When clicking pay by Apple Pay, I need to input my billing address manually, which you have access to from Apple, opening another site where I need to then sort Apple Pay there is also a pain and starting in the app would be far more intuitive. I then get two emails for each purchase from the app and the site. After paying, the site doesn’t always close, so I have to hope it’s sorted and navigate to the paid for ticket. The you’ve paid for a full fare ticket screen also feels useless, as the next thing I’ll want to do is either pay for another, or more likely validate my ticket. On a similar note showing the ticket to the inspectors shouldn’t be more than clicking on the ticket and we got them to do it for us the first time. ### 4/5 — Works *2026-07-08, version 6.7.0* Stress free unlimited transport use. Setting up is a slight pain in the neck, but once you finish the set up process, purchasing and using is quite easy. Very beautiful city to explore. You do not need to scan the QR code every time youre on board. The ticket instructor will find out to validate your tix. ### 2/5 — Apple Issues *2026-06-30, version 6.7.0* Downloaded app but could not verify identification during registration using email as the authorisation email hangs the mail account. Only closing internet connection releases the mail by which time sync with the app is lost. All friends with Androids had no problems. Has to be an Apple glitch. A minute later a ticket inspector got on bus and fined me $30 Euro for not scanning QR code. Feel like I’ve been scammed. App not good for tourists. Having multiple things to scan depending on who is inspecting the ticket is a bit OTT and the fact that you cannot validate a ticket onboard a bus like you can with paper ones is insane! Ticket inspectors dragged me off a bus on the day I arrived because I didn’t notice the tiny QR codes outside the bus door and fined me 12,000 HUF. If this is how they treat tourists, BKK is a stain on the city’s reputation. ### 3/5 — To buy one single ticket? Years later they are still emailing me about stuff to do with their app. The unsubscribe does nothing. They must have emailed about 30 times just because my credit card was expired- why they stored it in the first place, I was only there for one day. ### 1/5 — Faulty App Scams Travelers *2026-07-02, version 6.7.0* So multiple times I have bought a ticket and tried to validate it only to get “unknown error - ticket failed to validate” problem is that you can only validate a ticket before getting onto a tram which is only a 10 second window tops. So the first time I scanned and hopped onto the tram only for the app to say it didn’t validate, a fare inspect was by the door and instantly fined me $38 USD knowing fully well I attempted to validate my ticket but the app failed. After this incident there has been countless times that I’ve waited another 15 minutes for a next tram or bus than risk hopping on because this app fails to validate my purchased tickets. ### 1/5 — Offensively terrible *2026-06-23, version 6.7.0* This transport system tarnishes the name of Budapest, you can expect a more efficient and forgiving service in rural Mongolia. Every country that surrounds Hungary has a clean and effective system, so I don’t get how it’s possible to be this bad. I hope BKK gets bought out by a more humane provider. ### 1/5 — Useless, buy physical tickets *2026-06-04, version 6.6.1* App requires 5G with full antenna to maybe open if you are patient enough to wait 40 seconds or so. In other words, where ticket inspectors are waiting to shoot your eyes with their laser scanners, you have nothing to show! Instead of this BS app, do yourself a huge favor and buy physical ticket at a machine. ### 1/5 — Registration and KYC required *2026-05-26, version 6.6.1* Purchasing ticket in a booth? 1) Choose ticket 2) Pay 3) Done. Purchasing ticket in the app? Please sign up, confirm your email, enter your name, enter your ID, take a picture of your passport, provide a drop of blood and then MAYBE we'll let you pay and have a ticket. The app is super easy to use - easier than the Paris equivalents, comparable to Prague, Vienna apps. Required minimal details, just name and address, no ID. A few reviewers apparently complained about the payment handler, Simple, that opens in a popup to accept payment. This is not a separate app, just a popup for accepting payment. It didn’t require any extra info from me and Apple Pay worked fine. Not sure what all the fuss is about, app is actually pretty good. ### 5/5 — Great app *2026-06-12, version 6.7.0* The app is great.
