I bought the full version and even play it during my down time at work. I’ve recommended the game to a few bug loving friends!! ### 5/5 — I love this game, there should be more like it! *2025-08-07* I lost my progress which was pretty sad after playing for about 10 hours… over time of course. I closed the app without saving, and then it only gave me the option start a new game. I like this game so much I’m going to restart it, but I am wondering how can I avoid loosing my progress if my phone acts glitchy. **Developer response:** Hi! I'm sorry about your lost progress! The game does autosave between scenes, so I wonder if that save file got corrupted somehow? I will be working to make progress save more consistently for a future update. From mystery to collection to decoration to quests to bug facts to moneymaking, this game has everything I’ve been looking for in a game as if I summoned it from my imagination! I’m not usually a pixel-game sort of person but this game is just gorgeous. I can tell the creators really love bugs and critters and it’s fantastic. Also small detail but I LOVE that the trees are bendy? It makes me giggle everytime. I don’t have the money for the full version yet but I’m so excited to get it when I can. The mystery is SO intriguing and I got this game for the bugs! Seriously thank you for making this I’ve been looking for a game that scratches this kind of specific itch for YEARS!!! If I could ask a single boon of the devs? I’d appreciate if you could also give the scientific names of the bugs. It could be put under the common names when you first catch a new bug. I know there are kids that play and it should be kept simple for them but those of us who are crazy about bugs greatly appreciate the scientific names. I bought the expansion and it is well worth it. I know many players are kids, but as an adult it's fun and satisfying without feeling tedious like many other games with a similar audience. The art is cute, and the play itself is fluid. I was on a trip recently, and the app being offline was perfect for the plane. I can hear my high school English teacher telling me to have a complaint with all of my praise, so I guess a search and/or filter in the field guide would add ease, but I also like it how it is too. It feels akin to having to flip though a physical guide to find a species. Thank you for the mobile port, I hope others will find the same joy I have playing this game. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Paying didn’t unlock content *2025-04-09* Loved everything about this game until no matter what I tried I couldn’t access the downward section even after paying. I'll take a look on the back end and see if there's anything I can update. ### 2/5 — Majority of the game is behind a paywall *2025-03-09* I really enjoyed this game until I hit a point where I had to pay to get access to the rest of the content. This is a fun and great little game but be prepared to pay $10 if you want the full game. ### 2/5 — Ads are disappointing *2025-01-05* This is a great game, but unfortunately not on iOS. Our 7 year old loves this game and was happy to get it on her iPad. She was so disappointed to see ads when tapping on screen buttons. The ads last over a minute and push to download and play other apps. These can be avoided, but for her this is so difficult to navigate around. I’m disappointed to see it added but at least we can continue to play this on other platforms. I recommend others check it out on Steam or Switch for a better play experience especially for kids. **Developer response:** UPDATE: After seeing that a lot of kids were playing, and understanding the frustration as a parent, we opted to remove all ads from the game. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me--it made a difference! Hi! I'm so sorry it was a frustrating experience for your 7-year-old. The free experience in Bug & Seek mobile does have one popup ad every game day and two options for rewarded ads. I'm not a fan of in-game ads either, but it helps us pay some bills. :) Purchasing the app does remove all ads, but if you're looking for a 100% free version with no ads, I do recommend the Steam and/or Switch demos. I am writing to mention that I recently lost about 20 habitats with all the bugs within as it turned from winter to spring for the first time. The 4 bugs that remained had no distinctive pattern to explain why they remained. Hope this doesn’t happen once more. Love the game but seriously hope future updates to include some form of controller accessibility. You cant move the character. and i hate playing games with my thumbs on the screen and i like having my hands under a blanket while I play games i cant do that in this one. I know first world problems, but makes me really sad cause i love bugs, and this is all the coziness of animal crossing without the extensive neverending chores. Plop in and plop out. It's got the cute pixel style of Stardew Valley, with simple controls and easy gameplay. You just search for different kinds of bugs, then choose to sell or display them.
