. We will be releasing an update soon, keep an eye out for it. Thank you!

UPDATE 5/12/23: We've released an update which addresses a crashing issue when recording and unnecessary logouts. Please give it a try, thank you!

### 5/5 — Very Helpful

*2023-05-02*

Just what the Bronco community needed. Love the pictures at trail waypoints feature. Helpful to explore the trail before choosing your adventure.

Looking forward to seeing what the community adds.

**Developer response:** Thanks for using the app. Happy trails!

### 4/5 — Love it- want it in my Braptor now!

*2023-10-16*

Had a First Edition Bronco and the app worked great. Just purchased a new Bronco Raptor and cannot find the app nor connect to it in any way. Miss being able to use this app and really hope the developers are working on this so I can get back on the trails 😎

**Developer response:** Hi, we are aware of the issue with Raptors and are working on fixing it ASAP. Stay tuned for the update, and thanks for the patience!

### 4/5 — App Getting Better With Each Update

*2023-08-10*

After 2-3 months of using the App, finally ready to review. Started off rocky, but the potential and connectivity are cool concepts.

Stability was the first issue with the app, but some of that involves the software behind Apple CarPlay. When actually wheeling, cell service is lost pretty quickly and that’s usually where the issues with Trial App started, but after about 2 updates, it doesn’t freeze as often when deep in the woods and is useable.

Coolest feature is the pre-loaded trails; there are a ton for my state and you can download for offline use and get directions to the trailhead using either Apple Maps or Google Maps. Trail details are often exaggerated, but better to be more cautious than not.

Trial recording uses your phone, not the front facing camera, which isn’t the best, but the recording with live telemetry is a great use of tech.

Looking forward to the next few updates to see where the developers take the app. Keep working on stability and debugging guys.

**Developer response:** Hi Ray, thanks for the review. Glad you're enjoying the app. We are working hard to improve the app, so stay tuned for future updates. Thank you and happy trails!

### 4/5 — Cool app but I have a request

*2023-05-23*

I love the idea of this app and bugs are expected as it’s new, I’d love to see more vehicles supported. I have an F-150 Lightning (with Sync 4A) and I’d love to have this app integrate with it when I take it on trails. I’m not trying to take it rock crawling or anything crazy but I’d love to be able to navigate trails.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for using the app and the review! We will add your request to the list!

### 4/5 — New and hopeful

*2023-05-05*

I was happy to see this app was finally out. I live in western Colorado and just looked at the trails near me so far. On my iPhone it shows details once you tap on a trail; “Recommended Time Jan-Dec” on all the trails I’ve looked at. Once you tap again for more info and read “Trail Description” it does give you accurate time of year to visit for each trail. Not sure why the “Recommended Time” doesn’t show this accurate info but perhaps it will get updated soon. Looking forward to exploring more with my Bronco and utilizing this app!

**Developer response:** Hi, and thank you for reporting this issue. We will take a look. Happy Trails!

### 3/5 — Record Wings still need work

*2023-10-02*

Update: it seems like that app doesn’t leverage the camera stabilization for video as the recordings shake at every bounce. In addition, connecting to the Bronco proved difficult once again. I repeatedly received “This vehicle is not compatible” message. I have a 22 Wildtrak w/Lux. I had better recording with my phone on a mount w/o the trail app.

Thank you!
