This app is not currently safe for an educational setting, which is unfortunate but it’s a great way to learn braille, if the pop-up full screen ads for Pluto TV were not there. ### 3/5 — Not working. *2020-09-20, version 1.7* When is recently did the update it took the feature away that tells you how many dots there are for that letter in the alphabet sheet. All I hear is the letter, it's a voiceover bug of some sort. ### 2/5 — There on the right track! Needs a little more work *2020-09-01, version 1.6* I was so excited to discover this app! I love the simplicity. There is such a great need for tools like this to help people with low vision master Braille. Please note 6 is recommended below Quizes— It appears the a answer keys for the alphabet and number testd are not quite accurate. And the sound for a correct answer sounds like the sound for an incorrect answer which is quite disheartening. Perhaps just say “ correct” or @try again” instead of using the harsh the buzzard sound. Contrast- I would suggest increasing the contrast of the numbers on the dots. I love the fact the dots are so largeforward and back buttons are so nice and large. Very low vision friendly. Font sizes- The text size on the quizzes some of the pages Navigation— Some pages have lovely forward and back buttons which are large and easy to see. Perhaps use these throughout the app. Also in the braille chart seems to be missing navigation buttons. ### 1/5 — 82% *2020-08-18, version 1.6* Ever time I do the letter identification quiz, I get a score of 82%. First, I know I got them all right. Second, the app doesn’t tell you which letters you misidentified if you do make a mistake. ### 1/5 — .... bogus *2020-03-23, version 1.5* I’m legally blind so Braille is what I need I don’t like how there’s just a quiz I need a physical practice of the letters and words etc ### 5/5 — Great app *2020-03-05, version 1.5* This is a great app to refresh your Braille skills I do wish there was grade 2 Braille and the old huggers And Of For The With in this I think that would be really neat to see because I am starting to learnt grade 2 and the old huggers is a great tool to use as well and being able to add all these into a quiz would be really neat to see .. I also do wish you can add Memeth Braille into this . Besides all of that I really love this app and I hope you can make the changes I listed ### 2/5 — Doesn’t really teach braille *2020-01-17, version 1.5* It just lists you the alphabet, expects you to memorize it, and then quizzes you on it. It doesn’t go letter-by-letter and actually teach it, which would be effective to learning. But if you’re already familiar with braille, this can be a good practice tool. ### 3/5 — Good app but, no contractions or punctuation. *2019-10-07, version 1.5* I've taken braille in the past and I wanted to refresh my knowledge as my eyes are getting worse and I wanted to take advantage of what sight I have left and use a free mobile app to do so. This app was great for low vision learning and was pretty straight forward. My complaints that make this a 3 star app and not a 5 star app are as follows. First, there is no grade 2 level stuff in this app and if there is , it is not voiceover compatible. If you have no braille experience, that is where you learn about punctuation and the contractions. There are symbols that represent more than one character at a time. Example, the word "the" has it's own symbol, and you are supposed to use that symbol while spelling words that contain those letters. Words like "they" "there" or "these". Second, I don't see any way to learn how to type on a braille keyboard. I wish there was a simulated braille keyboard like on a braille typewriter to practice typing with. When I first learned braille years ago, the typing portion of the lesson is what made everything stick in my brain, that is, actually typing the symbols out. If you are just a little curious about braille and just want to learn the basics of how a braille cell is made up, and the numbers and letters in a straight forward way, and just gain some general understanding of braille, rather than fluently read braille, this app is probably the one for you. ### 3/5 — This has great potential! *2019-07-18* At moment every time you double tap to go to next page in lesson on learning grade one Braille, you have to swipe left several times to get back to tge top of the new page!
