BufferMind is a real-time transcription and translation app built for students learning in a language that is not their first. It listens to your lecture, transcribes every word, and translates it as the professor speaks — so you can follow along live, and actually understand it afterwards. REAL-TIME TRANSCRIPTION Fast, accurate speech-to-text across 15+ input languages including English, Chinese, Spanish, Hindi, Korean, Japanese, French and German, with an auto-detect mode for multilingual classrooms. INSTANT TRANSLATION Original and translation side by side as the lecture unfolds — Chinese, English, Hindi, Korean, Japanese and Spanish. You can also have the translation read aloud through your headphones while class is still running. ANDY, YOUR AI TEACHING ASSISTANT Ask Andy anything about a lecture you recorded and get an answer grounded in your own transcript, not the open internet. Snap a photo of a problem on the board and ask about that instead. Andy also catches the moment your name is called, so you do not miss it. A HISTORY YOU CAN ACTUALLY USE Every session keeps its transcript, translation and audio. Tap any word to jump to that exact second of the recording. Search across everything you have ever recorded. Group sessions into folders by course, and upload the syllabus so Andy knows what the class is about. LIVE ACTIVITY An active recording stays visible on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so you can confirm it is still running without unlocking your phone. TALKING TO PEOPLE Push-to-talk translated conversation for talking to someone face to face — Chinese, English, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish and Hindi. Add friends to share sessions, chat with text, photos, video and voice messages, or start a voice or video call. Battery - A "Low Power Mode" switch in Settings: long recordings use less battery, with recording and translation unaffected. Folders & sidebar - Creating a folder offers "Pin to sidebar" — it appears in the sidebar right away. - A new account's first sign-in shows a demo recording; follow the finger hint and long-press to get started. iPad - The headphone playback switch moved onto the recording bar; the paused-state buttons no longer show their old look. Fixes - No more dark glow along the top of bottom sheets, plus smaller polish throughout. ### 1.2.2 — 2026-09-05 NEW — Continue a recording Long-press a recording and choose "Continue recording" to pick up where it left off. The new audio and transcript are added to the same session — one lecture stays one recording, even after a break. Andy - Zoned out? Tap "I just zoned out" and Andy gives you a plain-language recap of the last minute or two, plus where the lecture is now. Ask in English, get English. - When your name is called, the card now shows the question Andy caught and a direct answer. Home & library - Recordings are listed by when they were recorded. Pin the ones you want to keep at the top. Friends - The Friends row in the sidebar now shows a count — pending friend requests first, otherwise unread messages. Fixes - The live transcript no longer stops following along when two people take turns speaking. - The "back to top" button on the session page no longer overlaps the top bar. - iPad: recording and folder cards in chat match iPhone, folder pages show shared folders and invites together, and the sidebar now blurs under the status bar. - You can rate BufferMind from Settings, plus smaller polish throughout. ### 1.2.1 — 2026-09-04 NEW — Add friends with a QR code Show your code or scan a friend's to send a friend request, or share your link instead. Andy - Answers start with the answer — no warm-up, no sign-off. - When you ask a question, Andy now reads the whole lecture so far, not just the last few seconds. - If your name is called but no question was caught, you get a short heads-up instead of an empty card. Home & library - Recordings are ordered by recent activity, and a live "Recording" card sits at the top of Home while you record. Chat - One consistent bubble style across the app, smoother send and recall animations, and switching between walkie-talkie and keyboard no longer jumps. - The photo viewer and full-screen video no longer swipe you out of the chat by accident. Plans - When the monthly allowance runs out, the upgrade screen also shows the free route: add your first friend and you both get a month of Pro.
