The UI is not intuitive, and somewhat inconsistent in presentation of options. Buttons are a little buggy, and sometimes are invisible, though still functional. Not having landscape mode is really just the worst though. The UI/UX needs a lot of work. It’s not very intuitive. It’s a very clunky operation. You can’t do anything in batches. It will occasionally just dump all of your live sets. Make sure you back everything up on the cloud regularly because the save all data option doesn’t work and it doesn’t give you an option to do it on cloud. BOSS should really put some money into a good application design team. I like the amp and the whole concept of tone studio but the app doesn’t really support the concept very well. Impossible to use with Artist Series mk 3. When I use in combination with a foot switch, app seems to discard effect settings that were previously selected on the patch and also things like amp volume etc. Found it is totally un-usable to make quick tweaks on the fly which makes it pointless. Think there is a problem between interaction of foot switch, amp and app. Boss - very disappointing and your developers need to fix this. Also, regularly loses connection with MIDI adapter and then can’t get it back. Terrible user experience in UI. Way too clunky and no thought to how users might use it. Boss needs to put some investment into this as it is the way the industry is moving. Also, the LEDs on the app go out of sync with the LEDs on the amp. ### 5/5 — Works great! *2025-08-21* I don’t know why there’s so much hate, I understand it’s frustrating having to buy a piece of equipment on top of the amp I found mine used on reverb for much cheaper. But, the app works fine although some UI with the front end is pretty outdated. I’ve have no issues connecting to my iPhone or iPad. Adding landscape mode for the iPad would make it more user friendly to keep app open while using the amp. ### 4/5 — Handy! *2025-09-17* Great for tweaking your Katana when you’re away from your PC. Especially if you have a model that doesn’t have some of the additional panel switches for advanced functions. (Katana 50 has no “cab resonance” switch, for example - so can only be adjusted via the app or desktop BTS).
