### 3/5 — Original app

*2026-08-16, version 3.0.1*

I really enjoy the philosophical aspects of the original app. The artistic photographs of nature balanced it well. The update doesn’t seem to support what I’m looking for and feels very overstimulating.

### 3/5 — Just Quotes

*2024-11-28, version 2.4.5*

Very simple app that provides short quotes, mostly from the Buddhist tradition, but also some inspirational words from other traditions as well.

### 4/5 — Thoughtful

*2024-09-29, version 2.4.5*

Not all Zen, some religious sayings also.

### 4/5 — Daily use

*2023-07-20, version 2.4.5*

Every day I read 3 quotes, which help set a daily intention. There’s a typo; lack mediation causing ignorance, instead of meditation.

### 5/5 — Km

*2022-07-15, version 2.4.5*

Love this app. The quotes are lovely and it’s a great quick pick up when I need a reminder away from the cushion.

### 5/5 — Refreshing

*2021-08-22, version 2.4.5*

Insightful and kindly true app. A must have.

### 5/5 — Priceless.

*2021-04-29, version 2.4.5*

This app is a free service to humanity .

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-04-27, version 2.4.5*

Great app

### 5/5 — Good

*2021-04-03, version 2.4.5*

Happy to know this app

### 3/5 — Limited

*2021-03-15, version 2.4.5*

I loved it in the first few days so I paid for a subscription. Then after a few more days, I noticed that the quotes began to recycle. I’m so disappointed that the quotes are so incredibly limited!

### 3/5 — Needs some updates

*2021-03-12, version 2.4.5*

1. A way to get daily timed notifications for a quote
2. There are so many quotes, categories and more content being added would be fresh
3.music and background would be fresh as well

It’s ok , but more boring that others for the reasons above. Right now out of 4 apps like this I would delete this one first, but it has potential.. One way to make it A cut above the others would be a way for the user to add their own quotes or in some other way customize the experience.

### 5/5 — Thankful

*2021-02-05, version 2.4.5*

### 5/5 — Excellent used of thought.

*2020-12-12, version 2.4.5*

Great for food people who needed a good motivation.

### 5/5 — Very good app with inspiring words and photos.

*2020-11-18, version 2.4.5*

I like this app because it’s just pictures and words to see and then ponder on. I have found some wisdom from ones that I’ve read.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Daily use

*2026-08-04, version 3.0.0*

I really don’t care for the changes you’ve made. The old simple quotes were more helpful.

### 1/5 — Sad about changes

*2026-07-28, version 3.0.0*

I have had this app for years, daily boost from wise sayings and gorgeous pictures.
Apparently that has all vanished, what a shame!!!

### 1/5 — Awful change

*2026-07-26, version 3.0.0*

Please return to the old format. This is awful

### 1/5 — Just wrong

*2023-01-28, version 2.4.5*

Full of things the Buddha never said, and displays ads, which you can remove by paying money - all of which makes this app a very non-Buddhist undertaking. Whoever created this thing understands and applies none of the most basic principles of Buddhism. This - people passing off misguided nonsense as "Buddhist" - is the essence of how the Dhamma dies out in the world, ushering in the great periods of darkness between the arisings of the Buddhas. I can think of nothing sadder.

### 1/5 — Not worth paying for. Stick to the free version.

*2022-09-27*

I paid the $4.49 and upgraded the app hoping to access the rest of the quotes. You literally get the same content, except no ads. There is definitely no where near 500 quotes as stated. I haven’t actually counted, but maybe 50. Very disappointing.

### 1/5 — Fake buddha quotes

*2021-05-05, version 2.4.5*

Some of these quotes are not from Buddha. I read one today that was speaking favorably about being ambitious. Buddha highlights the joys of non-ambition. Had to delete. There are other enlightened people out there but this app just seems to pick any brainy-zen SOUNDING quotes. It’s dangerous for those on the spiritual journey to read quotes from random people who never actually attainted to enlightenment.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2016-08-11*

Quotes and pictures are fine but I paid $2.99 for the upgrade and I can't send a particular picture with quote to another person when it's needed. What they send is the plain quote in little black writing, NO picture and and big link to the App Store to get THEIR APP! - Selfish app- makers here- why did they think I paid for no adds?? I'll certainly be requesting my money back. Buddha-like they certainly are NOT.

### 2/5 — Not Really Buddhist

*2019-03-15, version 2.4.5*

This is NOT Buddhist! The sayings simply do not follow the nature of Buddhist thought. Can not recommend.

### 2/5 — Okay App...

*2016-09-28, version 2.3.2*

...but could be so much better if the developer would get rid of the grey band that the sayings are in. This really detracts from the lovely background photos. I find this situation too annoying to give it any more than two stars. This has to be easy to to do and it would be so much better!! This app should be about the photos as much as the sayings. So, why don't you fix this?

### 2/5 — Some nice quotes, but many are NOT from the Buddha!!!

*2012-07-12, version 2.0*

Firstly the quotes do not give a reference to their source (e.g. Dhammapada, Metta Sutra, etc.) which is disappointing - if you like a quote you can't find out more about it.

But then I realised something much worse. There are quite a lot of quotes NOT from Buddhist texts. I have only read about 40 so far and spotted at least 5 which are bogus. Someone has done a lazy, sloppy cut-and-paste job from some unreliable quote bank somewhere.

Here are some examples of things the Buddha DIDN'T say:
> It is better to travel well than to arrive. (Robert Louis Stevenson?)
> To understand everything is to forgive everything. (French saying. Origin uncertain.)
> When you realise how perfect everything is, you will tilt your head back and laugh at the sky. (Nice sentiment, but the Buddha didn't say it. This has been debunked on various Buddhist websites.)

And here are two GLARINGLY bogus ones:
> I never see what has been done; I only see what remains to be done.
> Ambition is like love, impatient both of delays and rivals.
Can you imagine the Buddha saying either of those? So out of keeping with his general themes...

I suggest the app developers put in the necessary work to CHECK the accuracy of the quotes and remove the inaccurate ones. And, at the same time, why not add the source references once you've traced them?

Or they could just rename the app "Kinda Buddha but not exactly". ;-)

When life is getting you down the quotes here can offer some perspective and solace.

### 5/5 — THE BASICS

*2025-10-04, version 2.4.5*

The base for Buddhism is where all religions start but change too much. Buddhism sticks to the basics for ALL mankind. Incluisive for everyone.

### 5/5 — Food for thought

*2022-12-28, version 2.4.5*

This is a great app for giving one food for thought to carry one brought the day.

### 5/5 — Excellent little APP

*2022-09-04, version 2.4.5*

Does exactly what it needs to do with no fuss and all in a language that is easy to understand. I look at the APP everyday and get a lot to think about from it. Some of the quotes are great to meditate on if that’s part of your practice. 10/10
Please don’t fiddle with the contents or the look of it. If it’s not broke don’t fix it. I’ve had so many APPS that have been spoilt by developers not knowing where to stop. This APP is perfect as it is. Thank you for releasing it and for the work and time you put into its development
